Mass Effect 3 Discussion Thread

No, you're right, Sendme. I have been having fun with the Cerb Vanguard, Cerb Adept and the Vorcha Soldier. Then, tonight went back to my Turian Sentinel (who I used to adore) and it was just "blah". These Rebellion characters have really brought back a lot of the fun. Well, them and the Reager shotgun.

I unlocked the Cerberus Vanguard and didn't really like them. I guess I was expecting different from the leash attack. The Vorcha really does seem to be the only one that I have unlocked out of the new characters from both sets to make me want to play the game. However from both DLC packs I have only unlocked the Geth Infiltrator, Batarian Sentinel, Male Quarian Engineer, Vorcha Soldier and the Cerberus Vanguard.

I also still have yet to find a weapon to replace the M-8 Avenger X. Even though it seems like they did something to the gun and it no longer has the power I think it once had I can not find a gun I like. It could be due to the fact that most are still around level 3 at best.

have you tried the Geth Pulse rifle? it's essentially a fraction less damage but the RoF should more than make up for that. it also weighs the same it seems. 200% at X

I think it's not the Avenger lost punch, it's they just gave all the enemies more shields/health and recharge.

yeah, same thing w/the starting classes...while efficient as they are they just seem less action packed.
I had no rebellion characters, played, and received a pack so you should look into that.
yeah still nothing.

I was the same way with the Avenger X, then I got the Geth SMG. Best, most versatile weapon in the game, IMO + it has 0 weight with the right gear. Now, I'm using that + the Reager shotgun as standard gear. Weight to power regen is usually halved, but it provides the perfectly rounded capabilities to handle any situation even without the use of powers. Those become icing on the cake for explosions and what not.

I will give it a try next time I'm on. The Geth Pulse Rifle is only at one right now so still has some weight. Had no idea the gear stayed with you and was able to be upgraded. I thought it was just like the consumables and only worked for the one game.
Keep in mind that our troops don't have biotic or tech powers. Bioware needs to balance the weapos vs. powers. Not an easy job. IMO they're doing a decent job.

That said, I've been trying to get the Harrier for ever, and after probably 50 PSP still no luck. I've decided to screw it and use Mattock X with a rapid fire controller. I just ordered this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Controller-Programmable-Quickfire-PlayStation-3/dp/B00742CIN4/
So I got the controller and it works fine. I just wanted to share that I got trolled by this blasted game.

So as I said earlier, I got this controller because of my inability to get the Harrier. Guess what I got in the first PSP I bought after I got the controller... I'll give you a hint.. It starts with "Cereberus Harrier"... As soon as the gun becomes useless for me I get it. It's like some higher power's trolling me.
cant you just return the controller now?
I'd have to pay return shipping (around $5). Besides, the controller is nice and works perfectly. With it my Mattock X is better than the Harrier. I don't think it's wrong of me to use it because EA allows us to buy packs with real money (so someone could just purchase Harrier X - either way get an advantage against the AI that wasn't earned).

Yea, they could "buy" the Harrier with $30-$3000. In any case, what you "believe" to be wrong and what you "think" is wrong, are not necessarily mutually exclusive. It just depends on how Microsoft/EA deems something to be "wrong".

Also, I'm not sure about this, but I think it's Microsoft, not EA, that doesn't like turbo/rapid-fire controllers.

Just be careful (thought I'm not sure how you'd be careful, outside of not using it).

Speaking of which, unlocked the new Krysae Sniper Rifle and was enjoying that for a while than unlocked the Cerberus Harrier! So much fun!

im convinced they arent giving me the commendation pack, still no dice.

i did get a vet pack because i wanted to see if they'd up my phaeston, and I lucked out and got my shield equipment booster to II now...which just really means, you can put points into other abilities and not just put more points it fitness.
Forget about using a rapid-fire controller with ME3. It makes it impossible to fire COBRA missiles.
...but it does help when you're bleeding out.

I read something about people hitting up EA's help line and getting the packs they'd been robbed of. Don't know where exactly to go for that, but it's something if you choose to pursue it. Bummer it happened in the first place though, bud.

It's the only other option you have aside from waiting for nothing to happen.

i fired off an email, thanks for the link. the only downside is, it is possible the packs expired and they wouldn't even be able to award someone one due to the window of opp. I've seen it in other threads. oh well, if i get it...great if not, ill know where to click asap next time if it should happen.

EA CS basically sent me an automated apology email, saying they're sympathize and regret to inform me the commendation packs are no longer available...ever, ever...ever.

while that's not really an explaination as to why I didn't receive one...whateva.

I'm not sure why you went the e-mail route. I've gone through chat and gotten every pack they failed to give me without fail. I'd try again that way before giving up completely.

i'll give it a go, i can get away with a lot at work but a chat window would be pushing it.

At this time, it's pointless to try again because it has already been too long.

From here on out, the best bet is to try Live Chat a day or two after the Packs have been handed out. Just be sure to have your EA login/pass ready to go.

I noticed that tweet from Gamble and wondered. The Bioware guys have been making coy comments via twitter in the past few weeks. HOWEVER, the tweets in the thread that Spy linked to do not really say it's the EC specifically. Still, how can it not be, KWIM?

I don't remember specifically, but I'm pretty sure they said that all other single player DLC plans were put on hold until after the Extended Cut was released. They say a lot of things though, so who really knows. :p

Maybe my expectations of the EC are out of whack. I thought it was, basically, some cut scenes. But if the is extensive QA going on, it kinda makes me think there is playable parts to it. Was there playable sectIons all along?

Well we know they scrapped the boss fight at the end due to time concerns, among other things like it didn't fit or "it felt too "vidego gamey", so I wouldn't be surprised that they put in some kind of gameplay change in the end with the time and that they're Bioware. Yeah I was just expecting an epilogue and more "deleted scenes" stuff.

I would be surprised if there's anything past a dialogue choice or two. Honestly I am expecting non-interactive cutscenes only. But hopefully there's a ton of branching and variation based on past choices.

I picked up Infiltrator-- just got an Android phone last week, so good timing on this sale. I only played a couple minutes but it seems pretty cool.

Yeah, if they're actually going by what they said, then all planned DLC was pushed for the EC, there will be zero gameplay in the EC, and the potential boss fight was deemed to video gamey.

Looking forward to seeing what they have planned.

And thanks for the heads up on Infiltrator, Weltall (great game, btw.) I'll pick that up for a buck.

In fairness on the whole "too video gamey" thing, what they were specifically talking about was
the concept of the Illusive Man morphing into a giant monster and that being the final boss fight.
And I completely agree with that. The non-physical confrontation you get instead is an awesome sequence and a much better representation of what that character is all about than a shootout with a monster would have been.

Besides, ME2 had a conventional final boss fight and BioWare got nothing but complaints about it.
Oh yeah, I'm with you too. Typical ending complaints aside, I really dug the final confrontation in 3.
As will I, once they release EC and I get to play the "complete" product. ;)

Also picked up ME: Infiltrator. Have to wait to get home to DL all of it, being so big at 450MB.

I'm not hugely looking forward to replaying all of
Cronos Station, Priority: Earth, and Citadel Finale
just to get to the new stuff. I think that's the last hard save I made on my main character. Maybe I'll put it on "Story" difficulty.

As I just finished
Citadel 2 with the Cerberus attack, and going through the side/N7 missions before heading off to the Perseus Veil
and just getting in playtime Fri/Sat late evenings and random 1/2-1hr spots here and there, EC might be out by the time I make it up to the end missions.
Thankfully I've got saves right at the end for both of my playthroughs. My first one has all of the choices that I actually want reflected.
Since the game pretty much fast tracks you into the end after you only have
Cronos Station
as your next mission option, seemed like the right time to stop PT #1 and move to PT #2.

Which is pretty funny at the moment, as I have Traynor, Allers and Kaiden all offering themselves up to my femShep. Since I'm trying to keep on the "Liara as a LI from ME1 to ME3" path I started with this femShep, I went down the "WTF happens with Traynor in the shower" sequence, reloaded previous save, then dealt with Allers "following me home". Allers' info isn't in the guide anywhere, so I can only assume she was added after the guide publisher had access to the game, though from the ME Wiki, she's a "freebie" non-LI like Kelly Chambers was in ME2.

Poor Kaiden, turning him down felt like killing his dog.

Hahahahaha, I did exactly the same thing on my second playthrough, but Liara found out about my Allers fling. I guess I should have expected that though, given her pastime. At that point in the game, I didn't have Kaiden or Ash on my ship. I'd never been happier.

I had wondered about the "shower scene" since I had femShep this time around and knew Traynor had a cootie problem with boys, so I'm curious to see how it went down if I kept going along with it. I guess that's what YouTube is for. The Wiki seems to spell it out well enough.

Feron made me insecure! I'm not the bad guy here! I swear!

Ha! I thought I was the only one. That's funny. I cheated on Liara on my 2nd playthrough with Allers. It wasn't even a good scene, I sent her packing right after, then had to deal with sad panda Liara just before the end run.
What, that watered-down Thane wannabe?
