Does it always just freeze, or do you ever get a looping error (I forget the exact message...but it's a blue screen)? I had a hell of a time with my Radeon card and Asus motherboard working well together. I found out it had something to do with ATI's software that they use to control the grapics card (Catalyst Control Center). My system would run for a while and then just crash for no reason. I thought maybe it was doing it cause I had too much running at once, but then it would crash when I had nothing open at all.
Then, I thought it could be my power supply not having enough juice. I replaced it...still had the same problem. Google searches revealed numerous others who had the same problem, but no one who had completely solved it...just people suggesting to make sure they were using the most recent ATI drivers and software. Even with everything updated, I still kept getting crashes. But what I noticed, was if I didn't install an ATI driver at all...and just used the default windows video driver, it never crashed (something you might want to test).
The downside of this was that it was drastically limiting the card's capabilities (though, at that point, I was happier not having to reset my computer 15 times a day). FINALLY, after researching it on and off for months, I found a post from somebody saying that they kept installing older versions of Catalyst Control Center (and driver) until they found one that didn't crash. I hunted down that specific version, installed it, and voila...no crashes ever since. Not sure if this is the same thing you're experiencing, but it might be worth doing some trouble shooting of your own. Sometimes the "Geeks and Geniuses" don't always have all the answers.
My computer freezes each time, no error messages. Sometimes the screen will turn a bluish color (not like the typical bright blue screen that you sometimes see with error messages, but a sort of dull shade) and sometimes it'll just turn black...a little duller than the shade of black you get when your monitor is turned off. I've been googling a ton of variations of my problem, trying to be as detailed as possible, but I haven't found anything too similar yet.
Thanks for trying to help though guys. I'll just try a different guy at Office Depot again tomorrow and then maybe the Best Buy Geek Squad or something after...
