Tonight I could probably do. I might be going to AC tomorrow night, which would likely put me out of commission for Friday and Saturday.
I'll be working till 930ish pm cst, may get off early but I'd plan on being on between 930-10pm cst

That would be fine for me, but is there even a chance we advance tonight?

wishfull thinking I guess, well I'm off all weekend so let me knows whats good with you when we advance
He and I are supposed to try our game again at 6 P.M. Eastern, just so you know.
I guess that's good news for me... my daughter's mother is coming by to attempt to reconcile after a failed attempt a couple nights ago and that's about the time she'll get there. yall's game should give me time to handle business lol
Is Vikings owner out of town? I sent him an XBL message to no avail. I can play anytime today but I'm busy but for an hour or two tomorrow in the afternoon.
Today is his last day in town... so you should be able to get it in today hopefully.

Way too many games left...

Jags vs Texans
Redskins vs Packers
Broncos vs Bears
Ravens vs Chargers
Saints vs Vikings
Falcons vs Bucs
Niners vs Browns
Titans vs Bengals

Please let me know when these are being played. If I don't hear from you by noon EST tomorrow and there's no games scheduled after that time then I will be simming whatever remaining games there are around 2-3pm EST.
Ravens vs Chargers
i'm under the impression we will be playing sometime tonight.

also, i had kinda been out of the loop for a few days but i finally registered with that stats website... so u can assign the Ravens their semi-proud owner lol

last thing... for future reference, my cell # is 240 691 9592... with this new PT job, my free time will be cut in half and so will me being online (on the cpu and phone) so texting me about setting up games will probably be the more efficient way to handle things. I'll still check the thread and pm's and all that, but my phone is always with me so it will expedite the process...

Once you register with Xtreme Football, you have the "Join League" option available when you visit the CAGFL page. So do that and then I can assign you.

In case ubernes doesn't see it in the other thread:

I haven't heard from Kayholiday at all today. He said he wanted to play our game at 6 P.M. Eastern, but I've been waiting for about a half hour and he's not on. I'll wait another 5 minutes, maybe 10 at most unless I hear something. We've already gone through a couple drops late in games. I'm not saying the drops were his fault at all, though.

Bucs/Falcons in the books. Bucs started out strong with a 21-3 lead in the first, but the Falcons made a game out of it and brought the game down to a 3 point decision. Final Score 31-28.
anybody know the browns owner that can contact him ?
I just texted him
I wouldn't have been gung-ho about the second league if I knew it would have had this effect on the first league. :(
I'm not really sure the two are correlated. :D

Chargers 31-Ravens 26

The game was salted when Jonathan Joseph forced a fumble under 2 minutes which Shaun Phillips recovered and took to the house to put the Charges up 31-19. The Ravens rallied to score at the last second.

The Chargers, playing for nothing but pride, definitely showed up in this one. Amazingly Rivers managed not to turn the ball over for once, and the results were positive.

um... i have to admit, i'm exceptionally angry that in the game i was winning 21-7, the game disconnects and in the subsequent game, a myriad of things goes wrong and we lose... fuck madden.

i think in the event of disconnects after 3 mins in the 3rd, whoever was winning should be credited a W... play the 2nd game and if the team winning the first time loses, a third game should be played to determine the winner. Some of us go to great lengths to set up a gameplan and its not fair (thru no single person's fault other than the network handlers) that they reveal their gameplan and have to play again with the cat out of the bag...

It happens. Besides, considering my receivers dropped like 4 balls in that first game and you had a miracle TD on a tip, I probably would have been just as frustrated as you are now if that one had counted.

I'm not really sure what went wrong in the second game other than me scoring more points. ;)

Santana Moss starting the game off with 3 catches for 130+ yards for starters when i dont think he caught a pass the first game... just a lot of lil things on D that we were doing the first time but the second time they just seemed sluggish and unaware
Thank you bv, just need a few more things to go my way and I can solidify a playoff spot.
All for you dude. ;)

Interesting and awesome. From Xtreme Football:

Update on the draft console: Talking to a member we have come out with a nice way to implement a draft console.

 1. After your franchise is advanced to the draft you guys are going to sim the draft in the game.
 2. From this point on everything you do will be on my site, the software will automatically release all the rookies from the teams.
 3. You guys will be able to trade players and picks on my site and draft players. The software will keep track of all the transactions made in our simulated off-season.
 4. Once done with the draft, the commish will hit a process button that will process all the trades and picks. Traded players will be release from their teams and signed to the teams they were traded to.
 5. Final, for all of this to work, the commish must prevent their users from playing their week 1 games.

Indeed.

Anyway, I messaged Kayholiday again. I saw upon returning that you said he had to work late, but I signed off after 45 minutes of waiting, and I had plans to go watch the game with friends, anyway. I sent Kay a message telling him i can play tomorrow as long as we start by 7 P.M. Eastern.
Still no word from Vikes, I guess we'll be simming it.
He's out of town now. We can sim it or we can find a sub for you. Up to you.

I finally get Gates and Stuckey back next week, though true to my injury-riddled season I lost Marcus McNeill for a few weeks with a broken jaw. I'm hoping Season 3 is significantly less brittle for the boys in powder blue.

So it sounds like Packers/Redskins will be played at or around 7pm EST tonight. And we'll advance after. BV is going to handle it as I won't be available by then and until Sunday.

Sounds good. I'll plan to advance us around 8:15 EST.

What about the other 3 games?

Titans/Bengals: being simmed because the Titans are temp dropping from the league due to finals and I haven't seen the Bengals in this thread since he asked to take the team.
Saints/Vikings: also being simmed. Both aren't around at the moment.
Broncos/Bears: they had some issues getting together. haven't heard about rescheduling. if they pop in the thread and say they are playing at like 8pm EST then by all means we can wait, but if we don't hear then that will be simmed after the Vikings/Redskins game as well.

So after much reading, I realized that I am a complete noob on defense. I am even more of a newb because I control the de. I should be controlling the ss, fs or a cb. I guess I have some adjustments to make. I found the gb playbook and I want to give it a shot. I am going to have to turn off auto-strafe, but I haven't figured that out yet. Any other hints from you madden guru's? I spent the last couple days labbing and reading all because of a butt whoopin' brought to you by bigAT.

I've found that if you suck on defense, the DE or a LB is probably the best to control, since you're less likely to screw something up royally as compared to controlling a CB or S. Advanced defensive players (a group I'm definitely not part of) definitely control those other positions much more often.

I never saw the benefit of playing as a CB unless you play a lot of zone or your CB is that bad at man coverage. I love playing as the safeties but depending on the play LBs and ends have their benefits too. Hydro strictly used his DEs as far as I could tell with the Colts and Master uses Beason to much success as well. But those are probably the two strongest points on those individual defenses.
Hey Matt Young when do you want to play a game or two of our 2k11 playoff series ?
I can play tomorrow afternoon (Pacific time) in general, and Sunday should work as well.

I still haven't heard from Kayholiday about a time for today. I checked my XBL messages on Xbox.com, too.

Yeah, there's no shame in using the DL or LBs as opposed to the secondary. I'm partial to DT's myself, but everyone has a preference.

Yeah I prefer MLB because that's the focal point of the defense. The MLB is in position to make plays on any snap...you can drop back into coverage, defend against the run, pass rush (although I never blitz anymore with Beason just to avoid any questionable nano-blitzing issues), etc. etc. I tend to choose primarily LB spy plays in order to basically have free reign to do whatever I want on the field. I don't like to be committed to one player (i.e. man-to-man defense) or one area of the field (i.e. zone defense). I basically like to scour the whole field with Beason...although I obviously can't cover the deep routes as effectively, so I basically stick with covering short and medium routes.

I've never tried playing with a safety or CB, but I don't think I'd ever want to switch. I definitely wouldn't want to play CB cause, like I said, I don't want to be committed to defending one player all game. I feel like that would be pretty boring for the most part...and you would only be making a direct impact on passing plays where the QB is throwing it to the receiver you're guarding. I think safety would be fun too, but safeties play further back and aren't in as good of a position to defend against the run, so I just stick with LB. I might consider switching to safety against players who partake in a pass-heavy offense or players who like to throw the deep ball. Like the game I just had with the Colts (who were taken over by gregthomas)...he ran one run play the entire game lol, so I ended up with a very unproductive game with Beason (like 2 tackles...). It would definitely have been more efficient to play safety that game...

I agree less advanced defensive players would be better off with DE or LB, but I don't think playing Safety would be any harder than those two positions...it's basically like playing a linebacker in zone coverage, just deeper in the field. CB's on the other hand are definitely reserved for good defensive players...I feel like the person you're playing against could easily exploit your coverage if you were playing CB. There are a ton of tricky routes with players cutting inside for like a second and then immediately running a streak route or something like that. If a speedy receiver gets even one step on you, then you're pretty much screwed.

I definitely should not have allowed you to take the 49ers in the other league. :D When we had our scrims I think Willis had like 5 picks between them, completely shut down my short passing game / the middle of the field.

Lol yeah Willis is so fast (90 speed) which makes it a lot easier in coverage. But on the other hand, you had a lot of success with the deep ball, particularly to Olsen. If you keep that up...I might have to experiment with safety against you :/ Willis seems to have some good hands from our scrims (you were right about the 5 picks)...but my 2 pass deflections with Willis in the CAG 2.0 League Week 1 were both EASY interceptions that he just dropped :bomb:

The deep ball is my bread and butter with Rivers, but Cutler isn't nearly as accurate on those throws. He can manage deep post routes where the guy has time to run under it, but on go routes he seems to always under or overthrow them, so there's definitely some adjustments to be made which means working in some more intermediate routes.

what should be the last title update for madden11

• Fixed an exploit to disallow defenders from all blitzing when the quarterback tried to pump fake when facing the wrong direction. This was discovered in NCAA Football 11 and fixed in both titles.
• Fixed an exploit where unscrupulous players could get their fullback or tight end to move across the line of scrimmage and cause an encroachment penalty against an unsuspecting defensive player.
• Fixed an exploit where online gamers could use specific timing in pulling the network plug and cause a soft lock for both users, thus not having to face a loss. We've isolated and fixed the problem, so now if someone pulls their plug, they rightfully get a loss.
• Improved reaction times for defenders in coverage to better react to receivers
• Improved logic to get defenders in better position to make plays on the ball while in the air
• Improved defensive play recognition to get defenders reacting to the play faster
• Tuned up defensive pursuit to get defenders to take smarter angles to the ball carrier
• Tuned up defensive gap aggressiveness to get defenders into the hole faster
• Fixed an issue where the play art on defense would sometimes not show up correctly when showing blitz. We have corrected this p
