For what it's worth, he switched his display mode to Widescreen in the Console Settings and it made all those games fullscreen. He still hates the game, though. Meh, what're ya gonna do.

Also I found some extremely frustrating combos that people have been using on me (inescapable). He hit me once with a sentinel attack, did rocket punch, did another one once my body bounced off the ground, did his super, launched me into the air, did another one. 75% of my health gone right there on an undodgeable combo.

I hate people who rely on one combo. As soon as I get hit once, I'm f****d.

Same thing with the way he used Dormammu. Launched me back with

Thanks, but I am playing this on my 360. I can't seem to find anyone that plays She-Hulk...looking at the licenses she is usually at the bottom of the list. I wish I didn't care about this achievement :)

You know, I'm thinking of trying some of the Missions in Simple Mode if I can.

The 2 DLC packs are out. They're both unlock keys. The PS3 version had a 20~mb patch and we get like 1.2mb between the TU and 2 packs. Very weird.
 
Ehhh... I was hoping shadow mode would be a bit more harder, can't complain seeing that it was free. I also need to hit the 320 mission mark, I'm at 300 right now.

I don't think you have the option of doing Missions in Simple Mode. Simple Mode also looks like it limits the kinds of combos you can do, so I can't imagine you can complete anything above MIssion 5 for a character.

The patch last week had something to do with the Shadow Mode, so it's likely that the "unlock keys" are unlocking the patch, not anything on the disc. Also 1.2mb seems pretty reasonable size for an A.I. script.

I haven't tried out the Shadow Mode yet, but isn't it just supposed to be A.I. based on Capcom employees right now? I wouldn't really expect anything super remarkable from them, though I could be wrong. :p

Doing Mission Mode last night, I broke my Fightpad. :( My B button (H attack) doesn't work half the time now. I'm only 288 Missions into it so far. Seems much easier than SSFIV's. I just need that one, and to fight a 1st Rank person.

Decisions... Do I buy the new costumes (I really want classic Thor and Iron Patriot) or do I get Captain America and Red Skull for Super Hero Squad... I'm leaning toward SHS because I'll be playing it with my daughter.

edit: Turns out the Captain America code in my used copy of SHS was still valid. :)

So many Sentinels, so many frying pans. o_O;

It's been easier for me to handle them during offline matches. Online though >_>; Maybe it's just me or maybe it's my internet but man D: Can't punish some of them worth a damn.
 
Hey Rig I also need that achievement. I'll send you a friend request so that we can hopefully both get full roster. Also, I am shocked but pleasantly surprised that Shadow Mode is free. Wasn't going to pay for it, tha'ts for sure!

I also need all the other online ones that need special requirements (like Civil War, etc.).

Got my TE and guide in from Amazon today. Dang, I almost never use arcade sticks (outside of in the actual arcades). It's gonna take a month or so I think to readjust. :/

Never could get arcade sticks down. Well, I never put in the time to is a better way to say that. I'm sure they are more accurate, but I like my SFIV FightPad. They say they wear down easily, but so far, so good!

I need some help with that one too and could run it with you. Saw someone else post as well, hopefully we can get together or something. Need a couple of the specific match-up ones too.
 
Yeah, you can't Simple Mode the Missions. At least I got Chris' #4, Iron Man's #4 and Taskmaster's #5 done. I only need to do Spidey's #4 and X-23's #4 and I'll have 5 for each of those characters as well.

I've gotten 30 matches done with every character now, and I also spammed my way to victory against the 3 Shadow Mode AI's. Why'd they spend development time on that crap?
 
Finally picked this up. There was an SE at the local Hastings and I grabbed it. I wasn't wild on this game, but the videos I've been watching make it look like too much fun (even if there was some things I don't get/look broken).

Can't really play until the weekend, but if someone is looking for a total noob to beatdown, let me know. I'll look up the scrub club also.

I feel like a cheapo using Violent Axe with Haggar. Lot of range, allows me to get right into a combo, and I can just keeeep doing it.

By the way, is there any news of a Spectator Mode or Replays or any sort of Netcode patch coming out? Have they responded to the complaints?

Good games last night to Tom, Guardian, and Joe, even though I didn't get to play Joe. Spectator mode needs to be patched now to keep this game viable for fight night with lobbies consisting of more than two people.

I have Joe on my friends list, and I often see him in an Xbox Party in an MvC3 lobby, but I never know if you guys are getting matches going or whatnot so I don't want to interrupt if that's not the case, know what I mean?

I never want to bother anyone either. My Team right now is Deadpool, Skrull, and Iron Man. I like Skrull WAY more than I thought I would, Iron Man is just me not wanting to give up one of my favorite MVC2 characters. , and Deadpool... well I like Deadpool. :) Wolverine is pretty cool as well. I'll sub him sometimes.

I knew Gootecks was going to get frustrated with the game at first. :p He just has to adjust to the flow. Right now, everyone's playing "scrubby" because the game is new and we don't know all the nuances. I think Mike Ross is right, the game will be completely different a few months from now.

I'm hoping that on March 15th Capcom does a whole "Oh, by the way, here's Spectator mode as well. You're welcome."

Shit, I'd even settle for just being able to do a Practice Mode while I wait so I can hone in a bit before my match comes. Anything's better than the card sex.
 
At first, I was very skeptical. Then I actually bought it today and was like....wow. I'm really glad I got this today. I couldn't be more pleased with this as I've played for 15 minutes before I had to eat and was just like "Wow, AWESOME!" I'm not a fighting fan either but man. This is so much damn fun!
 
Sweet temptation...found a Marvel vs Capcom 2 fightstick at the local gamestop for $130. Heavily debating picking it up, even though I know I'll never be good enough to make full use of it.

Just get it, TEs are super nice. If you plan on putting alot of time into fighting games it pays for itself.
 
Did a couple of Player Matches today for shits and gigs, was using Haggar/Akuma/Ammy. Man, it's a cheap team. Violent Axe, Tornado Kick and Ammy's B attack make for some buuuullshit. I'm just glad I'm the one pulling it off. Akuma has a (technically) Tornado Kick infinite, which is funny to use but I hope they fix it veeeery soon.

2 people had Pheonix on their team, luckily I was able to Snap them into play and take them out.

I really need to get a fighting stick at some point soon, it's practically impossible to do the higher end of the Missions without one. Any cheap deals going around for one?

You can get a standard edition stick on the cheap right now, I'm sure. The Tekken 6 bundle was on sale at BestBuy for $30, if you have any locally left. If you want to go TE stick, I don't think any sales are currnetly running.

When I was looking at the Tekken 6 stick on Amazon, a CAG on here showed me the BestBuy deal but I guess they must've been selling like crazy as they weren't available to buy anywhere in my area, not even for Ship To Store. Shortly after that, the page itself disappeared. Depressing.

I guess I just suck at the game with a controller/in general, as I can't get past most Mission 5s for the life of me. I've been wanting to get a stick, I just want a stick that's not too expensive and does the job, know what I mean?

I'd feel like an ass if I was that guy who entered as the 3rd person, adding the annoyance of forcing someone to sit out and watch License Love 3: Fate Of Two Cards for 5 minutes.

Well hey, if we're all doing that kind of stuff then I'll gladly grab that team. I figured that if people have a team where they're doing legitimate strategies and I just start throwing out cheap moves/spamming B with Ammy, you'll all start getting irritated.

Maybe I should just shut up and stop being so cautious.
 
My understanding is that the cheap tactics in style today will probably be superceded by new discoveries as time goes on, if MvC2 is any indication. I was watching one of those long Wednesday night streams the other day (because I find high level gameplay fascinating) and the commentators at some point said just as much, in that early tourney play on MvC2 used characters no one would even bother to bring out these days.

If MvC3 ends up being viable in the long run, I imagine Capcom will be able to issue patches to bring about more balance and/or people will find new tricks. I doubt they will but there you go - they have the possibility if they really want to.

In other words, I wouldn't worry about any tactics you employ.

Hopefully I will get around to playing this today. Very excited.

Yeah, and if they have legit strategies they should be able to beat you anyway.

Dont be afraid to join, I'm always up to kick ass or get my ass kicked so badly that I have to rethink my team lineup/strategy/characters/life and cry in a corner.

Yeah, you really don't have to worry about being "cheap" around most of us. Half the fun of the game is finding ways around gimmicks. That said, there's a way around everything, and move spam will only get you so far.

That's really not going to happen with the people that regularly play. If someone knows what they're doing, they'll probably get pissed at losing to spam, but not at you... at themselves. Don't get caught up in offending someone.
