I have a simple solution to all of your romance problems:
Tali'Zorah. vas. Neema/nar. ing. Rayya.
I'm sure he's hit all the possible romance permutations in his numerous ME2 playthroughs.
All of the ones available for maleShep, at least, since femSheps don't count \\
I'll have them all set up for ME3 by the time I'm done - save for a "faithful to Ashley" playthrough, because I'm definitely off-ing her the first chance I get.
It better. I'm looking forward to the scorched-earth confrontation between Ash and Jack over my male Shepard as least as much as, you know, finding out what happens to the galaxy or whatever.
I'm sure that should be quite the scorched-earth scenario indeed.
I half-expect any romance but Liara to be almost half-ignored in ME3. I mean look at it Ash/Kaiden could be dead. Anyone from ME2 could be dead. The only character they could really give a 100% big story relating to would be Liara she is the only sure survivor. (though I assume Miranda is as well since only times I've ever seen her die, Shepard also ate it)
There's plenty of plotlines they could do with romance options from ME2 that would move into ME3:
* Jack - now that she seems to be happy again, she'll hopefully find less reason to kill/blow things up
* Miranda - since she's found someone her equal, maybe it's time to look at having a child (see LoTSB dossier about her for more info about that)
* Tali - she finally has a home with Shepard after leaving the Migrant Fleet
* Thane - now that he's found love with Shepard, maybe it'll give him more drive to find a cure for his illness
* Garrus - he's finally found some happiness in his life and it might change him into more of a complete person than driven by duty only
* Jacob - now that he's with Shepard, he might be more than just his duty and his uniform
Liara is the only character guaranteed to be carried through from ME1 to ME2 and into ME3, yes, though only one of them between Ashley and Kaiden is dead in ME1.
I romanced Liara in ME1. ME2 I started with Miranda, had the casual encounter with Jack, switched to Tali, had the dance scene with Kelly in the cabin etc. And then reconciled with Liara in the DLC. My Shepherd is a male slut.
Yes, your Shepard is a manwhore indeed.

And yes, we know femSheps don't count, and you wouldn't do the "faithful to Ashley" playthough. Covered that already.
I did go the Tali route with my Sheploo, so we're on that same page, even if I did talk with Liara about old times.

Oh, and I wouldn't call it "coming back", as I've been here for quite a while. (/slight LL Cool J reference)

let Maleon live and destroyed the data

let Mordin kill Maelon and kept the data

You like a bald flat-chested tattooed chick, your tastes are already in question.
the Alien movies after 2, though.
Nah, I'm a fan of all four. Resurrection is way underrated! Winona Ryder, Ron Perlman, and Brad Dourif up in this, written by Joss Whedon, semi-evil Ripley clone with super strength and Sigourney Weaver frankly looking super hot for a 48 year old. What's not to like?
the Alien movies after 2, though.
Which voids bald Ripley and any comparison to Jack since that is about all they have in common. Personality wise Jack is more like Vasquez if Vasquez had more testosterone.
I did like Winona Ryder in the 4th one though....she got some badonkadonk as she's gotten older.
The fact that there isn't any of this in the last movie?
All irrelevant. Jack isn't a reference to Ripley from Alien Whatever, and she isn't Vasquez from Aliens.
Jack is a reference to Jack from Pitch Black, and Jesus Tittying Christ is that internal rhyming ever obnoxious but you I'm not changing it so here's a picture of movie-Jack:
I ing loved that movie. Tense, claustrophobic, and tight. Unfortunately, while her appearance is Pitch Black, her personality and backstory are taken from Pitch Black's sequel, Chronicles of Riddick (where, for completeness' sake, she looked like this:
), which sucked more dicks than I knew could fit in a bag. Bloated, pointless, mullet-ridden piece of shit, that movie.
So, uh, yeah, that puts me in the Tali camp by default.
EDIT: Or the Garrus camp, if I happen to be playing as a better voice actor.

So, uh, yeah, that puts me in the Tali camp by default.
I can easily differentiate the two characters, as there's really only...what...2 similarities between the two? Both have (at some point) gone by the name "Jack" and both get ousted from prison by the lead character of their respective stories. Kyra (CoR) and Jack (ME2)'s characters are miles apart and they both evolve quite differently.
Not to defend either character, really, but I just think it's a little too much to say they based Subject Zero Jack off of Chronicles of Riddick Jack/Kyra. Either way, she's still the last real (aka imaginable, not Ashley) LI option I pick simply because I'm not into the whole hard-ass thing (though I do love her "ending") and I'm definitely not the type of guy at a party who goes to the dip bowl with my chip knowing that hundreds of people have probably already used that very same bowl to their convenience...ifyouknowwhatI'msayinnn.
EDIT: Or the Garrus camp, if I happen to be playing as a better voice actor.
But you can't romance Garrus if you play the game as the character who has the better voice actor...
You don't have to go to either of those lame camps. The best camp of all is still there
Miranda's character doesn't even come close to being in the same league as Tali vas BestFemaleCharacterInTheGame. The only real reason why Miranda is as popular with the male audience is simply because Yvonne Strahovski is the face/voice of Miranda. Anytime you compare that kind of fictional (Tali) to real (Yvonne), real's gonna win. So, as far as LI's go, Tali is still #1
Oh, and this is how Miranda supporters sway public opinion:
(technically NSFW, unless your boss also prefers Miranda to Tali)
At least Casey Hudson will be an executive producer. I know some people will have a negative knee-jerk reaction, but I'm all for more Mass Effect in various media.

I've never thought of Resurrection as a good movie, but I still love the hell out of it for the reasons you listed. It's definitely a fun movie to watch, in my opinion.
No the character, Jack, isn't based off one character from a movie as many developers are inspired by other mediums such as movies. I know, I went to school for that, games draw their ideas from books, artwork, movies, and other forms of artistic expression. Even though Miranda looks good I found her more attractive with the transition she went through throughout the game. She felt more like a human being and less like a trained fembot. ^^

For 's...
Yes. There is, generally speaking, >1 inspiration from a character.
But I will stand by "Jack is based on the character of the same name from Pitch Black/some other piece of shit movie that I regret watching". Granted, Bioware's writers are a good deal more competent than whoever the was responsible for the movie on the right hand side of the above slash, and she rose above. And hey, here's another Bold Statement: Quarians are Battlestar Galactica. Bam!
Not to say that BSG was necessarily an original story, but that's a whole 'nother matter.
Bastilla Shan? She was based on Samus AranFall-From-GraceJane Shephard Jennifer Hale, at least as far as appearance goes. Bam! Did they have other considerations to take into account when creating her appearance? Sure, but it. She was based on Jennifer Hale.
And...
Actually, that's all I got.
Wait, no, got one: the Tevinter Imperium in Dragon Age is actually Byzantium. And the Free Marches are... Italy, or something? Some of those countries get hazy. Do those even count?
And on Miranda: I may not have been a huge fan of Jack, but Miranda lost my respect during their confrontation after you completed both their loyalty missions. Her backstory out-tragics yours, Miranda. Shut up, man.
Meh I let my OXM and PC Gamer magazine subscriptions run out. It's pretty pointless considering how many websites will post what's in the magazine if it's an attention worthy article if not getting all my gaming news from online sources anyways. I predict the same will happen with this.
Pleasedo not mention anything from that GameInformer article or any future publication that specifically relates to Mass Effect 3 in this thread, nor post scans of any pictures included in any articles, nor link to websites or any other sort of media showcasing information about the game. There's an Official Mass Effect 3 thread here on CAG for that information to go in, created specifically for anticipation/hype build-up to the game. Just remember that posting ME3 information not only spoils it for us who have beaten ME2 and who are looking to avoid any/all information, but also for any would-be poster who has not beaten ME2 yet - and that's even more unfair to them.
If you do start to wander into ME3 territory, I will most certainly call you out for it (as nicely as possible - I only have the best intentions of keeping this thread strictly ME2 related) [Paragon +10]. If you continuously do it and not heed any warnings I - and possibly others - may give you, then I will go ape-shit and make it my priority to get moderators involved [Renegade +10].
---------------------
I know that as soon as the real information starts to hit, that ME3 is going to be all anyone wants to talk about - but please keep the discussion in the proper place. If this thread increasingly dies off overtime and devolves into me helping newer people out with in-game strategies and/or understanding various concepts of the game, then so be it. I'd much prefer that than just having to completely leave every Mass Effect thread on CAG and hide under a rock for the rest of the year
As more information rolls in, I'll repeat this message a few more times (especially when we hit a new page) to make sure everyone knows what's up. I appreciate everyone who makes these threads as awesome as they have been, and I'm sure we can keep it going for another year
In the middle of my first play through, and something I was wondering. The other day, I did Grunt's loyalty mission, and is it just me, or is defeating a thresher maw easier in ME2 compared to ME1?

I'm currently working on my "perfect"/100% completion male Engineer playthrough (I think I'll even finish the Firewalker missions this time!). I know I've got nothing on you X, but this is probably my 5th or 6th full playthrough and it's amazing to me how this game just absolutely refuses to get old.

That, or the Cain, which ends up being a one-hit kill. The Blackstorm takes a couple of shots versus the one-shot kill with the Cain. Higher-powered rifles such as the Mattock, the Incisor and the like also work when you don't have much/any heavy weapon ammo.
The environment makes it much easier with the Thresher Maw in Grunt's loyalty mission as well.

My definition = All missions completed, all upgrades collected (though I'm sure that won't matter for ME3), all squadmates alive and loyal, and my character/decisions all set up the way I want them for ME3, (mostly Paragon but with a pro-human/anti-alien streak, romance Jack,

Ha! I know exactly what you are talking about. The hairs stand up on the back of your neck because you KNOW your ass is exposed. Funny stuff.
Played through Arrival tonight on my main character. I really liked it, and definitely got me even more pumped for ME3. Still need to go through this (and Shadow Broker) with my 2nd character. Will have to get the covert achievement as I went guns blazing this time without checking the achievement list until it was too late.
I said many pages back I'd check my upgrades when I played again as I was pretty sure I'd missed some, and had at least one in a store I couldn't afford despite doing all the DLC etc.
In the upgrade menu I'm still at 4/5 on Shotgun and Sub Machine Gun damage. And there's stll a "Damage Protection" upgrade for 75,000 credits for sale in Saronis Applications on the Citadel that I can't afford (have a little over 36K credits after doing arrival). I think that's the only thing still left for sell in any stores based on my recollection of having checked around before--I'm not going to waste time checking stores in other systems though since I have no way to get more cash anyway.

I know I mean you save a lot on Insanity with the original ME but I probably saved double on planets that freaked me out like this lol.
Yeah I missed the covert achievement as well and I kinda kick myself because I was all stealth in the beginning but thought I came across a part I'd be seen so I started shooting.
