Mass Effect - Gen. Discussion & Info - Pinnacle Station DLC Now Available 400pts

Thought I would atleast get one of the ally achievements but I didn't. I used Liara and Tali most of the time playing when I had them both. Also I was hoping since I didn't have the 75% of the Paragon points I thought I could get them when I started my second game. After starting it I see that you start over. Atleast you start off at the same level and xp. I will be playing this more and may end up buying the guide as much as I don't want to. I don't like having to get up to go to the computer when playing also I'm not always able to use it when playing because someone else is on it.

This is a great game that I'm glad I played and only had a few things that I didn't like about it.

I was doing them anyway but couldn't find have the stuff you had to search for and didn't want to keep looking. For me it would have had to be get up look at the computer to find where I need to go and then go back to the tv find that spot mark it and drive there. Get back up go to the PC look up the next spot or two go there and keep doing that. I'm just going to check out the guide if I can still find one and use it. I can sit it in front of me. I know it is dumb to buy one when I can just look it up online. Hell I could even print it out but that is a lot of ink and paper. Also I did that for a game that didn't have a guide out in the US for it and it was a pain in the ass to read.

second time through this game. I said the hell with trying to get a guide. I will just use the online. I plan on playing through to get all the achievements I can then trying for the 2 harder settings of the game for them. So I was wondering is the gear you get at the end of the DLC the better of that type of gear in the game? I was reading that the human heavey armor was but am unsure about the rest. What about the better guns where do you get them or do they just drop?

If you gain access to the Spectre armory on the Citadel you'll get the best stuff by far. I kept on getting junk in comparison with my last playthrough lol.
quick question, do ALL of the PH versions come with 2-discs?

Probably a moot point, as I'm trying to find the cooler looking PH cover anyhow.
Yes, even the new, better looking, covers still include the disc. I actually held one at my local Wal-Mart. Would have bought it to but money's pretty tight right now due to vehicle problems. :( I will buy it and get at least one play through before this fall though. I don't want the hype machine to spoil this potentially awesome game.

Probably going to do a run-through of DMC4 (still have my unopened copy from Best Buy), Then go for my 5th playthrough of this, I don't think I have played a game this many times in my entire life other than the first disk of FFVII because my memory card kept corrupting my data.

I think I'm going to go for all the achievements on easy then get the last 2 for them settings. I think this will be the most I have played one game when it comes to single player. Other then this game I think Halo 3 I have played the most and thats only if you cout the co-op. I might end up beating this for the second time today them I'm playing it to get the ones for playing most of the game and trying to get it for each character.

I have bought Mass Effect twice now... I just can't seem to get into it, I get through the intro and to the big city and then I fall asleep forget what i'm doing and never play it again.

Think Mass Effect is worth getting or should I just wait for Mass Effect 2? I heard good things about both.

Mass Effect is a must if you are interested in playing Mass Effect 2. Other than receiving a basic idea of what's going on in the game's universe, the choices you make in the first game carry over into the second game.

played mass effect last night for the first time. i cant really say anything but i like how i can modify my guys face.. BUT i spent several times trying to perfect his look and kept making something wrong (like eyes to far apart) and its not a problem but i wish i could skip cutscenes. if there's a way I'd like to know

lol.

If this is a serious post, trade the game away, it's way over your head.
The Pinnacle Station DLC is up now for 400 MS Points!
Is it like Bring Down The Sky where you have to start a new game if you beat the main game already?

It's not on the UK marketplace yet, just reading on my US account.

It just sounds like 13 challenges similar maybe to the latest Fable II DLC when you fight wave after wave of enemies.

Does anyone out there NOT care for this game?

I don't think it's broken or horrible, but I'm just not getting into it, and I LOVED KOTOR.
I just fought the Geth attacking the colony with the big plant that takes over people's minds, and I saved the blue skinned alien that joins my party on the previous planet,
so it's not like I haven't been playing a while.
I really need to get a copy of the game..prefs the platinum for cheap so I can play both DLC.
Check your local Target as it may be on clearance.

Arggghh I told myself I'd never buy avatar clothing but they know my weakness. It'll be tough resisting a couple of those shirts. It would be nice if they were unlockable via the DLC, at least.

I heard the new DLC completely sucks. To bad.

And about liking/not liking ME. I'm not that big of a fan of RPGS (I sort of liked KOTOR (never finished it)) and I absolutely loved Mass Effect. I think it is the best Sci Fi experience in any medium ever. Did I say that right?

The Platinum Hits version is $20 and has the first DLC included on the bonus disc. Just buy it already! :)

I'm going to skip on this new DLC i'm on my second playthrough already and i've got loads to do that I missed out on the first time. If anything i'll get the bringing down the sky DLC.

So I have been playing my third play through of Mass Effect when this DLC just released. Can I d/l it then access it in my current game (I already became a spectre)? Or do I have to start a whole new game. Sorry if this has already been answered. Too lazy to check :)

Pretty sure you can go ahead and play it on your current playthrough.

Personally, I'm not going to get it because I hear it's terrible. I still have my own playthrough of Mass Effect to do (so I can get 150 Sniper Kills [my last weapon one], 2 ally achievements and the majority of the game achievement). Also, so I can cheese that one scene out and max my Paragon/Renegade meters for Mass Effect 2.

Honestly, it was kinda ehhh. Not necessarily bad or anything, just... boring.

If you're curious:

On Pinnacle Station, you run through a combat simulator. There's 4 different modes you can play in that (Hunt, Time Trial, Survival, Capture) over about 3 different levels. After you've finished all of those, you get to do a special scenario which is just about surviving, then you're pretty much done. This is strictly combat-focused, no real story involved.

Oh, and you get your own apartment. Nice, but otherwise useless.

DLC opinions:

I had fun with the Pinnacle Station DLC. As someone else already mentioned, it consists of four different combat simulators, each with its own objective.

The positives:
Loads of XP
The choice of a really good Assault Rifle/Pistol/Sniper/Shotgun
Access to an apartment where you can pay 5000 credits and get access to special equipment (Note: you only get one item per 5000 credits; sort of a "roll of the dice" option)
Fairly easy (at least for a class with some combat skill)
150 achievement points (if you're into that)

The negatives:
It is fairly short (I think it took me two - two and a half hours, simply because I had to retry one or two missions a few times)
It can be frustrating if you are using a character who is not combat efficient, or if you don't choose a well-balanced team

Overall, I'm fine paying 400 Microsoft Points for this DLC. Since I played it first with a fairly low level character, the large amount of XP I received - as well as the awesome gun - really put me a little ahead of the game in terms of where I figured I would be so far. Out of a ten rating, I'd give it a six and a half or seven.

Thanks for the review synopsis Xecutioner. I'll probably pick this up. The previous DLC was also pretty short, but it was fun, and this one seems to have enough added benefits with the special weapons and XP that I can probably justify spending $5 on it.

whats the apartment look like?
Basically just a two room building with one room being a medi-gel and grenade station where you can restock your squad, and another room with a computer (where you do the 5000 credit transaction) and living room space. You have a pretty decent view from your apartment of the remote planet you're on, and you even see the Mako parked next to the apartment. It's all just aesthetics, for the most part, but pretty cool nonetheless. It's a shame there's no Asari strippers that await you or no option for your crew to chill at your place :).
