Before the 4th quarter I think keep running your offense. No one should be expecting anyone to completely change their game plan (which has been working obviously) before it's late in the game.

In my opinion, you should be able to keep running your offense the way you want to all the way until the 2 minute warning. Obviously if it's like 2:30 left in the 4th and you're up 3 TDs and are doing stuff like no-huddling, then that's pretty unsportsmanlike...but I don't think a player should be forced to run the clock that far in advance just because they've got a substantial lead by the start of the 4th quarter. I think most people would agree that passing in Madden is funner than running, so players are in a way being penalized for playing TOO good of a game. I'm against running up the score as much as anyone in the league (I'm the freaking Sheriff after all), but I would hate to have to be devoted to running the ball for an entire quarter.

Also, I understand it's respectful to run the clock when you're up by a lot in the 4th quarter...but it's really boring for both teams to sit there and stare at the clock winding down for 40 seconds each play. Just as I have more fun throwing the ball, I also have much more fun defending against the pass too (that's a personal thing though). The only thing I have a problem with (which is what the Titans did against me last season that I complained about) is if people are passing with under 2 minutes left and are doing sneaky things like audibling out of a run play or doing play-action passes.

He could just count the game if he has that option...just so we don't have to wait on your dumb game!!! It looks like he's still in that game for some reason...maybe he's trying to figure out whether or not to count it.

He counted it, which I said he could do. I still need to play Matt anyway.

For the record, I asked if he was willing to play the CPU so I didn't lose my best player for the season on a freak injury and he chose to count it (which I said he could do if he wanted). I'd do that for any of you though, just so you know.
 
The only reason I counted it is because I have to play the rams in the cag2 league at 7 had I didn't have enough time to finish the broncos chargers gamr so I counted it
 
No worries man, it just sucks losing my best defensive player on a play where he wasn't even near the ball.

DUNTA FREAKING ROBINSON....the guy I've been trying to trade for two weeks, gets two interceptions, returns 1 to the 8 and returns another for a TD (68 yards), he also had 6 tackles. I was wondering how I'd gone three games without a Peterson fumble, and I found out my answer when he decided to drop the ball as he went for the goal line on the TD which would have salted it. The Pack got the ball at the 1 but had no timeouts and needed two scores in under 2 minutes. They put up a valiant effort but the drive ended at last with Rodgers' 3rd pick with 13 ticks left.

gg Matt! Out of curiosity, down 9 why didn't you kick the FG as soon as you got to the 34? There were about 35 seconds left I think and you needed 2 scores anyway, seemed to me you should have kicked it right then and then tried the onside kick.
 
You really need to do something bout your connection bv I don't know your situation but it seems to haunt you one way or another every week.

There's not really anything I can do. This time it was a freak thing I think. The game was lag free up to that point and then it just dropped totally. It came back on right after and Matt and I played without any lag whatsoever.

Funny story on that actually. It was my first TD of the game and I pressed early to compensate for lag which didn't end up being there. Force of habit I guess. :D

Just got done re-shuffling my post-Phillips depth charts. There's going to be some very interesting front 7 looks from the Chargers this season. Oh, and I was wrong initially, he's only out for 12 weeks - similar to the Gates injury last season, though probably more devastating since Phillips was such a huge factor for me.
 
Hey everyone, I unfortunately am going to have to take a sabbatical from these leagues. My wife and I recently got a puppy who has been having some issues and I feel bad every time I spend time on here and not help out. I hope this doesn't damage any future gaming we might play together. I'll post this in the other league as well. (Has nothing to do with the beating cru just put on me - that guy is good!)

Since the Saints are open can my friend A Hard from the other league take them? He's still CAG illiterate but he responds to xbox live messages promptly.

Man I don't even understand what I'm doing wrong...my receivers just can't get any separation except for Sanjay Nash on these stupid 5 yard routes. I have no idea what happened in between seasons but it's so hard to get anything going on offense anymore. And again my corners are getting burned on the deep routes...I hate this season.

And I never knew a holding penalty back in your own end zone was an automatic safety...I know intentional groundings are, but not holding penalties.

Yeah it was a good game BV but when I can't beat you with a team I've been using for 3 seasons while you're playing a brand new team for the first time...it's really sad.

Clausen threw for 364 yards, though he was under 50% passing. The turning point was definitely when you scrambled 20 yards backwards one too many times and I forced that goal line (as in your goal line) pick. They were getting pressure on him on that all day, it was only a matter of time.

As for coverage, if I see Devery Henderson uncovered, or covered by a LB, at the line of scrimmage, that's probably the direction I'm throwing it. That dude can flyyyy. :D

Edit: Yeah, that's a safety. I held the ball way too long on that play. I'd say I should have tried to run more, but yeah, Beason.

They have very similar personnel to the Chargers, so it wasn't a gigantic adjustment or anything.

neworlbush is next in line for a team, but A Hard can follow.

edit: And for future reference, when it's the day we advanced and no one is in any rush try not to run to sub. Especially when we have a couple people looking to get into the league that can fill in quickly.
 
The point is my receivers get 0 separation so I have no choice but to scramble to buy some time and let the receivers get open. Clausen is a 57 speed so it never works out very well but I have to try or else I'll just get sacked within 4 seconds of snapping it. I didn't realize it was a 20 yard scramble backwards...I thought I usually scramble right or left, scrambling straight back is really stupid.

Every time you had to scramble, a player of yours would usually get open (seemed like it was usually Shockey) but I don't think that has ever happened for me.

And I really doubt a linebacker was ever on Henderson since he was lined up on the outside and my linebackers play coverage on inside receivers. I need to start matching up my defenders against specific players...I'm sure I could have avoided that if I put Wilson on Henderson and Marshall on Colston.
 
Henderson was in the slot the whole game actually, I never lined him up outside. Both of his receptions ended up down the sidelines, but they were coming out of the slot.

As for scrambling and finding my guys open, I pretty much always use plays which have an option at every level in case the play blows up and I can't find my primary target. Once a game against you I end up throwing it at Beason anyway though, I don't know why I always do that lol

Man I'm really depressed right now...I kind of just want to hibernate and wait til next season so I have another year of progression for my young/horrible team. If you look at Clausen's stats this season vs. last season, it's like 15% less completion percentage and 6 TDs to 8 interceptions. Then there's Stewart, who's averaging a little over 4 yards a carry. Either everyone's defenses got a whole lot better or my offense got a whole lot worse, I'm so confused.

Oh but the one bright spot of that game: I finally got the 60+ yard FG achievement...Swenson hit a 60 yarder and a 61 yarder.

Oops, sorry bush..it was my fault. I didn't even think about waiting til a new player picked up the Saints to play our game, I was so eager to play. That was really dumb of me. Your team was in good hands though...we still got another match later in the season.
