Damn! The Soldier class is running away with this poll. We must have a lot of shooter fans coming into ME2 new or just those who follow the "shoot first, ask questions later" ideology.

Might just be many people want to go through and try out all the weapons first with the soldier class then play through as another class, that's what I plan on doing.
All my friends in high school only picked Soldiers. I'm the only one that chose Vanguard. After talking to them about the classes in ME2 and hearing they'll stick with Soldiers, I'm not surprised by the poll results.
My very first character on Mass Effect was a soldier. I consider that my 'canon character' so it'll be my first on Mass Effect 2 as well.
Although I admit soldier isn't the flashiest class. When I finished as a soldier and tried an Adept for playthrough two, I remember thinking "Holy crap, this is why people make such a big deal about this game!!"
I still liked it a lot as a soldier, but getting access to Biotics really made me appreciate the game. I already know I'll end up converting one of my characters to a Vanguard after I import them. That Biotic Dash just looks too badass to ignore.

I played the first as Soldier and will do the same with my imported character this go around. I just like shooting everything in sight (FPS is my favorite genre).
I've always made my main characters in RPGs soldier types by focusing on attack and defense strength and making the secondary characters strong in magic and other skills.
Vanguard FTW. How can you possibly say no to Flash like speed + Shotty rape? ;'(
Seems kind of like a one trick pony though.
They added Jacob to the character section and with no video, wtf? This dude needs two videos! This character has absolutely no established personality. In the description it's even the generic thing where is apart of a group that conflicts with his personal beliefs. This dude is either going to be a total bad ass or a total homo.
That Cerberus armor does look pretty gay. Hopefully I'll be able to make it safety cone orange.
Another thing, I really hope they did away with the thing where you have to have electronics/decryption to open stuff. I hated, ABSOLUTELY HATED, having to dictate who was in my party by the fact that I needed someone to be tech.
Wow. The Cerberus Armor is so utterly tacky in that screenshot. I hope poor lighting is just the case and not a design flaw. Yuck.
Agreed.

I just realized you live in Clarksville! OMG! That was my hometown! I just moved from there a few months ago! Now that I'm over that insane shock..
I think Jacob's probably going to suck. He's not going into my squad, most likely.
Another thing, the ME2 Soundtrack is already on the Amazon MP3 Marketplace, some the song titles may contain spoilers but you can hear samples of the songs...or just buy the digital album. My Favorite so far has to be Tali and Mordin's themes
Looks like a 5 yr old designed that. ugh. or a FAIL version of Halo armor. : Puts on flame suit :
No worries as truth be told my initial thoughts were frighteningly similar. I instantly assumed the armor was designed by a misguided 7th grader obsessed with Halo so I'll stand side by side as we're doused in flames if necessary.
I didn't see any spoilers in it, but then I guess if you were on a complete blackout there was some stuff in there you wouldn't have known about. Everything in it was announced awhile ago.

That video is about as borderline as it gets for me. I knew (or could make an assumption) about everything in that video, but there's just some things you don't want to see before you play the game. The 720p version is up on BioWare's site, for those interested.
I saw a link to that trailer but it said spoiler warning so I aint clicking! Sooooo close.
Also, as far as DLC... I don't want more clothes to dress up in. The stuff I would want would be extra missions/side story. Being able to control other charters in a prequel story arcs of your squad members would be fun. Upgrades to abilities or even original ones.
Anything that adds onto the game experience. Beyond how Shep looks and few stat bonuses. I mean I can be a bit of a clothes horse too, but I don't want to pay for it.
Basically I don't want stuff that I could have used during my 1st play through.
One if the reasons I was a soldier in ME1 was because I could not use the Rifle or sniper (At ALL) as a vanguard (or whatever). Is there any kind of training you can do with them in 2? Because I really like the new abilities, but I also love guns.
Though I really shouldn't need training to look down a scope and fire >_>
Oh and ave they changed the annoying walk-away when people are done talking? You know, where thier eyes shift left, then thier heads, like someone is following them or something...that got so annoying.

Ahaha man I sincerely hope they don't use that same recycled animation anymore!
Thanks, Rei! That was a great trailer.. I don't see anything exactly spoileriffic, either. Very normal launch trailer. Seeing it realllllllly makes me want the game, though. I'm probably going to have to go play more ME1 tonight.
Edit: Okay, I just realized that I haven't heard anything about the equipment slots in this game. Do we know anything about it yet? Like whether or not we'll have infinite space or a place to store some of the DLC items when we inevitably find something better? I'd really hate to have to convert some of my dlc to medi gel.

From what I understand, there will be a place on the ship to store ALL of the weapons you've collected throughout the game, so you'll never have to throw a weapon away/omni-gel it. For more info check out IGN's Tour of the Normandy Video. Doesn't mention anything about a limit on carried items during gameplay, however.

Amazon wants $18 for it, ITunes has it for $12 and you get a free digital booklet (CD Cover) as well.
I'm sorry if I missed it, but I don't think this has been posted yet:
The newest Giant Bombcast is a special all-Mass Effect/Bioware episode, interviewing Casey Hudson (project lead for ME 2). It's a very cool listen. ***WARNING***
I'm about halfway through and there hasn't really been any big spoilers, but I don't doubt that they get into some elements about the story and gameplay, so keep away if you're looking to stay completely uninformed.

The inventory was described a while back, in this thread somewhere... I believe at least. Basically when you find a new item you "scan" it and the schematic goes up to your ship where you can have it researched by your scientist. Then when you want it you can spend to have it reproduced. Certain weapons/items are very advanced and only can be created once or a few times perhaps.
When you get something uploaded that a squad member would like, it will automatically equip them with the better gear. Or if you want to you can go in and manage who gets what but you don't have to this time.

Thanks! I read the part about scanning, just somehow missed/forgot about the part of having it reproduced. I hope the DLC will be infinitely reproduced.
I'll like not having to take care of what my squad's wearing, too. I just hope I can find some armor for them that will match my crazy Rainbow Death armor.
I made the mistake of skimming before finding the almost-hidden spoiler warning in the post and got the first few hours of the game ruined for me, so beware.
Spoilers are already popping up about the game thanks to various torrents sites leaking it now, I just got told a spoiler by a guy who doesn't even play ME but decided to read about it anyway =(
Don't click, read, search for, or think about anything Mass Effect 2 related until Tuesday - that's the best advice I can give for not getting spoiled.
Earlier this week, BioWare revealed that Mass Effect 2’s downloadable content will be delivered via the in-game “Cerberus Network.” Access to this network -- and the promised launch-day DLC -- is granted free via a one-time-use code included with each new copy of the game.
You can still access the Cerberus Network if you purchase the game used, but you’ll have to pony up a fair amount for the privilege -- 1200 Microsoft Points ($15) to be precise.
Why is it so expensive? Well, most used-game outlets sell the most recent games for $5-$10 less than the cost of a new game. Now add $15 to the price tag if you want the same experience out of the box as someone who purchased a new copy. Voila! It’s now cheaper for you to buy the game new, which makes BioWare and EA very happy.
I fired up Bitmob’s shiny, new copy of Mass Effect 2 to see what the Cerberus Network currently has to offer. The computer display in the main menu immediately informed me that new content was available (don't read if you don't want to know what they are offering/mild spoilers)
I was able to download the Normandy Crash Site mission, but was unable to download the Blood Dragon Armor and the bounty hunter, Zaeed.
This could be because I had yet to start a new game, or because the game doesn’t come out until next week and the content simply hasn’t been added to the network yet.
Check out the gallery below for a look at the Cerberus Network membership card and screenshots from the network.
That Launch Trailer was ing sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need this game now! Finally beat ME1 on Insanity the other day and started a new Male Engineer character the other day since I've beaten it 3 times as a Female Adept (Normal/Hardcore/Insanity). I started playing Borderlands last night but after seeing that trailer I need to finish ME1 again to really brush up on the storyline. I'm getting it from Amazon with FSS shipping so the wait will be even longer. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Lol I did not think of that when it comes to the DLC card, hope the DLC is totally worth it (it probably will be but just saying). I'm going through the game again being a paragon, 2nd paragon char, but different love interest and running through it on hardcore. Man do not, I repeat do not, go into the MSV Cornucopia. God what a pain in the ass and after dying there multiple times I said I'll get more XP doing other things and said f* that place. IF you want to know about that particular assignment read this, http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/UNC:_Derelict_Freighter
I still have another 10 hours or so to wrap up ME1 completely, my two characters will be:
Male lvl 60 Shepard
Vanguard Nemesis w/ Singularity
100% missions/sidequests - full Paragon choices
No love interest (reserved for Miranda )
Male lvl 60 Shepard
Soldier Commando w/ Electronics
100% missions/sidequests - full Renegade choices
Ashley - love interest (even my Renegade Shepard couldn't cheat on Liara, so I decided to piss off Ashley with Subject Zero)
