Madden 13 Official CAG League - On Hiatus. See you in August for Madden 25!

Passing is much improved. I was no longer worried about throwing a pick six on a simple curl route.

Linebackers and Dbs didn't make any ridiculous no-look plays in any of the three games I played.

The presentation is awesome, though Jim Nantz sounds really robotic at times. Still, I'm glad Collinsworth is gone.

Shooting the gap with the linebackers is gone. Linemen almost always pick you up.

The physics really show up when running the ball. Mastering right stick usage during runs is necessary now.

Don't know if it's just my time off, but defensively players seemed to move a little slower when usering.

CPU AI is still stupid at times. A few runs to the outside and the defense would give up on a play if I didn't take over with that player.

Kicking is back to the right stick.

I think most of that is correct, but did a lot of the players look "blackout dark" when they were 10 yards or more of the LOS?

Doom, how did you feel about pump fakes? To me they feel slow...like there's button lag coming off of them or something. It just feels off to me for something that shouldn't take any extra thinking (ie. QB knows he's going to fake a throw to the right side to open up the middle). I also had quite a few dropped passes to wide open receivers on All-Madden.

You mean were they lost during a play?

You are definitely right about pump fakes. It's not just pump fakes where I felt a slight delay either. Taking over with the FS it seemed half a second slower to me which can make a big difference. Same can be said for linebackers.

Maybe they're trying to stop people from ballhawking with their linebackers and free safeties. I'll have to look into what others are saying.

I know game speed can be adjusted, but if that's the default setting for online play, it will be something we all have to get used to.

I just looked online and I saw Randy Moss is a 84 ovr , 95 speed , 99 Spectacular Catch ....

I can't wait to take the top off the Defense !!!

Wow. That's giving a lot of credit to a guy as far removed from a productive year as he is.

It is modest ratings for what should be a future Hall Of Famer !!!, I wonder if he will retire after one season though lol or even worse follow his real life nature and want to play for another team smh

I obviously agree he should be a Hall of Famer, but the rating should reflect what he brings to the field this season. Superstars in the twilight of their careers are usually a bit better in Madden than they should be (LT and Favre come to mind), which is fine, but it just surprises me to see Moss so high after a year away from the game, at least in the initial rosters.

Fair enough , but his Ratings are down from where they last were when he was a patriot and I think by about week 6 his ratings will be up higher without injury and no locker room issues.
If I've learned anything following the career of Randy Moss it's this: Assume nothing. ;)
If this was facebook I would Like this status :applause:, Hopefully he doesnt let me down this season lol
Hope you like Moss this season, he's coming to Houston in year 2.
Rumor has it he might replace DBowe.

99 spectacular catch is nuts.

Some league business:

One project I want to accomplish before we start is more thoroughly detailing all of the league rules. Obviously there are always going to be some ad hoc things we need to add based on how the game plays (like banning QB sneaks last year), but I'd like to have a firm foundation in place so everyone is clear before the league starts.

Assuming I'm starting with a mostly blank piece of paper on which I've only written "1. Don't be a dick.", what do you guys think are the important things you would like thoroughly spelled out in the league rules?

Thanks in advance for any input!

My bold(ish) predictions...

1. New England
2. Baltimore
3. San Diego
4. Tennessee
5. Denver
6. NY Jets

1. San Francisco
2. New Orleans
3. Green Bay
4. Philadelphia
5. Detroit
6. Chicago

NFC Title Game - New Orleans over Philadelphia
AFC Title Game - Baltimore over New England
Superbowl - Brees over Goodell

Chicago will probably fall flat on their pre-season hype and the NY Giants will likely sneak in as usual but I like the Eagles getting out of the East for some reason. I also like SF and NO at the 1 and 2. SF gets to beat up on the West so seemed like a safe bet.

I don't have any strong feelings toward the order of the AFC, or even who comes out of it. I just don't believe in Houston (sort of silly being one of the best teams last year), but I think Tennessee can beat them out (boldest call here, probably) and between the other divisions Houston can get squeezed from the wildcard picture.
Also, it is really easy to run with the QB this year.
I noticed that too. In addition, the play from Jimmy Kimmel's show is all over this demo. QB backpedaling, throwing across his body to the opposite side of the field for a perfect strike. I've seen the AI do it with every QB so far. Not really loving that.

:wall:

Every year EA does manage to find some way to reward morons who can't figure out how to stay in the pocket.

They fixed that in NCAA, I wonder if the physics engine making it easier for the player/ harder for the Dev team.
:wall:

Yeah...what it's going to amount to is that your defensive playcalling is just going to have to make up for it. If the guy is covered and can make a play on the ball, you should be ok. It's still just disappointing that EA can't figure out what an unrealistic throw is. Or that the difficulty in the throw should be directly related to how accurate it is. As it is, if the QB can run around and backpedal long enough for someone to get open, he can most likely get the ball there.

Also, these dropped passes are getting a bit excessive. Vernon Davis had 3 in the game I just played. I don't specifically remember the first two, but the last one was a wide open route across the middle in OT. It almost feels like a glitch because the commentary starts talking about how the "defense was just too good and there was nobody open". So, it's either the commentary still being horrendous, or something like the "invisible defender" glitch we had last year.
\So, it's either the commentary still being horrendous
It still is, but at least it's new.
I'd say you spell out "don't be a dick" cause there are some new folks in the league.
I agree.

It's pretty easy to run back kicks this year. I've returned 3 on all-pro and 2 on all-madden.

Ginn and Banks.

I really like the demo. Love how you can't really bounce off some defenders laying on the ground and other realistic running features. Some of the gang tackles and pile ups are nice to see as well.

Love that kicking is back to the stick.

Only gripe I really had was that the AI will still take awful angles to catch a guy breaking away. When they could of easily caught him by just taking a cut off angle instead of looking like a 3rd grade soccer player chasing the ball.

Oh and I loved that my first play was an 80 yard bomb TD with RG3 lol

After two quick games on All-Pro this is how I feel -

Speed kind of feels like speed. To me, guys with 'get away from the cops speed' should blow by defenders, but they rarely do it. Part of that I think is perception, 6 yards IRL is a lot farther than 6 yards in Madden.

I really like the organic feel of the physics engine. I only saw a few weird (and often hilarious) collisions. In one replay Matt Flynn was giving Fletcher a hardcore blowjob!

Sydney Rice made a stupid, one handed catch and Mike Williams tipped the ball up, ran 5 or 6 yards and caught it. Both of those plays made me sick, but I suppose they are possible, hopefully they don't happen all the time. The picks I threw were my own fault, for once!

On defense I still don't think the edge rushers in the 3-4 get enough pressure. I agree with Doom that usering seems to be a step or two behind, though that might be a recationary thing.

Graphics/Presentation is pretty nice. I didn't see any 'jaggies' like in NCAA 13 and the framerate barely dropped at all. Once thing I didn't like was lighting. Depending on where the light source is the entire defense looks like black blobs because of the shadowing. Oh, and commentary was not existent until I paused the game in the middle of Q2. That happened to me all the time in M12, looks like that bug is still there.

i noticed that the team ratings on the deoms compared to team ratings u find online are diffferent as well anyone else?

also was looking at the controls looks like they brought the sprint button back to madden good thing to i always hold the trigger anyways lol at of old madden habit.

really enjoy throwing the ball had alot of success with it in madden 12 so im guessing with the way they changed things or atleast im hoping that it will lead to another good year of passing in madden

ya but last year it wasnt automatic off now its on dont know why they alwasy go back and fourth on it every year

Been out of town for work since Sunday. Coming back tomorrow night and ready to try the demo! Then I head out sunday for a month. I am bringing my xbox and hope to hook it up to the internet in the hotel though, so I can get my games in.
I fucking hate kicking with the stick.
The stick doesn't so much bother me as the meter being spastic as all hell.

Anyone catch the new Hard Knocks?

I don't see Philbin lasting as a coach. He seems so disconnected. That Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood mentality won't get it done.

The Chad Johnson release was difficult to watch.
