Mass Effect - Gen. Discussion & Info - Pinnacle Station DLC Now Available 400pts
did that two disc edition ever come out? i wanna get it, but if that version was just rumors i might as well pick up sooner.
The double disc with the DLC has been out for a while now. Definitely recommend picking it up asap.

How hard is it to get from level 50 to 60 in just a second playthrough? I would imagine I have to basically satisfy the completionist achievement again for doing everything in the game to get to level 60 without a third playthrough, right?

Yeah it's been out for a few months. You're looking for the platinum hits version. It's $20 and lots of places have it.

It's quite hard to level up in the high levels that need a lot of XP to do so. I finally hit lvl 60 and getting out of the Mako and taking on the targets with your squad up close is a good way to get XP, deadly though. I think there was a side mission that boosted my XP, maybe the moon mission, but don't quote me on that. I also think I'm on my 3rd or 4th playthrough but I'm a bit fuzzy on that havin two profiles and playing other games at the same time lol.

bah, but i really hate that platinum hits cover, do they at least have a 2-disc version with the new platinum hits cover?

Around what level should I be when I go to the planet with the mine on it. I usually run around the base station doing what side quests I can there then head out. So I had only about 4 hours into it and started to go to different planets. I think it was the 3rd planet I went to I want to say in the Sparta galaxy. I got there and went all the way to the end where that thing drops down and jumps all over the place and they drop 2 of them larger things that are like a walking cannon and some other guys that walk around and shoot you. Somthing kills me in one shot only so much is going on on screen I can't tell what it was that got me.

Sorry don't know the names of everythng in this game as each time I get only a few hours into it forget I should not go to that planet and I do. I end up only having the one save so I have to start all over because I can not go back to the ship. When I press X it does nothing.

I like this game and think I can get into it more if I can actually play the game and not get to a planet that I get stuck on and can not even leave it.

It sounds like you're on a mission planet and in those cases you have to walk back to the ship assuming it's docked. You can't exit out from the map screen or inside/outside the Mako like an uncharted side mission planet. Anyway... I'm almost positive you're at the mid-boss point in the find Liara T'soni mission where you have to fight a bunch of Geth Stalkers (ghost white and spider like monstrous one shot beams) and Armatures (the much larger walking tank like mechs).

Do you still have the initial auto save made when you first touch down on any planet? If so just reload that and start over from said point. Try to build up EXP by killing everything you come across until that point. What class are you, who are your party members and what abilities do you have available?

Same thing happend last time I was playing the game when it first came out and I don't remember who I had. I dont really think it matters because me and the other 2 are killed in one hit. Hell once I got one shotted after the video ended. I'm going to give it one more try later today but I'm going to have to start over because I deleted the save because I didn't think I could get off of that planet. This time I'm going to have my own save before I go to every new planet.

Is the DLC like Oblivion, where you just pop it in and load it onto your HDD, or is there a code?

I'm smellin' a disc train.

No the only game with the new cover so far is Gears 1.
You can always lower the difficulty mid-game and see if that helps.
Indeed. I would at least give a shot before scrapping the initial save, but always save before a main mission or side mission. Also never erase the auto save when touching down because you never know what ridiculous glitch could totally screw you over.

Also make sure to check your inventory for any useful armor or ammo mods you may have overlooked or forgotten to equip. They help turn the tide of battle over to your favor with tremendous speed. Worst comes to worst just start a new game on the lowest difficulty so you can get a proper feel for it then consult anyone here for build advice.

ME is such a great game and I guarantee you'll thank yourself for sticking with it.

I'm going to start over seeing how I did delete the save file. I'm thinking of getting the guide but I'm not sure if I want to or not. I will check to see if Best Buy has one today and give it a look at to see if it is worth getting.

isn't the content only 5 bucks? so after the $2-$3 shipping + $1 for a bubble mailer(or whatever you pay) you are really only saving like a buck, maybe two, hardly seems worth it to me since you will then also have to wait for the disc to make a big circle. just my opinion but since it only cost $5 i don't see that being a great idea

thanks it was Therum that I was having the issue with. I just started about an hour ago but had to give up the tv. I will keep that site glad I didn't buy the guide.

Cool that must have just come out as I've never seen it on anything besides Gears 1. Sweet.

I finished the game recently (I stopped playing it for about 6-12 months, because I didn't like it) but then I beat it (32 hours) in 1-2 weeks cause it was that good. It is now my favorite game of all time and I cannot wait for ME2, seeing the demonstration at E3 blew me away and I think it will be MUCH better - cannot friggen wait.

did it happen to be the two disc version with the dlc?

All PH versions will be 2-disc. MS just updated the box art style on PH cases after the first pressings of the PH version were sent out so any stores that are restocking should have the newer paint scheme.

It would make sense that either Target or Gamestop would have it first, especially since many Targets have a dedicated section for $30 and under games (not clearance) for 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, DS, and Wii.

Damn it even on easy I'm still getting killed on that mine level. I almost was done with the part that I keep getting killed at but got hit once with full health. After that every time on the way to that spot I would hit some red spot that now comes out of no where and I get killed by that. The odd thing is it is spots that I have ran over in the past and now I die. I'm going to try this again later tonight and if I don't beat it then I'm done. Another thing is it was saving just before that big fight and it saves but when I die I don't start there. So it is start all over again.

One thing you'll learn when you play this game is that you have to save because the autosave system is good but not perfect. Hmm, red spot, got me man?

Yeah. Mass Effect runs so heavy on my 360 that I had to repeat the Benezia fight because I would get stuck and not be able to move (not because of an attack; just the game spazzing out).

Well atleast when I'm in the mako I can't save but I will try when I'm out of it. Hell on normal auto save worked fine now not at all. As for the red spots on the map it is on Therum at the mines. I guess some of it is ment to be lava and if you run over it you die. However the last time when I said forget it was when I was coming down off a ramp and it happend. The bad thing is I have drove on the spot all 10+ times I have played on that world.

I didn't have a problem with it, but it's just annoying, if not anything else. Other than that, I had no problems with the game, and the mako didn't really ruin anything imho, but just isn't what I would call enjoyable.

Got passed the part I was having issues with. I'm not sure the number of hours I have put into this game but I have only done Therum and Feros. I have been doing a lot of the side missions or just going to different planets and playing around. I'm around level 28 now.

Noveria is the worst planet of all. For one thing, if you do things in the wrong order, you'll end up fighting a lot more people early on. Also, I think it is probably the hardest fight of the game (if you are playing on one of the difficulties above easy). Feros was actually fun for me; nothing like shotgun to the face for zombies. Therum was boring IMO. All you did was drive up shooting things, run in and shoot more things, then run out and shoot things. Not much story at all on Therum.

They all have their own setting and mood, I enjoyed all the different scenarios with the different planets. Just wish they had a few more key pivotal missions even though I did get a lot of time in this game.:D

Hey, I've waited eons to play Mass Effect. I beat both KOTORs and the original NWN but now that I'm getting a 360 I'm going to do the Mass Effect thing. I have no idea what DLC they had come out for this game but the thread title says 2-disc out now. And I don't see this on Amazon. I'm sure that's the version I want... linky?

Anyone know if the spin-off books are considered canon? I know some of the locations will be appearing in ME2. If they're not canon I won't bother, I've been burned by spin-off books before.

They are absolutely canon and are relevant to the games. We were introduced to Saren and Captain Anderson in the first book, and some of the locations and groups in the second will show up in the second game. The lead writer for the games also wrote the books.

Thanks for the info! I will be reading these books and replaying ME1 in anticipation of ME2.

Drew Karpyshyn is a great writer and the books were very enjoyable, on the second one right now. Bought the Gears Book along with it to get free shipping with Amazon and that's been a fairly good read as well.

I felt like the second book wasn't as good as the first, but maybe it was because I read the first book after I beat Mass Effect the first time.

Maybe after I beat Mass Effect 2, I will go back and reread the second book and it will seem more relevant.

I'm a little more than halfway through the first and have no complaints. I'm really enjoying it. So long as the second isn't terribly slow paced I should be happy.

The Completionist achievement? If so then it's definitely possible. I actually got that on my first play through, haha. It's easier than you think because you only need to complete 15 main story missions and any 45 assignments to get it.
