To be fair, there are a few people in this league who are still able to run successful passing-based offenses. It's just a lot fewer than it was last year.
my 5500 pass yard seasons with Henne are sadly over. Lol.
Yeah. It's still very possible to pass successfully, but almost every winning team in this league right now is predicated on running the ball first.

I didn't realize Gabbert was out for most of the season, that definitely makes it a bit more apparent why DVO would want to go out and get a QB. Though if I were him I'd be shopping around for someone a bit younger, since Schaub isn't going to take him anywhere this year. At 0-4 already, he'd basically have to win out to have any shot at the playoffs.

Chad Henne and Matt Moore are BOTH on the block..... :)

After seeing your turnaround from last year to this year, I doubt anybody is going to be lining up to trade for either of those guys. ;)

Good! The league has been collectively mediocre at passing. Glad to see more folks running the ball.

Trading for Schaub let's Gabbert progress this year and probably next year too. I can see your point about the playoffs, but can you blame him for still trying to compete? He could've easily packed it in for the year after Gabbert got hurt.

Schaub shouldn't regress. Manning and Brady are way older and haven't dropped at all.

Both trades look good to me. I know DVO perfers a power back so MJD isn't quite his style, even though I don't think I would ever sell him ;)

I'm not saying Schaub is going to regress (A potential QBs almost never do until they retire), just that he's not going to go up either. What you see is what you get.

I don't blame him for trying to compete, just wanted to make sure he's aware since he's new that even 10 or 11 wins isn't likely to be good enough in the AFC, based on last year.

I've tried to go pass first and have had some success, but I usually fall back to running the ball. I like more of a west coast style of passing so I never amass many yards.

Same. Tom Brady lead the league in completion percentage last year but was nowhere near the top in yards. I've found that kind of offense can still be successful when paired with a good running game.

It's definitely not like last year when you could air it out with reckless abandon though, the defensive AI is too good now.

Nobody really had great success passing other then sprice. We were all pretty much even in our TD-INT ratio.

I'm so glad it's not like last year. The zone defense actually works for me.

I have much more success passing when I pick my spots. It's when I get down and am forced to rely on the pass that the picks start coming. It's not an accident that Brady threw 4 picks in the game that I lost after getting down early, and hasn't even dinged a defender in the hands since.

I believe that's been uber's problem this season as well.

in 4 games played i have 19 20 picks already... last season broke the td record now looks like staffords aiming for most interceptions in a season

No Coincidence the 4 interceptions on you and 7 interceptions on him came against me or nothing.... nooooo :D

Lol. you know I love you both.
Yep Stafford leads the league with 19 picks. Sanchez is 2nd with 16.
And the Dolphins Defense leads the league with 15...... (who'd of thunk it.....)

(( I just realized i have nothing better to do than stare at this forum today..... yay for lazy mondays at work.))

Enjoy the lead while it lasts. I plan on taking the INT crown!

It wasn't taking anything away from you, haha. If you hadn't jumped up 24-0, I wouldn't have been throwing nearly as much as I did, meaning fewer picks.

I only had 10 rushing attempts in that game, compared to 23 and 30 in my next two games (both lopsided victories). You get all the credit in the world for forcing me to abandon what I want to do on offense. ;)

i've got 2...maybe 3 trade talks in the works that might solidify me holding my lead. lol

Amazingly, I doubt I'm going to make any more trades this season. I'm pretty happy with my team as it's composed, I can't really think of any area I'd like to improve.

I might end up moving Ochocinco to someone who needs help at WR, just because I'd like to work some of my other receivers in a bit more, plus he hasn't been seeing the field as much since my current offense doesn't have as many plays with a 3rd WR (and if it does, it's usually Aaron Hernandez).

i just want to put it out there that my gf watches me play and gets tired of hearing the commentators say that shoulda been picked off cause my guys cant catch shit... lol with that said fuck the interception crown!
I sent Cru a PM - hoping to get our game in tonight after 6:30pmEST.
Alright.

The other two games are Browns-Cardinals (I'll send my brother a text and see what's up) and Bears-Chargers.

Let's get this done guys!

Yeah I wish they kept dropped picks as a stat. I have plenty of those.

Me too. And thank god. If every ball that hit a defender in the hands was picked, no one would be able to pass in this league period. Linebackers make way too many acrobatic interceptions as it is. If they caught them all, the game would be unplayable.

but on big last minute plays and my guy drops a pick and then they score to win the game i wanna break the game lol

True, though the constant dropped picks need to go. NFL 2K didn't have that problem, though that game was a lot slower paced. At least 5 times per game the ball bounces around 2 defenders and neither one comes up with it.

I know there's a reason these guys aren't receivers, but my goodness.

As for acrobatics, the one handed linebacker picks that defy gravity are hilarious.

Yeah, but what I'm saying is that I'm glad that it's balanced out somewhat. If the acrobatic linebacker picks weren't there, I'd be equally frustrated by the dropped interceptions by DBs. But given that the number of picks we already see in this league, I have a hard time wishing for anything which would lead to more.

I can never have enough interceptions!

Hoping to get the Chiefs back on the field sometime tonight. They'll take on the Chargers before their week 6 showdown with the Dolfeens

Cardinals Vs. Browns should be at 8:30 PM EST tonight.

MasterAwesome pm'ed me and said he was free then, I PM'ed back saying lets play at that time.
I didn't hear back from him, but since it's the deadline, I'm assuming we are on.

My bad, Ultimate Matt X then... Thanks
Trade up for review:

Dolphins Send:
QB Chad Henne, 77 OVR, B Pot

Seahawks Send:
CB Byron Maxwell, 72 OVR, B Pot
Seems perfectly cromulent.

It looks like we'll be advancing at around 9:30PM EST tonight. Feel free to start scheduling your games.
Texans/Jags trade - I guess I'd lean towards approving it, though I'd want to make sure both sides really thought it through.
I have a plan for my team and trading Schaub while he was still worth it is a very important piece to the plan. It also helped that I was able to get a QB worthy of a selection (and a starting spot according to his physical attributes) in the 3rd round of last years draft. I like to stack picks and build through the draft, Schaub is in his prime, but the rookie is better physically so, he became expendable. Especially in light of the fact that the picks could be in the top half of the draft...

Here's where we stand:

Eagles/Jets trade
- There seems to be some confusion here from Pacer based on his last post. Before this goes through I want to make sure he's aware that Ducasse is an offensive tackle, not a defensive tackle.

Texans/Jags trade - Approved (assuming uber has no objection). I'm a big believer in people being able to run their own teams as long as the trade is fair for both sides. A first and a third feels like fair compensation for Schaub.

Lions/Jags trade - I'd like to hear a bit more discussion on this once, since I don't think many people have weighed in yet. "Moving MJD" should garner "Moving AP" levels of discussion, so I'd like to hear some more opinions (if there are any) before we approve it.

Dolphins/Seahawks trade - Approved. I don't think we need to put a Chad Henne blockbuster through the ringer.
Trade Up For Review

PHI send QB Vince Young 76 OVR 29 B POT

BUCS send C Jeremy Zuttah 78 OVR 26 C POT and a 4th round draft pick

Just reposting this
I believe we lost track of this one.. Do you guys still want to do this?

They intercept a lot more passes in this madden than any other madden ever...there just real strict with db's catch ratings. A 60 catch rating for a defensive player is outstanding.

Doesn't DRC have like an 80 catch rating? That's better than some receivers. Asante also has an 80 (he picked off 3 passes for me in Week 2).

Deangelo Hall - 86
Antonio Cromartie- 82
Aqib Talib - 81
D.J. Moore - 81
Asante Samuel - 80
Charles Woodson - 79
Patrick Peterson - 79
DRC - 79
Alterraun Verner - 79
Tramon Williams - 79
Perrish Cox - 78
Joe Haden - 77
Alphonso Smith - 77
Antoine Cason - 77

Now i see that it was no fluke that deangelo picked me off in the endzone and ran it back for 99 yards.... :(

Sorry, I was aware and just wasn't paying much attention when I wrote my comment. I approve this.

Yea like u said if they picked off everyone they dropped there would be way too many...with that said there clearly weren't enough in recent maddens in my opinion. A lot of other things go into it to, like how hard the ball is thrown, if u gun one at a defender from a short distance, he ain't catchin it 99% of the time especially with brady or rodgers or vick
