Mass Effect 2 Discussion - Fight for the Lost
Yea exactly, who ever wins the Twitter challenges gets the prizes. No point in an auction type of deal. I only have 5,500 points - I'm sure there are 412 people that have more than me...
Yup. And there are some serious Bioware die-hards out there. I figure my chances of getting anything are slim to none. Too bad we can't use some of these points to just purchase stupid stuff. I'd take any freebies they'd throw my way, I just know I'm not going to win any of these auctions.

I'm playing as an engineer this time. I was wondering if you have Tali in your party, can you have two drones out at the same time? I was thinking that could be very useful.

Yes. Actually,
with Legion in the party you can have up to 3 simultaneous drones out. However, the ally drones take much longer to cooldown than yours, so it's not something you'll consistently have going.

Up to 5970 points now. Even with overseas markets excluded, I'm expecting the servers to be hammered. So I'll be lucky to even bid, especially with work.

Seeing the limitations and thinking about the points, I went ahead and bought two posters I had been considering getting anyway. So they won, the bastards.

Still have my fingers crossed to get the ME1 artbook I missed out on. :(

Thanks. I was wondering about that. I might want to try that sometime.

Dumb question for those more versed in the game than I am.

When you complete a mission, is it done, in that you can't go back to it again?

I did the
Normandy crash site mission
and didn't 100% the
pickup of all the dog tags
. Can I not go back to it and pick up the item(s) I missed, if I see the bit at the end with the Illusive Man counting up XP, money, etc?

Typically you cannot return once you complete a mission. I didn't know it was possible to finish that one without collecting all of those, but I wouldn't worry about it too much anyway for that particular mission. As far as I remember you didn't miss any upgrades or anything.

As I was checking through the wikia about trying to figure out if I did miss something or not, there were a couple of items that were worth picking up that might be worth going back and redoing it.

Hmm... surprisingly enough Kasumi VA is really starting to grow on me and I love the espionage feel of the mission. Shame she isn't a LI but then my new Sentinel would have to choose between her and Tali. I hope they plan to flesh both Goto and Zaeed in ME3 as well make a honest effort to balance out genres. My return to ME1 has only reaffirmed what I loved and missed the most from it. Pretty damn impressive that in all my years of exploring the genre only Fallout 3 and Final Fantasy Tactics could come close to knocking it out of my number one spot.

Planescape Torment! Trust the skull!

God damn it, the posters showed up today and my jackass roommate dented the tube bringing it in. And it's got some tears in it. Anyone order from the Bioware site before? How is their Customer Service turnaround time?

I thought it was don't trust the skull? Hmm...

Updated my journal.

Morte is probably the least trustworthy teammate, until you confront him about his time in the lower planes. From then on, he's pretty level with you. I think the only teammate you really take a hit for not trusting is Fall From Grace; she's a little touchy about all that.

Agreed. Was nice to see that he went from a pretty bad xenophobe to a much more understanding person. A nice little touch in the wreckage.

The whole mission was a nice homage back to the beginning of what happened with the Normandy.

An odd aside as I look over the ME2 CE guide, they're using a femShep for all the pictures in the guide. At least all the ones I've seen so far.

Yeah the author of the guide is a female. I really love these hardcover guide.

Just finished ME2 last night at 3AM(!). I've approached the last 2 or 3 BioWare games I've played very similarly--not a lot of hype, I'm not too excited to play it, I take my time in buying it, etc...yet I'm a rabid BioWare fanboy. I didn't even buy ME2 this time around--I borrowed it off of a friend!

But, the game itself--amazing. Loved every minute of it...well, every minute of it I wasn't scanning for minerals. (Note to BioWare: The way to substitute drab boring sidequests is NOT to add a horrible scanning minigame that's necessary for maximum upgrade-age! I'd rather go back to the boring sidequests..) Loved the integration with the first playthrough, brought back a lot of good memories, short-term nostalgia.

I'm torn about picking up the Kasumi DLC Tuesday. If I get back into ME1 and finish my half done renegade playthrough to bring into ME2, then I certainly will. I need more points though! If a 4000 pt card deal crops up, I know where that's going...

Finished up my paragon engineer playthrough today. I did a romance with Tali. I thought it was nice, but short. I would have liked a little more. They didn't even have an after the moment scene like in ME1. From what I've seen of the other romance scenes on you tube, they weren't quite as good as the ME1 ones. They were clothed or faded to black too quickly. I wonder if that sex scene mess on Fox news must of affected them?

One question for you guys. I noticed the Normandy has bathrooms on the crew deck. Does something happen in those, since all the other rooms are used in some scene?

I thought this was kind of funny. It looks like you can have a female shep and tali romance, sort of.

There's a lot to be said for keeping things low-key, comrade.

Mini-updates for all those who (don't) care.

Almost done with FFXIII. I'm right at the end, but the new job and massive storm rolling in slowed me tonight. I was hoping to ride that right into Kasumi. Now I need to buy more points. Hopefully I can start an insanity run with the full crew come this weekend.

The Bioware store got back to me about the damaged poster (I'm looking to frame these):
"We are very sorry that you received damaged product. We will for sure replace that for you. There is no need to return it. We will be sending you return instructions very shortly."

Plus: very cool, quick turnaround response, replacement.
Minus: Ummm, am I returning it or not?

I think Final Fantasy ran like 20 hours too long (I'm at 60 and end-game). I've mostly been thinking about how much I want to play Mass Effect 2 through the end here.

I know, I just thought the quote "Don't trust the skull" was one of the things carved into TNO's skin. Namely on his back, where Morte reads/skims over it for you.

It is indeed one of your many tattoos. It's also written on the walls of the tomb that The Practical Incarnation built (which is usually how you first notice it).

No sign of Kasumi on the Marketplace yet. There are, however, some new ME2 gamerpics:

"Download the Character Picture Pack featuring the sinister Collectors, the mysterious Illusive Man, Legion, an Eclipse Mercenary, and Renegade Commander Shepard."

What do you guys think, another 15 point loyalty cheev for Kasumi, or is Bioware going to throw us a bone for our $7 and give us 50 or 100 points?

is it just me or does anyone else feel like this would have been a 400 point dlc if it came out 2 years ago? (assuming it's about the same amount of content as the other loyalty missions(or even loyalty + recruitment)

5 bucks doesn't get you much on xbl anymore :whistle2:/

It's really hard to say. Some DLC seems like a bargain (Gears of War 2's All Fronts Collection - extra campaign level and tons of MP maps), while other DLC seems like a ripoff (MW2's Stimulus Map Pack).

I'd love for Kasumi's DLC to have been 400 points, but I can't fault EA/Bioware/Microsoft for charging 560 points for it. I'm sure it's the same, super high-quality work we always get from Bioware. Now, in comparison to the price we pay for the retail disc, yes, it's high. But DLC value has never compared to the value you get from a retail disc.

Regardless, I'm just happy Kasumi didn't end up a 800 point DLC.

Gearbox could have easily sold the Secret Armory of General Knoxx for $15 or even $20 and no one would have complained too much, based on the huge amount of content it adds to the game. I would love to see their sales projections at different price points and how many more sales they gained by pricing it at $10. Wish more companies would follow suit. :)

yeah don't get me wrong guys... im not complaining..

just seems that there's a push to get away from any "real" content for 400 points.. that seems reserved for avatar costumes and crap like that lately. heck, when was the last time a good 400 point arcade game came out?

i guess my feeling is just that if i wasn't crazy about ME2, i would probably skip it.. lower prices per content might spur more impulse buys for them

Well, after more playtime that I planned on yesterday, I've:

Tried to pick up Dr. Okeer and ended up with Grunt.
Went to Horizon and dealt with the Collectors for the first time.
Have Miranda's, Jacob's and Zaeed's loyalty missions to do, as they all seemed to unlock after Horizon.

After every "main" mission, it just gets better and better.

A tip if you haven't read it already. In terms of main missions, be sure NOT to start the IFF Mission until you've done everything you want to do in terms of side quests, loyalty quests etc.

Kinda. After the IFF mission, you can still complete any other missions you want to (one mission can only be completed after the IFF). However, if you do too many (not sure on the number), there are repercussions.

Gah, I lent my friend my copy of ME 2 two weeks ago and he still hasn't beaten it. Looks like I'll be late to the Kasumi party.
