Mass Effect 2 Discussion - Fight for the Lost
My order says it won't be shipped until February 1st.

I ordered with prime and no shipping soon yet either.
Yeah, this isn't good. Considering I went with FSSS, as I was definitely willing to wait a couple of extra days (I usually pre-orders on Wednesday or Thursday), but for some reason, I got a bad feeling that there is gonna end up being some kind of supply issue here.
I am in no way shape or form against this personally. On my second play through of ME1 it astounded me how much garbage was thrown my way, I constantly had to convert stuff to omni-gel or sell it otherwise I hit that inventory limit on every mission.
HAHA! Definitely. What a shitty inventory system for a great game.

I agree about the new system, I hated juggling items between characters (especially so many) and managing so much crap. But I still think it's gonna upset some old school RPGers.

I recall reading that there is a way to speed the process up with a button hold or something, are you doing this? I just find it hard to believe that this planet scanning is worse than getting on a planet and driving the Mako around trying to climb mountains to get to some "debris".
Yes but the debris was far more optional. ALL upgrades have to use some sort of minerals, and the primary way to get it is via scanning. So unless you want to go through the game w/o upgrading much.....

You can "speed it up" there's a mineral scan upgrade, but it's still deathly slow to scan an entire planet, and amazingly it's more tedious than driving the mako as I mentioned before. At least the scenery moved a bit in the mako, you're literaly just moving a cursor on a giant marble for extended periods of time... really gets fustrating.

You can get the Pre-order (and Collector's Edition!!) bonuses from those links. They worked about an hour ago anyway.

It's a reference/homage to Star Control 2, an old PC game where you sort of do the same thing. In fact, the first game makes the same reference as well.

Is it just me or is it driving anybody else crazy that this game is not in 1080p rather 720p??? Why is it a game of this magnitude wouldn't be in the highest definition possible??

It's not driving me crazy, but I would imagine it's to keep file sizes down. I only have a 720p HDTV so it works for me. :)

just worked to queue them up, will download when i get off work thanks!

i pre-ordered from a store that doesn't have any incentives past the "we go out of our way to bend over backwards for our customers" so this is kinda awesome

It's my understanding that only two 360 games have ever run at 1080p, and they didn't look that good anyway. The system just can't handle running the Unreal3 engine at that resolution.
Anyone confirm/deny requiring a code to truly unlock these in-game?
I don't think they'd do that, at least I'm hoping they didn't. I reallllllly want the Dragon Armor.

funny you mention that, It slightly reminded me of star control 2, except the star control 2 mineral gathering was actually fun and not tedious ;). Gathering in SC2 also had combat elements and you could fully gather a planet in a couple of minutes and you knew where the spots to collect were.

In ME2 you're just manually spinning a ball while moving a cursor to make it go faster and covering the entire surface of the globe.... not fun.

And if that guy above wants 1080p, get the pc version =p

Just to update this, my order just switched to shipping soon.

^Really? This makes me feel lame but, I feel a tinge of nervousness due to my CE pre-order still not switching to "Shipping Soon" :whistle2:? (and that's with release day shipping through Amazon Prime).

Yeah, I think it would have been better if they just went with a 2D map of the surface rather than a spinning globe... but oh well, I guess people would complain that it looked stupid or something.

The more I read about this game the more I wish I was a Vanguard in ME1 :( I don't think I have the patience to go back and start a new game...maybe in a year or during a gaming dry spell lol

You can change the class and appearance of any of your ME1 profiles in the sequel right off the bat so there's no need to start a new game. That's what I plan to do for one of mine completing a second run in a different class instead of starting a new game in ME1.

Sorry if this has already been asked before but I'm trying to avoid reading all posts from the last few days in this thread to avoid spoilers:

Is anyone else still seeing Not Yet Shipped on their Amazon order status for the CE? I'm starting to freak out I won't get my copy tomorrow and I've never preordered on Amazon Prime so I have no frame of reference XP

Thanks in advance.

Me, too. I posted about it, and a couple of other people also said their copy was not yet into the shipping process, either. I went with FSSS, because I still generally get pre-orders by Wednesday or Thursday, but I think it's becoming clear that I probably won't be seeing it this week. I just hope they ship one out at all.

Just got off the phone with customer service and they gave me a 90% chance it'll be shipped today and delivered tomorrow. When I asked if I would be reimbursed in any way if they miss the delivery date, the CSR told me "of course".

Anyone have any experience with Amazon actually compensating you for missing a release-date delivery? I'd like to have something to tell them tomorrow when they inevitably ship late. Normally I wouldn't care, but tomorrow is my only day to play this week.

(To twist the knife, I just checked and my fuck-ing player's guide will definitely be in tomorrow. I love irony.)
How does the blood dragon armor DLC from Amazon work? I pre ordered Dragon Age for the PS3.
i think you only get it from the pc or xbox360 version

Also going to my midnight launch. I get off work at 11:30PM. I should be pulling up right when the doors open.

A friend of mine was able to get a copy last night. He had only good things to say about it.

anyone else get the downloads with Microsoft marketplace mistake. they fixed it now but for several hours the armors and guns were free on the marketplace.

Yes I did and i think they're going to work, if you needed a code to activate them in the game then why in the heck would M$ pull them from their site?

Will the Gamestop preorder bonus be included in the case or will it be something the employee needs to give to you?

Will I be able to play multiple save files off my old ME1 file? ie play ME2 as a soldier continuing my ME1 game, and then later after finishing it replay from the import as a vanguard?

Or are the old save files a one time use thing?
The employee will give it to you.
Hopefully they don't run out and the guy actually knows what I'm talking about.

You know if you guys are looking to do midnight release and you don't have the game preordered then you should go to walmart instead of gamestop. Walmart will have little to no line. Just ask the person in the electronics area for it. Easy-peasy!!!

But then you have to go inside a Walmart...
But then you have to go inside a Walmart...
I'm assuming everyone has "super centers".

And while it can be easy and the wait slim to none, there is a chance that the employees are fucking clueless, so it's a bit of a gamble.

However, the time I went to get Resident Evil 5 I had to wait for them to go around looking for it, and they didn't end up finding it. So I had to drive to another walmart to get it.

9/10 it'll beat the wait at a gamestop though.
Does Mass Effect 2 have local coop?
no it does not. single player only.

I got my shipping confirmation from amazon. Do you guys think if I go to gamestop tomorrow they will give me the armor if they have extras?

After 48 hours preorders are forfeit, so try then. Though they'll most likely be held for people that buy the game there.

Still no "Shipping Soon" or "Shipped" from Amazon yet. Strongly considering renting the game tomorrow and sending Amazon the bill for making me wait.
