Alright so here is what I ordered from Amazon:

Video card - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005C8RTTU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

Power supply -http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004W2T2U6/ref=oh_details_o00_s01_i00

In case the links don't work...that's the Sapphire AMD Radeon 6870 Video Card and the Corsair 500W Power supply. Can people give me feedback on these (namely any concerns in case I end up needing to cancel my order before they ship)? This package ran me $230...JUST to play freaking Diablo 3 (gonna be about $300 since I've yet to buy the actual game), but luckily I have a lot of money saved up so I'm not gonna cry about it. I even payed an extra $8 to have it shipped by Tuesday so I can get on that shiz ASAP!! My major concern is that people are saying the 6870 video card is really big so I'm not sure if I'll have any trouble trying to install that big boy in my CPU...

And I dunno much about computers sprice, but the cards I've been bothering everyone about are Video Cards (or "Graphics cards") that you need to run high-end games that are pretty demanding on your PC. Apparently there are "power supplies" that you need to worry about upgrading too...I didn't even know those existed until today. Then you gotta worry about your processor, RAM, hard drive space, etc....if your PC is kinda old then you're gonna have to drop a ton of money on this damn game.

MA shoot me a PM with your specs and I'll let you know. Just looking at those though I don't think you should have a problem. I don't think Diablo 3 is too demanding though I haven't looked at the requirements yet.

chargers upset the steelers at home.

The first drive looked good for the steelers when they intercepted a pass intended for gates on the second play of the game leading to the first scoring drive. After that the weather may have been a factor. But not for Phillip Rivers who had an outstanding game through the air with 17 out of 21 passes completed and 2 touchdowns for 229 yards. Big Ben didn't budge with 286 yards. The downfall of course was turnovers.

A game were it was close until the turnovers came in big defense stands in the redzone for San Diego. the Chargers defense picked up 5 passes from Ben sealing the deal.

Final SD 27-Pit 14

Thanks BV, I know it's not TOO demanding but from what I understand; if I invest in a slightly better video card/power supply, then the game will run smoother at a higher FPS and it'll help preserve my CPU for longer too...so I guess it should be a good investment.

How do Video Cards and Power Supplies factor into laptops though? Those things are pretty darn big so I don't see either fitting into my laptop...and will they help with the overheating issue? My laptop honestly overheats when I play the Facebook version of Bejeweled Blitz on it...so I can't imagine what Diablo 3 will do lol.

Graphics cards work differently in laptops. There's no way of upgrading unless you want to spend more than it's worth because they use integrated/dedicated graphics cards.

As for the overheating, try updating your drivers.

This is why I've been in the "Laptops Are Overrated" camp for awhile now. In 6 months, the thing is outdated, and if even a small component stops working, your entire system could be shot. I'm a Desktop/Tablet guy now. The only usefulness I see laptops having is if somebody traveled a lot and had to put in some heavy work on the road.

I like laptops cause I'm such a casual internet surfer...it's perfect for just lying on the couch in front of the tv with some Sportscenter on in the background or something. Like I said, I don't ever play computer games so a desktop does nothing for me that a laptop can't. I imagine a tablet would be pretty good for that too (I've never owned one), but I hate trying to type stuff letter by letter on a stupid touch-screen. I HAD to get a phone with a keyboard even if I had to downgrade a bit.

I'm in that camp as well, in fact I'll never buy another laptop. The value you get out of a desktop is just infinitely better (especially if you build your own), and they are also much more reliable and last longer.

The only time I ever use a laptop is for work, and when I do I get a loaner from the office.

I enjoyed having a laptop in college for note taking, etc but now I'd probably just take my iPad. Desktops are ok but I can't sit in my office all night surfin the web either.

The iPad is the best device work has bought for everyone in awhile :D

So yeah, in a roundabout way I've given up on laptops as well, but the utility of a desktop is fairly limited as well. At work I have a Mac Pro and an HP 2760 tablet/laptop, both get a ton of use. At home my iPad gets used way more than my desktop...go figure.

Comparing apples to oranges, if you are going to be playing Diablo 3, there is no need to go out and build a gaming laptop, on the other hand if you are going to be playing FPS shooters such as Crysis. Call of duty, or battlefield, then i would buy a gaming laptop, but for a good top of the line system you are looking at +$4,000.00.

One thing i will never do again is buy an apple product, i have gone through hell with their customer service.

I built my desktop last year for under $2000 and it can run any game currently on the market, most at max settings. Gaming on laptops has never made any sense to me.

That was supposed to say *gaming desktop, don't think i have seen a laptop for $4,000, i would also have to HDMI it to my TV, i couldn't play on a 14" screen.
In that case you can get a top-of-the-line system for way less than $4000 if you build it yourself.
I was being too literal, i was figuring top products for gaming, dual top of line 3d cards would run you over a grand, same with the top notch CPU would probably run you around a grand. But as everyone knows it is useless:booty: buying the newest computer parts, as technology roughly doubles every other year, and it is much cheaper to build your own, it's fun and easy too. Laptops are too ridiculous to work on. I remember I took an old Dell laptop i had apart, and they build them so you basically cannot get into them, it was the biggest pain in the ass working on, all i was trying to do was replace the casing around of one of my USB ports which had cracked, and i had to take apart every piece of my laptop to do so, took much longer than I expected.
There is no point in spending over $1500 on a custom PC.
I agree with this. I'd rather go cheap and do upgrades every 1-1.5 years than spend a ton and be stuck with it for several years. On the other hand, 'expensive' is relative, so to each their own.

Remaining Games:

Saints-Vikings
Patriots-Jets (7PM tonight)
Panthers-Bucs
Packers-Bears
Falcons-Lions (going on now I believe)
Seahawks-Broncos

I'm not counting my chickens yet.

Getting off my Xbox since it's almost an hour and a half past time for Packers/Bears and I have no idea when he'll be back. Her PM'ed me at 1-something.

New England Patriots 17 - New York Jets 7

In an early battle for first place in the AFC East, the Patriots traveled to New York and knocked off the Jets in a low-scoring affair which featured the Patriots rushing attack doing what it does, and a turnover from a most unlikely source.

The Patriots marched down the field on the opening drive using nothing but the ground game, culminating in a 21-yard score by Leshoure. Both offenses were quiet for the rest of the half save for a Gostkowski field goal late. The Jets one early drive which looked promising was stamped out when the Patriots pulled a trick out against the no huddle and dropped Wilfork into coverage. Sanchez threw it right into his bread basket for the pick (the irony of Wilfork getting a pick in a game in which Revis and Cro each dropped one is not lost on me, lol). The Pats finally broke through again late when Cobie Ross got loose for a 64 yard score. The Jets were finally able to find the endzone on a Best pass from Sanchez with 1:28 left, but the Pats recovered the onside kick and were able to run out the clock for the win.

McCoy was an unspectacular 3 of 7 for 25 yards.

Sanchez was 11 of 21 for 162 yards, 1 TD and 1 fat-man INT.

Cobie Ross carried 17 times for 195 yards and a score, with Mikel Leshoure pitching in 13 for 70 and a TD of his own.

Jahvid Best carried 14 times for 79 yards.

Roddy White caught 2 balls for 16 yards for the Pats, who barely threw.

Dustin Keller lead the Jets with 4 for 44. Best had the TD.

The Pats got a pick from Wilfork and a sack by Carswell, while the Jets didn't put up any defensive stats of note (though did do a great job in coverage the few times McCoy dropped back).

The big injury blow was the Jets losing Santonio Holmes for 10 weeks.

gg n8! Definitely a closer game than even the 10-point spread indicates. If Cro or Revis hold on to those picks (neither were gimmies, but those guys are pretty good) it could have been a very different game. I also got a bit of a break with that ball right into Wilfork's ample stomach, but that was at least part strategy since I did drop him into coverage.

See you in Week 14.

I will be relatively available over the next couple hours; just watching a Blu-ray. He has my number from texting regarding a past game, so he can reach me when he gets his stuff taken care of. I just don't know what happened or how long he expects to be gone. If possible, I'd like to avoid playing a sub out of respect to Mog since it's a division game.

Alright well shoot me a PM if you feel like you've waited long enough and want to get it in. I can probably sub for him if he can't be reached.
