Madden 11 League-OFFICIAL CAG LEAGUE-That's all folks! Mini-tourney still coming tho!

Speaking of trades... next up for review...

Dolphins Trade: 2013 1st Round Draft Pick, Andrew Gardner (LG 78 OVR, B Pot,28 years old ), & Will Allen (CB 73 OVR, B Pot, 35 years old)

Cardinals Trade: Aqib Talib (CB 93 OVR, A Pot, 27 Years old)

Wait, didn't Darth just say he was tired of people asking about Talib? lol

Anyway, that looks fine to me, though typically in those 1st round pick + player for stud deals the player the other team gets back is younger than the stud (like in the Fitz deal, and the Wayne deal in the other league). At this point, Will Allen is getting pretty long in the tooth for a CB, isn't he?
That's a very interesting idea, though I suspect it would be tricky to implement in practice.
I don't think it would be any more tricky than the current trading tracking system we maintain in the OP.

Yea but he's just an add on for depth, I think...the LG is the key +the 1st rounder of course

Who decides which players get dropped? not all 70-89 players are created equal.
Who decides which players get dropped? not all 70-89 players are created equal.
We can create quotas depending on your team's finish (draft position). The last 4 teams (conference champ. participants) have to drop 2 players between 80-89 and 2 players between 70-79.

The next 4 teams have to drop 3 total players 2 80-89 and 1 70-79.

The next eight drop 1 player between 80-89 and 1 between 70-79.

Everyone else (bottom-half of league-top 16 by draft position) drop 2 players of their choice between 70-89.

Keep in mind that I'm creating this as I go along...

No more confusing than the trade rules for each season imho...and I'm sure in some cases we will have some undesirable players end up free-agents, but not every team will have that luxury. If for some reason that were the case we can raise the quota to include players 90+ depending of course...
I'm not in favor of the trading frenzy either.

I understand uber's point about roster turnover but I think we could create our own free agency during the off-season by releasing a certain number of players(2,3,4) rated between say, 70-89 create a wire the same way we do for free agent pick ups currently and we could essentially get the same effect regarding roster turnover without getting rid of core players or stacking teams.

My $.02
I like this and thought of something similar at one point this season. I don't know if it's something we want to try this upcoming offseason, though if there's ever a time to test this out now might be it instead of a fresh Madden 12 season.

Would we just have a waiver order based on standings? I have a feeling doing like an auction style draft might make it too complicated with everyone, but probably more fair.

The main catalyst for me telling everyone to get bent on talib and drc was that they were ridiculous deals right off the start, kinda' insulted my intelligence, and were made by people who already consistently pounded me into the ground. Fero was great trying to work out so both of us would benefit not just him.
Fanceca will be 39 next year (I was surprised he didn't retire this year) and I have no one even decent to replace him. Allen is old too but I'm rolling the dice to squeak out another year. My 1st round pick that I'll be getting will be going toward another CB so I'm hoping I'll have DRC, allen, and the rookie covering the slot guy.
The way I see it CB's help compliment your D and controlling your FS/MLB is really want makes the difference. Despite Talib coming away with some terrific picks he's not going to make or break my D because it's kind of up to me to get better at utilizing the FS/MLB posistions.

No issue with this one.

I guess that depends on how much time and effort the commissioner would be willing to sacrifice. My initial thought was to have a auction style the way we did the very first fa signings.

Can you refresh our memory on how that was done?
I think there interesting, but I've always been a fan of keeping a team as close as it is to the original on Madden, not sure why, I guess I'm a purist.
Same here, but didn't really ever get to field my full lineup in either of the first 2 seasons in this league due to injuries. Prior to this season, I was ready to remake the team, but now I'm not sure what to do. I guess I'd better figure it out soon.
Can you refresh our memory on how that was done?
Uber broke the league down based on standings, maybe 8 teams in a group. Then gave each group a deadline to submit a list of players (don't remember how many players) that we'd like to acquire and assigned players accordingly.

That's up to u bv... I can play Any week day after work up till 8. If ur willing to let someone sub that's fine with me... If we wait till tomm id like to try do it asap just so we have time to replay in case ur internet goes out on u

I definitely won't be home before 8 tonight. Not sure about tomorrow, though it's a busy week for me overall at work so another late night isn't out of the question. I don't mind if someone subs for me if you're still available to play in about an hour.. Anyone available who can?

And I'm assuming the trading deadline is sometime soon so I got casel glen dorsey justin smith tamba hali up if anyones interested.....

Awesome idea, imo. Great way to keep the teams fresh every season while fair.

I may be interested in glen dorsey

We did free agency last year in the other league I'm in and frankly I don't think it's worth the effort. We pretty much used the exact system that is being described above and all it became was people dropping fullbacks and really old offensive linemen.

We didn't even bother doing it this year because of how worthless it was.

That's kind of how I saw it shaking out as well. I think it's a good idea, but I'm pretty sure there are going to be very few truly high-impact players (if any) hitting the wire in that scenario.

Now if we randomly dropped a couple players from each team that could be interesting. :D (I'm mostly joking about that, btw)

what are you looking for for dorsey?

I can sub for BV against sprice. If I'm not mistaken, it's scheduled for 5:30 p.m. EST? We got a ton of snow last night so I'm pretty much trapped here for the time being.

Thanks Sheriff. I'll drop shortly from the franchise website (it seems to be down right now). Enjoy my bevy of receivers. :D

Did we get word on if sprice could do tomorrow sometime? If not, I'll temp boot bv so MA can get in there.

edit: whoops, bv beat me to it. let me know if you have trouble dropping.

For whatever reason the franchise site is down, so go ahead and boot me. Just make sure to send me an invite back. ;)

I don't know...I feel like this "dropping 4 players" thing is a little extreme. If I understand correctly, we'd be restricting all trading and just doing this instead? I feel like every single team dropping 4 players and picking up 4 new players is gonna shuffle rosters around a little too much. Players in the 70s and 80s are probably mostly gonna be starters, so they're a rather significant part of your team. I don't think we've been making THAT many trades in this league...so I think this would end up screwing teams rosters up even more than they are already.

I still really like the idea of trading. We have 30 other people able to give their input on each trade, so if there's a trade that doesn't look fair then we can always scrap it. We don't have to put through these ridiculous trades if people would speak out more. Like this last trade between the 49ers and Lions...a couple people were vocal about it at the start but now more people are starting to come out against it after it was already put through. I realize I'm one of those people who's trading my really good players to already good people (DeAngelo Williams to Seattle and Steve Smith to Baltimore) but I don't think those were out of line or anything. It's just an unnecessary luxury to have 2 REALLY good backs in this league, and I had already tried to trade Stewart but I didn't get any offers so I gave up Williams instead. I traded Steve Smith back when I thought players progressed based on how well they did in the season, so I wanted my raw rookie WR with good potential to get more playing time.
I should be home around 530 6 latest..... and for glen dorsey id take trade offers... wat do u guys think he's worth...
7th rounder.

I forget when it stopped, but I believe Madden progression used to work that way, at least offline.

Good thing it doesn't, or Mike Wallace would be a 246 OVR by now. :D
Young CBs or DEs with high potential.
Would you trade Lewis with Robinson if you were getting a young CB and a veteran WR back? So your vet CB+young WR for vet WR+young CB? The overalls probably work out slightly in your favor.

edit: nevermind, it would be -6 in my favor in the deal I'm rolling over in my head right now.

I think I'm supposed to play sprice soon but BV isn't dropped from the league yet. The EA site is back up so if you're there BV....can you go ahead and drop since I think I'm gonna have to make a lot of depth chart changes lol. Or if it's not a problem for you Uber can you go ahead and kick him?

Sorry, I was in a meeting. Yeah, they always screw with my depth chart every time it drops (including putting Antonio Gates at long snapper every time) so you'll definitely want to mess with those a bit.

I'm assuming you meant Jerricho Cotchery and Earlzo Kyaunn. I don't think I'm interested in that. Dunta still has a few more years left and Onaje Lewis is going to be amazing within the next season.

Yeah that depth chart was a mess. I had a tough time figuring out what I wanted to do with the linebacker situation, you have a lot of mediocre/decent ones lol. And it took me a while to get the secondary situated, but I'm happy with everything now...I'm ready whenever Sprice gets on.

And yeah Gates was the long snapper too.

That's fine. I dunno if I want to do it either, but I know I'm going to have to draft a WR soon. Although I'm sure Cotchery will be kicking around for a little while long. Kyaunn already matches Dunta in keys stat, has 98 speed and is A potential so I think he'll be rather amazing next season as well.

It's tough with Phillips out. I actually start English at RE and then end up playing my MLBs at the OLB spots, since I have three decent but not great ones (Spikes, Butler, Siler). Losing Phillips definitely has forced some creative looks in the front 7.
