Madden 11 League-OFFICIAL CAG LEAGUE-That's all folks! Mini-tourney still coming tho!
The deep ball is my bread and butter with Rivers, but Cutler isn't nearly as accurate on those throws. He can manage deep post routes where the guy has time to run under it, but on go routes he seems to always under or overthrow them, so there's definitely some adjustments to be made which means working in some more intermediate routes.
Yeah I can understand that...I'm still not sure who is the lesser of two evils between Troy and Alex, but I think I'm probably gonna switch it up to keep things interesting. Alex Smith has the slight edge on accuracy I believe, but Troy has the speed. I had like a 39-yard TD scramble with Troy Smith in my first game which was one of the most exciting plays I've ever had in Madden lol. I'm so used to Jimmy Clausen who's a 57 speed...watching Troy Smith score that run was awesome.

• Improved reaction times for defenders in coverage to better react to receivers
• Improved logic to get defenders in better position to make plays on the ball while in the air
• Improved defensive play recognition to get defenders reacting to the play faster
• Tuned up defensive pursuit to get defenders to take smarter angles to the ball carrier
• Tuned up defensive gap aggressiveness to get defenders into the hole faster
w00t. Let's see if it makes an actual difference in containing some of these high scores. This is great news for someone like me who lets the CPU do most of the heavy lifting on D.

Nice...I am expecting 14 picks a game from now on!!! On that note...Chris Gamble had never had more than 1 pick a game and only had like 2 all last season (and 2 this season). In the other league, the Panthers owner had 3 picks with Gamble in his first game with the Panthers...so I was so disappointed in MY Chris Gamble and wondered why he couldn't be more like HIS Chris Gamble. Then in my very next game against the Colts this week, my boy turned up with 3 picks of his own...I think a little competition between Chris Gamble and the alternate-universe Chris Gamble can be good for both of them.

The Broncos comes out and beats the Bears 56-7. The Broncos defense was the reason for this because they forced 7 interceptions 2 by Champ Bailey and 2 by Brian Dawkins...CAN ANYONE SAY #1 DEFENSE IN THE LEAGUE......Knowshon Moreno and the rookie Jermaine Baker carried the offense. Knowshon had 22 carries for 342 yards and Baker had 7 carries for 87 yards.....This win puts us in a tie for the last playoff spot with Baltimore.

GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!

Potentially 3 playoff teams from the AFC West. A far cry from real life.
Matt, Kay said 7 works.
Okay. I will get back on then, but if it ends up dropping again, I won't be able to try again till tomorrow since I'm going to a hockey game.

I play the safety position almost exclusively. Very occasionally I'll switch to a CB in certain zone situations or I'll take over a LB from time to time. I enjoy safety as it gives me the ability to cover a large part of the field when necessary and to freelance more often than I likely would at other positions. It's definitely a high risk, high reward position though, there are plenty of times were I have allowed a big play as a result of over-pursuing. I play with auto-strafe off, for what it's worth.

I agree though that the "safe" position to play if you're not that good at manual defense is definitely on the D-line. Real men play DB.
bigat when's good for you to play?
If we advance relatively early, I might be able to play tonight. I think I'm going out to the bar at some point tonight though. If we can't do it tonight, the earliest I'll be able to play will unfortunately be Sunday.

Bengals sent me a message asking about their game, it looks like the Titans dropped (not sure why). If they can play right now I told them to just go ahead and play the CPU, otherwise I'm gonna sim it since there's no point really in holding up the league for a game between 4-8 and 2-10 teams.

I'll be online so if you can jump on tonight, fine, if not sunday I'll be around

If the Titans stay open into next season, my amigo from the other league said he would be interested in taking them.

does he fit the requirement for the Titans?
Is there a rule or something that only assholes are allowed to run the Titans?
Ubernes/BigAT: Kayholiday (Washington) and I (Green Bay) tried for the 4th time, and again the game dropped. We were 3/4 of the way through the game, I had the ball, and the play calling screen had just popped up. I got a notification that BigAT had signed on, and then *BAM* "Connection to your peer has been lost." :(

lol well he needs to work on his CAG communication, but he is a straight up player and isn't an asshole unless we're on Call of Duty.

I guess that depends on whether or not we're willing to wait until tomorrow to advance...(NO!!!!!!!!!!!)

My bad.

I'm inclined to advance us now as well. They've been disconnected several times already, it's looking less and less like they can get it in at all, even if we waited. Plus it's the deadline.
The game will have to be simmed sadly. BV please advance us.
Done and done.

Redskins 10 - Packers 7
Bengals 14 - Titans 10
Saints 38 - Vikings 24
Wait, what, I'm the Rams in this league.
Yeah I meant the other league. No worries nobody is taking your Rams
How long does it take for that Xtreme.net site to transition into the current week?
It's updated now. I just had to advance it on there. Jets move up in the power rankings!
I don't know how Thomas was even able to tackle him on that play...there's a solid 12 point speed difference between him and your RB. Osi was keeping up pretty well with him too lol.
Yeah, I was absolutely shocked that Osi was anywhere near considering he's A) a D-lineman and B) he plays on the opposite side of the line. The only thing more shocking was when TT came out of nowhere to somehow make a play.
New York Giants (11-2)
They just won tonight. Speaking of, I updated the stats site with a little blurb on the Giants.

Congrats to the Players of the Week out Miami, Carolina, Denver and Tampa.

Some movement at the top of the power rankings. Panthers and Giants move up to #2 and #3. Jets and Niners move up 2 spots and slot in right behind those two. The Ravens took the biggest hit, moving down 4 spots and sit behind San Fran at #6.

Finally, the Game of the Week is Broncos vs Chiefs. This is a HUGE game for both teams. Not only because of their respective records but because they are division rivals. A win for the Broncos would even the season series and their records with only 2 games left in the season. Intense!

And of course you can view this all yourself here: http://xtreme-football.net/index.php?r=league/index&lid=55

Fun facts I might never have realized without XFN:

The Chargers have played the most difficult schedule in the league (SOS .563). A lot of this has to do with playing in the Division of Death. The 34 wins between the 4 teams of the AFC West are more than any other division. The Chargers are in last place at 6-6-1, the last place team with the next closest record is Dallas at 4-9.

In other words: I hate this division. :D

The Steelers’ Defense Is as Dominant as Ever!

19steelers.xlarge3.jpg

Yeah lol I was looking at that earlier too...I have the 3rd easiest schedule this season :/ I wish my opponents would win more!!!!! (But not against me...)

There's no stats on this, but just from monitoring throughout the year, the Chargers have also been the most injured team in the league by a wide margin, the only team who absorbed close to as many injuries was the Packers. Both starting safeties, both backup safeties, #2 CB, starting ROLB, Antonio Gates, and now Marcus McNeill (that's just a sampling). Not that I'm blaming injuries or anything. :D
