Madden 13 Official CAG League - On Hiatus. See you in August for Madden 25!

Since people are throwing out who they drafted, here's mine.

Round 1: CB Xavier Simmons 80 OVR (Hopefully he'll develop into the shut down corner I need.)
Round 2: FS Kenneth Lyons 70 OVR (Already has starter stats, and he has the the quick development trait. He's going to be a monster in a few seasons)
Round 3. (Alex Smith)
Round 4. CB Harris Madru 68 OVR (Has 86 Man Coverage.)
Round 5. RE Nate Davis 73 OVR
Round 6. RG Zach Vallette 50 OVR (He won't be starting anytime soon)
Round 7. WR Terry McFadden 63 OVR

So overall not a great draft, but it filled some much needed spots.

Here's my draft. Not sure what order.

QB Allen Barber 66 ovr.
RE E. Williams 87 ovr 89spd 93acc 82awr
MLB O. McCurty 73 ovr
CB a. Pieteat 66 ovr
CB x. Bush72 ovr
ROLB C. Arollo 74 ovr
MLB B. Carr 74 ovr

bengals scooped up terrence newmans replacement in mark fightmaster (sick name). got eduardo andry in the first round, RB 77ovr. hes more of a power back, but hes an 89 speed not bad. if anyone wants him hes available for trade. i also have orson charles 69TE. hes only a 75 speed and like a 60something route runner but the rest of his recieving stats are in the 80's hes also on the block

Oh, sure, I'll jump in on this too...

Round 1: RB Aerion Boudreaux, 78 Overall
99 Speed! Time to figure out how to run the ball! I used him in a practice already and I'm already seeing the difference with a back who can make it around the edge. Mostly a Sproles type back now, but has a high carry and even his powerback stats (stiff arm, trucking) are in the 70s. Superstar development trait will help here.

Round 2: OLB Kalik Turner, 76 Overall
Mostly a need pick with Aaron Mabin leaving and my current starting sitting at 69 OVR. 80+ block shedding and tackle are his highlights, so pretty average across the board, but again another Superstar development player so hopefully I can boost him to a capable player quickly. Another immediate starter for my team.

Round 3: RT Jeff Ross, 81 Overall
With three RTs on my roster, I didn't need Ross but he was best available and at 81 OVR he's better than all my other RT I had already (at least by OVR). His pass and run block attributes are only 77, but looking at another Superstar development player so he'll start to get those much-needed reps. High strength and impact blocking already, which is good because strength is expensive and impact blocking I hate sinking XP into. **If you drafted RG Cane, I would love to swap!**

Round 4: FB Okoye Aristotle, 77 Overall
I would be lying if I didn't say I didn't draft this guy mostly for his name. He does have Quick development and he's only the 2nd FB on my team (and my current starter is on the last year of his deal), so I'm pretty happy with the pick. Only 70 run block, but high trucking and decent catching for a FB. Might be my 4th starter from this draft class.

Round 4: RE Javia General, 79 Overall
Another best available pick that worked out for me. I don't know where I'll fit him in with Coples (last year's rookie) as my main DE backup but he'll get some time for sure. Very average end stats: 73 power moves, 61 block shed, 68 pursuit, but another Quick development guy, so here's hoping.

Round 4: WR Aaron Graham, 65 Overall
Here I just decided to draft WRs in hope to finding a gem. Whiffed here. 87 release, 86 speed, 81 catch in traffic, 71 catch, so could be worse.

Round 5: WR Levi Watson, 66 Overall
6'4", 232 pounds. My dumpster diving in WR paid off a bit here. 74 catch, 86 catch in traffic, 89 spectacular catch, 75 route running, 91 release, 99 jump, 87 speed. Don't mind if I do! Will slide in as my #4 WR right away. Once I boost that catch, he might move up further. Stephen Hill already dropped 2 wide open catches in practice, so might be sooner rather than later we see Watson.

Round 6: WR Tyree Brown, 58 Overall
I wasn't kidding about drafting all WRs and hoping for a gem. Whiffed here too.

Round 7: WR Brandon Harris (UConn alum!), 60 Overall
96 speed, will be returning kicks and punts. Fairly poor receiving attributes though. 76 catch, 68 catch in traffic, 79 route running, 71 release. Definitely a special teamer.

Group 2 May Now Pick

1. Jags - FS Nick Collins
2. Seahawks
3. Browns
4. Bucs - K Dave Rayner
5. Cowboys
6. Raiders - CB Rashean Mathis
7. Giants
8. Packers
9. Jets - RT Mike Pollak
10. Colts - CB Marcus Trufant
11. Vikings
12. Dolphins - TE C. Miilines
13. Chargers
14. Steelers
15. Chiefs - FB Bryan Young
16. Rams -FS Husain Abdullah

This group will have until 7:00 PM EST tonight. If you're in group 1 and you haven't picked yet, you still can.

A few things to note:

1. If your roster isn't full, you don't need to drop a guy. But please post who you pick up.

2. Keep your cap space in mind. These guys do take contracts, so you might not be able to sign the expensive guys without dropping someone.

3. As always, we go by posts in the thread, not who adds them first in game. Once you post in the thread that you added a guy, he's yours.

4. Make sure you don't sign anyone on the restricted list (can someone re-post that?) unless their owner has said they don't want them.
Ram's sign FS Husain Abdullah.

I ain't having no 50 ovr rookie playing 2nd string! haha.
Abdullah would've been my starter.

I almost took him, but my starting RG is in the high 60s. Gotta think of my new running game first.
whats the advance schedule for the preseason?
TBD. We might need to finish FA before we advance to prevent the CPU from auto-filling rosters from the pool. We're discussing it now.

Im thinking it will auto-fill anyways up to 75 for each team. Didn't we have to make cuts at each stage last preseason?

No it's not doing that again this year.
No it's not doing that again this year.
Good to know...but does it auto fill up to 53? You seem to be pretty well versed in matters involving the clusterfuck that is connected careers

i really hope connected careers is better in 2014 the system could be amazing they just need to fix the bugs in there new project and prepare better next year and realize wut they messed up on and correct it and it would be so much mroe fun. but unless they have another company going against them they can just do whatever they want and keep it how it is
Good to know...but does it auto fill up to 53?
It might not auto-fill all the way to 53, but I do think it would to at least meet the position minimums in order to sim the unplayed preseason games.

FA and Preseason Advance Schedule

Monday 10:30AM EST: FA Round 1 Group #2 (currently phase)
Monday 7:00PM EST: FA Round 1 Group #3
Monday 11:00PM EST: FA Round 1 Group #4
Tuesday 10:00AM EST: FA Round 2 1-16 (switching to two groups of 16)
Tuesday 3:00PM EST: FA Round 2 17-32
Tuesday 7:00PM EST: FA Round 3 17-32 (we'll reverse the order for round 3)
Tuesday 8:00PM EST FA Round 3 1-16
Tuesday 9:00PM EST: Free Agency OPEN (after this, it's free-for-all)
Tuesday 10:30PM EST: Advance to preseason Week 2
Wednesday Night: Advance to preseason Week 3
Friday Afternoon: Advance to preseason Week 4
Saturday Morning: Advance to Regular Season

I realize not all the times are even, but we're trying to get both FA and the preseason done without dragging on too much. Hopefully knowing exactly when your FA group is up will also help people out in scheduling.

Any issues with this?
I like the idea of flipping FA order. Keeps it fair, nice job guys.
Right. Two rounds of 1-32 and then one round of 32-1 seems like a good balance. Can't let Tanabeo sign everyone. :D
Already PMed all my preseason opponents. Need to get work in with these new guys.
Good idea. I'd encourage everyone to do this.

If you're going to be out of town (as I'm sure some will be) please set your team to auto before you go. We'll switch it back off for the regular season obviously.
Did y'all except me and cru trade ?????
Considering this trade was posted at 12:40 A.M.....and all 6 of the Committee members have real life jobs, and (presumably) beds to sleep in...

No, this trade has not been "Accepted" or "Approved" yet.

We've only had two votes on your trade.

You will know whether it gets approved or declined.

Word.

This kind of post really needs to stop. Everyone on the committee is busy and we get to the deals as quickly as we can. Posting stuff like this doesn't make the process any faster, no matter how many question marks you attach to it. Sorry to single you out Man2008, since you're not the only one who does it, but it's really not helpful.

I will be out of town so I'll just post my FA pick ups. Tonight whens its free for all. They're just all backups and what not.
Looking at my schedule I think I may be able to slip into the wildcard if I win some hard games.
I'll be making no such predictions after last year, but I think a little balance will go a long way for me. Looking forward to the season starting w/ these new guys.

Any chance I can pick up a LG so I can practice? I have time now before the Bears game tonight and it wont let me do anything w/o a LG.

Thanks

Dang...well SOMEBODY sure referenced the draft sheet excel file!! Quite a good haul you got there...

I used that excel file to bump up some players I already planned on drafting to the top of the list lol. That WR I got was #2 on my list, and the LT was #1 (at their respective positions...I wasn't sure who I was gonna draft where).

Yeah, I admittedly abused that thing right after my 1st pick. I knew Boudreaux was my #1 choice, but everyone else was definitely because of that sheet. Hey, with the 9th worst team in the league, I had to avoid any busts in the draft.

Yes. Please pick up the lowest possible LG and then drop him right after. Anyone who wants to get their practice in can do this, but please always pick up the lowest rated guy. I don't want to dilute the FA pool by having people temporarily pick up useful players. Once we've fully opened up FA tomorrow night, everyone will be able to fill out their rosters permanently.

I know this is all very inconvenient, but I do think it'll all be worked out by tomorrow evening and then it's back to our regularly scheduled programming.
haha In typical Browns fashion, I just made the Ravens rookie HB look like a star.
Playing the defending and three time super bowl champion is a rough welcome to the league for sure.
...for one quarter. ;)
Uh huh. Haaaaaad to go into specifics!!

I just had to sit back and watch the stink fest. Good thing I enjoy myself even while losing lol It's mandatory for all Browns owners :D

Nope, i'm forcing all my qb's to throw left handed for the duration of the preseason so i can get use to it
