Marvel vs. Capcom 3 discussion thread
Anyone else think it's bullshit we'll need to wait a month to use the DLC characters we're paying for?
What?! Where'd you hear this that is terrible news!!

By the way; my main team is

Dante ( I f****g love Devil May Cry), Dormammu, and Trish.

But of course I will interchange them all the time, and what I HOPE is my main team I might not be able to use effectively :p

But we'll see.

She-Hulk and MODOK are... odd choices, but I'll still give them a chance.
Anyone else think it's bullshit we'll need to wait a month to use the DLC characters we're paying for?
Well given that the choices probably were:

1) Delay the game by a month (or more) so DLC characters were ready on day one.

2) Give the code with the SE & make them available in a month.

I think Capcom made the right choice in this case....

Frankly, I'd be more upset if the DLC characters were available at launch. This means that Capcom locked content away from the retail package with the intent to sell it as DLC day one (or as an unlock key). I know that some of you may be comfortable with that notion now, but this was one of the huge arguments that opponents of DLC made. That's one of the reasons why people made a huge stink about the alternate costumes in SSFIV, but costumes aren't a huge component of the game. Additional characters are.

Even if it's all an act, I'm far more comfortable with them suggesting that they've been working on Shuma and Jill separately, even after the final build of the game, and it's just now entering the certification process by Microsoft (which we all know can take a month). Like I said earlier, I fully expect them to be at least $5 on release, if not more, so we could be saving by purchasing the SE.

On another note, after looking into it a bit more, Phoenix is a glass cannon. She dishes out damage and has a ton of options, but she gets knocked out in two combos. Think Seth in SSFIV or Red Venom in MvC.

Also, someone uploaded character themes onto Youtube. After listening to them for a while, I love them. :D A good number of them are remixed themes from Capcom games. Ryu's and Dante's are boss. If you're familiar with the versus series, Wolverine's should ring a bell as well... as it's a remixed version of his theme in the original MvC and COTA(?).

I pre ordered the special edition on capcom's store can't wait to play this. =)

I've played street fighter games, and capcom vs Tatsunoku, and marvel vs capcom at my friends and enjoyed it.

I look forward to playing it not sure who I'll play as probably everyone till I figure who I like best.

I'm so glad Amaterasu is on this.

I can safely say that I am beyond excited for this game. As much as I really want to go on and plan my team, I know I will just wait until i can get a feel for the different combos.

I really want to see how an Amaretsu/TB/VJoe would work out...probably as well as my Servbot/TB/Iceman in MvC2 =/

Fairly happy with the roster (crossing fingers for the leak to come through), but where are all the Capcom villains?

Pretty much Wesker right? Not familiar with Trish.
Akuma's been leaked. We also know the remaining 4 characters from the leaked list... I'll spoiler them in case someone wanted to be surprised:

Hsien-Ko (unlockable through gameplay)
Sentinel
Akuma (unlockable through gameplay)
Taskmaster
Just a small edit, it is
Taskmaster & Akuma
that are unlockable, not
Hsien-Ko and Akuma
.

Oops, my bad. Fixed.
so any word on if ken or megaman are planned dlc? im not really expecting ken, but it would round out the shotokans
No. The only confirmed DLC are Jill and Shuma Gorath. I'm sure we'll be seeing new DLC characters down the line.

Akuma looks sick. I'm curious what sort of invincibility his Raging Demon Lvl3 is going to have from that video. Not looking forward to unlocking him & Taskmaster, although it seems like it will only take a couple of arcade play throughs.

They need to hurry up and announce 50-Sent now.
I thought the rumor was 10 DLC characters, all of which were on the disc.
I must say I'm pretty fucking hyped for this game now. I still feel like they could have done a little more with Taskmaster but I'm very excited for Akuma. I got my dive kick back damnit!

I really hope they bundle all of the DLC after it's all released at a cheaper rate (like they did with costumes in SSFIV).
The DLC chars are a little dissapointing. I kind of want the Collector's steel case, but I may just wait out the "Gold" edition.
You know that the Collector's Steel Case comes with two of the DLC characters, right? And no others have been announced yet. I imagine that they'll trickle out DLC characters over the course of the next year, and only once they're all release would they consider releasing a "GOTY" equivalent.

I kind of wish that they would setup a subscription for the dlc like the latest smackdown did. Smackdown 2011 let you pay $10 up front and get a discount on all the dlc as it would come out instead of making you wait til it was all out for the "discount pack"

I'm hoping Frank West/Chuck Greene is an early dlc

Between SSIV and the way Capcom nickle and dimes their fanbase, it just seems like the smarter move. I want the game, the extras seem pretty nice, but I can probably kill a few games from the backlog in between the wait.

Cutting out Megaman seems like an odd choice and the whole practice of locking content is really starting to sour me :/

They're probably not locked content. Since you can't download them for 4 weeks, I imagine that they're still being approved by Microsoft (whereas the actual game is going to go gold relatively soon). I could be wrong, only time will tell. I guess it depends on how hype you are for this game. If you can wait a year, that's the way to do it. I've been waiting 10 years for this game. I would pay a premium to play the game today. And I'm going to be playing it throughout the entire next year (despite my enormous backlog), so the SE is clearly the better deal.

Hahaha, the ten year deal is definitely truth but I figure what's one more right?
Yeah, I would hate to wait another year for a mythical GOTY edition that might not ever come out.
Either way, we'll get a cheap version. Gold or a price drop makes the Xbox points easier to swallow. I'm getting stingy on DLC overall though.

I'm excited, I want the game but between money being tight and the backlog, I'll probably pass for now.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the roster and color variants. I'll miss Sabretooth and Omega Red, but I wasn't expecting them back... then again here comes Shuma right?
Hahaha, the ten year deal is definitely truth but I figure what's one more right?
For me? It's an eternity. I'm not going to wait a single more than than I have to in order to play this. I'm obviously biased in this regard. But the SE IS a fantastic deal for those who care about pretty things.

can anyone tell me if the SE is worth it if all i want is the two DLC characters that it comes with (dont care about steel case or booklets or anything)?
That's the kind of thing that you should decide for yourself.
True, so I guess what i am asking is does anyone really know how much each DLC character would be? I'm getting it for my nephews and want all of the characters, haha. Also, does anyone know if (for them) i can limit the fighting to 1 vs. 1 rather than 3 vs. 3? Theyre good at SF IV and love it, but this seems so much faster.

No one knows what the DLC characters will cost. I personally believe they'll be at least $5 a piece, but that's based on my own understanding of DLC characters/Capcom's DLC strategy.

As for limiting the fighting to 1 v 1... why? Does it matter if your nephews fight with 1 character or 3? I mean, you could always enforce an arbiturary rule like, NO tagging out, NO using assists, NO DHCs... or something, I guess.

I don't think there's really a point to it, though. The team dynamic is a huge component of the game, not just there for funsies. The core mechanics of the game rely on it.
Fair enough, guess we'll just go that way then lol. Hmmmm....to buy SE or to not buy SE, that is the question.
the way i look at the CE is that i'm prepaying for Shuma/Jill, guessing they will wind up being about $5 for the pair...$5 for a behind the scenes dvd, steelbook, comic, and month of marvel's online comic database? killer killer deal.

/made better by getting hte CE for $63 shipped from capcom

I'd be willing to bet they will be $10 dollars for the pair.
i think its kind of ridiculous amazon offers $10 credit for the regular edition but not the special edition.
Amazon has always been like that. They dont offer credit for limited edition

Oh, thanks, i had no idea!

Here's a question...if i get $10 video game credit with the regular edition, would there be anyway to use that money to somehow buy ps3 credit to get the DLC characters? that way I'd essentially be saving $20 over the SE since all i care about are the new characters.

No, you'd be be spending the same amount but getting 10.00 extra in PSN stuff.

60.00 for the game, 10.00 for the PSN credit after Amazon card = 70.00, the same price as the collectors edition.

If the characters are 15.00, you only get 5.00 in extra PSN stuff.

If you don't care about the steel book and comic, it's not bad at all, but you still put out the same amount of cash.

I doubt each individual character will be $15. BlazBlue charged $7 for each character I think. So $15 might be for a pack of 2, or maybe $10 for 2. We'll see.

In preparation for MvC3 I've been playing TvC.

Well since the $10 psn is free, i guess i would only be spending $60 for the extra chars plus game. Thats assuming theyre $10/pair. So in essence i'd only be saving $10 i guess. hm maybe it is worth it for the SE.
