Madden 11 League-OFFICIAL CAG LEAGUE-That's all folks! Mini-tourney still coming tho!
unless I'm controlling them, then it's the other way around :applause:
My theory is that your play with the Patriots is like the Picture of Dorian Gray for the real Patriots. The worse you play, the better they do. So keep it up. ;)

Serious question: Could any team in the NFL get within 3 scores of the Patriots the way they're playing right now? Maybe Atlanta? Maybe.

Cleveland Browns, a healthy Green Bay team, I'd say there are a few. :)

Don't know why that didn't quote, oh well

If the Patriots played the Browns right now they'd win by 50. They actually owe the Browns a beer, because ever since losing that game they've been unstoppable.

As for the Packers, I'd say we'll find out next week but if Rodgers can't go that's going to be a rout.

My Washington Redskins could EASILY get within 3 scores and probably stay there for the better part of the first quarter.

Even if Rodgers plays, they still aren't completely healthy. Way too many scrubs playing right now and it sucks because they'd be different with Finley and Grant still around.

I was invited to that game today at FedEx. Super glad I declined that chance. :D

You could have gone down there and punched Graham Gano in the fucking mouth. That would have been good.

Were they chip shots? I keep missing the highlights

They also screwed up the game-tying extra point, though that wasn't Gano's fault. I maintain he would have missed it anyway.

agreed. they should have gone for two and the win.
Hey gum bill I waited around for a bit. Pm me your availability, we advance tomorrow.
I completely forgot....mom and sister stuck me playing a Wii game and I just forgot about the Madden game. I'm available for a lot of the night if you're still around, if not, tomorrow after work (4-5:00 EST or after) works.

They're still good enough to hang if Rodgers is healthy, even with their massive number of injuries. The Packers are 8-5 now. They have lost 4 games by 3 points each, and then they lost today by 4 with Rodgers out for most of the game:

Week 3: Lost to Bears in Chicago by a field goal with a few seconds left. Green bay was called for its highest number of penalties in over 50 years.

Week 5: Lost to Redskins in Washington after Mason Crosby bounced a FG attempt off the upright and Washington got the game winning kick in overtime.

Week 6: Lost to Dolphins by field goal in overtime. Noticing the trend yet?

Week 12: Lost to Falcons in Atlanta (where Falcons never lose) by a field goal as time expired. Atlanta had converted a 4th and 2 before scoring, when TV replays revealed that the pass was incomplete.

Week 14: Lost to Lions by 4 in Detroit after Aaron Rodgers was injured early in the game.

So 4 road losses, and all losses were by 3-4 points. Even with all the injuries, the Packers have been that close to winning every game. To be fair, however, 4 of Green Bay's 8 wins have come by 9 points or fewer.

So......on a fantasy-football related note (since we're in the playoffs now): I'm pretty sure my hopes of a championship were single-handedly crushed by...wait for it.......JAY FEELY??!?! 30 points?! Are you kidding me?! HE SCORED A 5 YARD TOUCHDOWN RUN???? Wtf kind of twilight zone are we in...

Steelers - 26 Browns 14

Game got disconnected with 30 sec to go and the game didn't count.

I talked to him and he wont be able to play again, also I was gonna win the game.

Stinks too because Mike Wallace was over 300 yards with 3 TDs again.

Can you boot him so I can get this game in tonight?

IRockFatChicks: I replied to the message on XBL that you sent yesterday, I can play tomorrow sometime between 6:30 pm est and 7:30 pm est, or after the Ravens/Texans game is over

Or, tonight between now and midnight.

Gosh I KNEW I should have started Todd Herremans on my fantasy team this week...

On a related note: what a crazy week of football so far...Chicago gets blown out; Kansas City gets blown out; Arizona and San Francisco both blow teams out (I should probably watch my word choice); Green Bay loses to Detroit and scores 3 points (granted they lost Aaron Rodgers late in the first half...but they couldn't do anything offensively that first half anyways); Jay Feely and Todd Herremans get touchdowns; Carolina gets blown out (oops that doesn't belong in this list); Washington loses the game on a blown extra point attempt; and not to mention that crazy situation over in Minnesota...did I miss anything?

What about the defensive game played in a torrential downpour between miami and new york jets....final score 10-6..Fins. Crazy.

Exactly so imagine what this team could do at full strength. Hopefully they can hang tough the rest of the season and make the playoffs.

Thanks DeSean Jackson for single-handily winning me my week. It helps that I have Vick and Philly's D. AND the guy I'm playing has Kitna. So that huge play and the INT in just 5 minutes was like a net gain of something like 20 points. Maybe more. Either way I have a comfortable lead going into tomorrow.

By the way, I'm not ashamed to admit that I stopped watching the Jets game early in the 3rd quarter. It was still a game, but I'm glad I didn't waste my time. They looked like crap and I'm glad I got in 3 hours of basketball instead.

I am so tired of this crap. Up again in the 4th quarter in about as good a game as I've ever played with the Chargers, and of course it drops. Christ.

Edit: He counted the game. Very classy move.

Sheriff Awesome reporting: looks like the Broncos (mog) threw a 40 yard TD pass with 6 seconds left in the 4th quarter when up 28 points.......this is literally ONE DAY after we just talked to him in the other league about not running up the score on your opponent...TOTEZIES NOT COOL DUDE!!!!

Given who he was playing, I'm actually okay with this one.

But yeah, that's obviously a pattern developing and it's not good.

I was about to say...300 yards and 3 TDs sounds like a pretty modest game for Mike Wallace, looks like you got 300/4 this time around.

Isn't 300 yards and 3 TDs a pretty standard Mike Wallace game? FWIW, players who put up bananas stats like that every week are probably going to be exempt from postseason awards in the other league.

Games left:

Vikings/Raiders (are we getting a sub for this, or what?)
Cards/Bucs (status?)
Bengals/Texans (status?)
Lions/Packers (status?)

If you don't mind me playing someone in my division, I'll sub for venom. I'm eliminated from playoff contention anyway.

Speaking of which, if I win my last two (very possible) we're probably looking at the bizarre occurrence of 9-6-1 being just good enough for 4th place in the AFC West. Insane. Realignment anyone? :D

Sure I'll play you if you don't mind tanking.

Thats fine I guess, but all the stats are vs. other players and not the CPU

Haha looks like I been looking up Darthofthedead instead of Darth0fthedead on xbox.com and sending him msg. Hit me up with a PM for when you want to play our game Darth.

And if you DO mind the within-division subbing in this case...then I also wouldn't mind subbing. But by all means...let BV sub, I'm just saying, I'm available if needed.

Anyone wanna scrim?????????? (Using teams from either league)

Maybe if you'd tanked as the Vikings in the other league. ;)

That's not really the point. I just find realistic statlines to be more indicative of quality seasons than off-the-wall video game stats. That's not a criticism of your playstyle, just how I feel about stat accumulation. When you throw it 43 times and run it 8 in a CPU game, guys are going to put up big stats like that.

I didn't always feel that way, in the Madden 10 league I was stat whoring with the best of them and I put up some ridiculous stats with the Titans. I just find it more rewarding to spread the ball around and run a realistic offense, but I don't have any problem with people who do it the other way - it's just me.

I'd hate to show my hand to you in a sub game and have you demolish me with your Panthers when we play someday. Hmm, guess bv sub is fine, although I know my defense is about to have some major problems.

In any case, ubernes needs to boot Venom before it can be played.

I need to hit the hay, so if you want to play it tonight or during the day tomorrow someone else should do it.

I agree when those stats are vs the CPU that they should count, but even when I play other users they shouldn't count towards end of the season awards, how does that work?

Ravens (Deuce20602) - 7th vs the pass: Mike Wallace 6/139/0 & 10/133/1
49ers (Mr Grand Cru) - 8th vs the pass: Mike Wallace 7/210/3

I don't just use him to fill up the stat sheet, I use him because throwing the ball to him gives me the best chance to win.

Lol that wouldn't happen...and key word - "someday"...it doesn't look like we're ever gonna get the chance to play any time soon, although we have a game late in the season in the other league. I haven't gotten the chance to play against you so I'm always looking for the next opportunity to sub for one of your opponents. Plus I don't really alter my game-plan to account for my various opponents' play style (at least from past experiences...obviously I'll change my play-style mid-game if the game calls for it). I pretty much go into each game with a clean slate and it usually takes me at least the first half to get a feel for my opponent's playcalling.

But it's all good, I guess we can shoot for a Superbowl matchup :/ That's a stretch for me...I imagine once the playoffs start, my easy schedule is gonna show when I get destroyed in the first round or something.

Also, in games where I have played other players (12 games) these are his stats

100 / 2084 / 26

12 Catches per game
173.66 yards per game
2.1 TDs per game

I understand that. My point was that he has more catches and more yards than every other player on your team combined. I'm not saying not to do what works.

Maybe it's not accurate to say players like that shouldn't be considered, rather that their stats should be viewed in the context of their usage.

I don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with having one dominant receiver, but you can't deny that it isn't more impressive to have a QB who spreads the ball around to different receivers. If you have one dominant receiver who is able to beat the coverage time after time, it's not very laudable to have him end up with 4000 yards and 50 touchdowns on the season. But I sort of think there could be an argument that it shouldn't affect the receiver but maybe the quarterback? I don't know...it could go either way (or both ways).
