Madden 10 League-OFFICIAL CAG LEAGUE (Tournament)- LOTS OF TEAMS AVAILABLE!

Sorry Saints, I sent you a message on Xbox Live a few hours ago...but I can pretty much play anytime this weekend. I don't expect to wake up tomorrow til around 1 or 2 p.m. EST but anytime after that should be good. There's a chance I might go out tomorrow night too, so maybe we can schedule our game for around 5:00 or 6:00 EST tomorrow (Saturday)? I'm pretty flexible so if you'd rather do another time just let me know. I'm just throwing something out there for us to work with.

BV, i'll be online intermittently throughout the day. i'm on diaper duty today and my daughter is teething so i'll have to work around her

Had another good one with UB, I guess the third time wasn't the charm, even though everything was in place for it to be. I hit a Field Goal to go up by 7 with about 1:30 left in the game. Then my Defense blew a huge play and gave up a 72 yard touchdown. I ended up sealing my one fate by throwing a pick and then giving up the field goal. Jets move on 38-35, gg ub.

I can't even begin to describe how back and forth that game was. I climbed all the way back into it. Both teams had MULTIPLE chances to win, both in regulation and OT. Ravens finally pulled it out with a Ray Rice TD run with 5 seconds to go in the first OT when I was trying to stop him getting in FG range. Incredible game.
That was, without a doubt, the best game of Madden that has ever been played.
i agree... the VY fumble made me forget all about the Chris Johnson TD run.

UBERNES is all that stands between us and the Super Bowl... Hope the Jets are ready for a focused Ravens squad

I'm definitely going to look back on how many chances I had to win that. I was in a quick 10-0 hole after a FG and then fumbling the ensuing KR for a TD. I drove down the field and got it to 4th and inches on the 11. I decided to gamble and got stuffed, it was an uphill battle for me from there. He was up 10-0 at halftime but I took the first play of the second half 80 yards for a TD. He answered back to make it 17-7, but I scored 10 unanswered in the 4th to tie it.

In OT I received but had to punt, then he got the ball and ended up going for it on 4th and short in his own territory (which he'd successfully done on the opening drive of the game). This time I stuffed it, giving me a great chance to win, but Bironas missed a true but short FG from 48 into the wind (which I blame on the Online kicking lag, haha). I managed to get the ball back again but then Young fumbled on a busted play and he was too far in for me to stop him. I've never seen so many possessions in an OT, we were a hair away from needing a second one.

In my opinion we couldn't have been more evenly matched (Azu was wrong on that account), but he definitely earned the win.

Edit: Corrected the scoring progression.

That was one of those insane plays which would never happen in real football. I didn't count, but I think there were like 5 guys chasing him, every one of which over-pursued towards the sideline. One ridiculously over-exaggerated spin move and he made them all look silly. I don't see that happening to the real Ravens, haha.

The three keys to the Ravens victory, in my eyes:

1. The hit stick. You are a master of that thing. You laid out my KR on his first return and caused him to fumble, you could probably tell it was in my head the rest of the game (though he ended up having a few decent returns). Also obviously on my last offensive play. Making that even more impressive was that Young hadn't fumbled all year (I believe he had another one which went out of bounds as well).

2. You figuring out how to stop my bread and butter play, the sweep right with CJ out of the loaded backfield. I was torching you on that play most of the game, including the 80 yard TD. Once you took it away in the 4th quarter I struggled moving the ball more.

3. My dumbassery. Nothing against the Ravens, but I definitely left a few points on the field - twice going for it on 4th-and-inches in FG range (the second one was much longer). Had I taken the points, it might have been a different game, since my D was pretty staunch for most of the game, should have trusted it more.

So it's Ubernes vs Deuce for the AFC, How about the NFC? Anyways, it's been a great season I've had a ton of fun. It was my first successful Madden Franchise I've been a part of, sucks to go out losing but I'm looking forward to Madden 11 and another great season with the Pats. I'm comin for Ya UB! Haha, good luck to everyone the rest of the way.

EPIC game. This was probably our best one and we've had a ton of good ones already.

I went up 21-3 with over a minute remaining in the half. Looked like I had a comfortable lead, but nope, I solid scoring drive later and then I fumble the ensuing kickoff and it's 21-17. Ouch. I respond nicely with a huge run by Greene, 28-17, okay feeling comfortable again...nope. Venom scores 15 in a row, bringing it to 32-28.

Within the 2-minute mark he's driving on me AGAIN. Ugh! A TD will pretty much put this game out of reach. But, somehow, someway I manage to stop him on 3rd and short with just over a minute remaining. 35-28, down by a TD. All I need to do is tie it and let the coin toss gods decide our fate.

First play of the drive, Sanchez throws a BOMB (73 yards) to Allison. A safety is definitely getting cut in the offseason because no one was even close to him. But there's still 59 seconds left, did the Jets score too quickly? Can the Pats sling it down the field AGAIN and kick in the winning FG with time expiring!?

Not so fast, Marquis Coles picks Brady and I'm sitting in field goal range. I inch a bit closer and kill some time off the clock, and boot one in with 27 seconds left. Has Brady been saving up his miracle plays for the playoffs? Nope, but I guess Coles was. As he grabbed his 2nd pick in less than a minute to seal the game away, 38-35. GG.

I assume we're going to squeeze in AT LEAST one more Madden 10 season, right?

Also, everyone post awards nominations by the end of tomorrow, and then we'll vote.

If you guys do, I probably won't be around. I usually go off to Texas and California for the Summer. I'll only have Wifi at like one place and I don't stay there the entire time. So I basically go the entire summer without internet and Xbox haha. But I'd love to be back for a Madden 11 Season when I return.

We've been waiting since week 3 to get some revenge; we're ready.

Nothing like the 2nd biggest stage in football to hang up a W on the Ravens. :D

I'd be tempted to take over the Pats, seeing as they are my favorite team, but the Titans fit my playstyle much better. I do have my eye on one other team if their owner doesn't want to keep them. :D

I called a 7 point difference, final was a 6 point difference. I know what's up haha.

That being said, I think I've finally reached the end of Madden life.
I can still get a decent amount of money for trading it in, and I don't think I'm bringing a console to the UK when I go in October. If I bring anything it'll be my PS3.
Speaking of PS3's, does anyone know how to make one region free/where to get a region free PS3?

You called 3 points between Jets/Pats too, so you're 2 for 2.

But you definitely know you weren't giving me much of a chance, haha, and Deuce can tell you I definitely could have won that game.

All PS3s are region free, but you're going to run into an unexpected issue. You'll need an HDTV. If you try to play it on a standard TV, European TVs do not usually support 480i. Also, keep in mind you'll need a power adapter, or preferably an entirely new cord, since the PS3 can be fickle in terms of overheating if not powered properly.

Where are you going in the UK?

I think PS3s are inherently region free. I read something like that when I was reading a discussion on importing the UK version of Demon's Souls. Check it out for yourself, but I'm pretty sure that is the case.

The games are indeed region free, so you won't have any issues there. But as I said, the only issue is that US PS3s can't output onto a British SDTV.

Thanks for the info guys.
I'm going to the University of Warwick in Coventry.
I don't think I'm bringing a console but apparently a lot of people do bring PS3's so it's not uncommon. I know I need power adaptors for just about everything. Do you know any websites or something that go indepth between the differences between north American and British electronics?
And if I had a North American laptop, would it work with UK software and whatnot? Life is hard..

you just need a $10 power adapter. I would just grab yourself a cheap flat screen here and bring it with you. If I could bring a console to Iraq I'm sure you can get one to England

Saints punch ticket to NFC Championship Game, beat Bears 31-21.

Brees threw for 244 yards and two scores, his second a key toss to Shockey in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

But the real battle was in the turnovers. The Bears, leading 21-17 going into the 3rd, threw two costly interceptions and rookie HB Girley coughed up the rock in relief of Matt Forte. The ensuing scramble for the ball was a close one but Charles Grant secured the ball (I think I broke my controller during this) and the pendulum that is momentum swung to the home team and never came back.

The Saints will now wait for either the San Francisco 49ers or the New York Football Giants to travel to New Orleans to battle for the right to go to the Super Bowl.

Congrats.
I predicted an 11 point difference, I'm getting good at that...

I guess we advance sometime tomorrow night? I think the Giants/Niners will be getting their game in at some point tomorrow. So tomorrow night or Monday.

Monday seems more likely. I have a wedding at 4:30 and it's open bar so...

But who knows, I might get home late Sunday night.

Ya it was a good game, I can't complain about the outcome at all...it's hard to win a game when my turnover difference is -3. It's always a good sign when I throw an interception on my first passing play of the game :/ And my stupid backup running back Girley lived up to his name by fumbling on his only carry of the game...it was definitely avoidable though. I should have had Chester Taylor as my #2 but I can't ignore Girley's 99 speed...it's too appealing to give him a couple carries each game.

I hope we can get another tournament going on Madden '10 after this one is over. I'm not sure if I'm gonna get 2011 or not yet, but I'm definitely trying to get as much out of this one as possible. I don't really care to be the Bears again, but I wouldn't mind playing as them either.

Found an interesting article about Madden 11, “Online scouting tracks all of your play-calling and what you like to do in different situations,” explains producer Donny Moore. “We’re tracking every online game that you play: online ranked, unranked, and ‘Madden Ultimate Team’ head-to-head.” And according to Moore, there are ten different situations that the game is tracking: First down, second down and long, second down and medium, second down and short, third down and long, third down and medium, third down and short, fourth down, goal line, and red zone." Apparently you earn coins for every online game you play and you use them towards that. You can also see who they go to most on that down/distance.

My votes:

MVP: Brees. Johnson carried the load all season for the Titans. 2824 total offensive yards is mindboggling, and his 24 TDs are nothing to sneeze at either. No matter who the opponent, he moved the ball. I'm going with Brees because he lead his team to 16-0, and was unbelievably consistent all year. Oh, and 50 TDs, haha

QB: Young. The only way in which Brees was better than Young this year was in that he threw far more. Young was more efficient, less turnover prone, and had more total TDs when you factor in his 9 rushing scores. He did all this while sitting 2.5 games. I'm sure Brees will win this for the 5000 yards and 50TDs, but in my mind Young was the better QB this season.

RB: Johnson. This should be unanimous, while the other guys had great seasons none came close to CJ.

WR: Bellows. Again, not close. The other two guys had slightly more yards, but the 23 TDs, which lead the league by a wide margin, easily makes the difference.

OROY: Bellows. Duh.

DMVP: Patrick Willis. While those 45 sacks are certainly impressive, I'm not exactly convinced they were achieved against top notch competition, or even legitimately. If I'm shown otherwise I'd change my vote. Willis looks to have been top-to-bottom excellent all year.

DROY: Morrison (I withdrew my nom of my rookie returner, Morrison deserves it)

Owner: BigAT. Everyone in this league was awesome, and ubernes was definitely an awesome commish. Both these guys were not only classy opponents, but both weathered the loss of their starting QBs for long stretches of the season. Still, BigAT managed to eek out one more win in a tougher division, so he gets my vote.
BigAt...let's shoot for 530 pm est tommorow??
That works for me.

If the game starts on time, I should be able to advance us before I need to head out at 6:15-30. If not, expect around 11pm est. Deuce, if you want to play then that's cool, or I'm available anytime after 3pm est tomorrow.
You could always just give me commish status and I'll advance us when we're done.
Oh yeah, duh. I'll do that at some point today.

edit: Done, you're all set as commish.

The 9er's are done in by one helluva goaline stand and an even more amazing right foot....13-3. To open the second half, down 7-3 the 9er's get a pick in Giants territory. After a few plays and a personal foul facemask, they have 1st and Goal on the 3. Four consecutive runs and no points. (SAD) The 9ers turn it over and have the G-men backed into there own end zone. One timely slant route to Steve Smith....1st down. A few plays later, up top to Nicks...gain of 30+ first down in 9ers territory. The 9er's buckled down and forced a forth down from there 39 where the Giants' superkicker hit a 58 yarder (that would have been good from 70) in below freezing temperature, AMAZING!

Good game BigAT...until we meet again...

Very GG Ram, as I expected it would be.

The defining series came in the third quarter. Ram stopped me inside the 5 right before the half ended after I was sacked with no timeouts left. Foolish move on my part, I probably should have just taken the 3 points. I received the ball to start the second half and promptly threw an interception to Takeo Spikes, giving the 49ers the ball and great field position. A few plays later the Niners were set with the ball on the 3 yard line and first and goal to go, ready to score a touchdown and take the lead as well as momentum.

Thankfully my defense came up huge and shut them down on four straight plays for a huge turnover on downs.

Final: 13-3 Giants

I advanced us, here are the Conference Championship games:

NEW Baltimore Ravens @ New York Jets
New York Football Giants @ New Orleans Saints

That would be a good one. He's a tough match-up, he absolutely dominated me, about the same sort of game he just had with the 49ers it looks like, and neither of us were anything to sneeze at.

Tough match up indeed.

Saints get buried after digging extremely deep hole early, lose 34-17.

What does a 66 yard screen pass TD and two pick sixes give you? A three touchdown deficit against the league's, by far, best defense.

That was what Drew Brees (4 INTS, 0 TD) and the then undefeated Saints faced at the end of 1st quarter.

Dismayed but not discouraged, Brees kept his team's morale high and fought to make the score 24-10 right before half as the Saints solved the tricky G-Men goal line D with a 4th down Wildcat run from Reggie Bush.

The 2nd half turned into more of a game as the teams traded touchdowns but the hole was so deep that it would have required the Giants to have a complete meltdown, something Coach BigAT was never going to let happen.

Its been a hell of a year. BigAT, I have to hand it to you, you beat me soundly without even a hint of exploiting and cheesing, that's the best game experience I've had where I've been absolutely destroyed, very refreshing.

And the answer to the question of the validity of Charles Grant's 45 (???) sacks, its easy to have a couple of games of 9-10 sacks when you can guess the CPU's snap count, nothing fishy or exploitative.
