Megazell's Free And Legal PC Games List!

Removing 'DC vs Marvel - Phase 2' - I just saw the bugs everyone else were talking about. I had no idea it was so buggy.

Going on this - I am going to post game nights with 'Free And Legal PC Games' in this thread.

Friday - 01/29/10 - 8:30 PM EST
Dungeon and Dragons Online
Server - Sarlona
Meet up will be on Xfire

If you want in post your Xfire name so we can organize.

Probably going to go Rogue.
Going to give Beyond Protocol a try since I see you have no review for it.

UPDATE: Man the interface is bad... Not saying I'm a beast at RTS but it's clumsy and confusing just to build up the base. This is to be removed immediately from my HDD.

I'm down for DDO, DLing client now.

Xfire: kamui34

I'll see how open I am tomorrow night (trying to put together my Grad School Application), but if anything, I'll roll a "battle-cleric".

I'll post an x-fire name when I sign up for a new account, or find out my old login info.
I may be a little late. You are more then welcome to start without me. I will most likely be in by 8:30 PM EST.

Since these cross-over 2D games didn't really do much for me I went and played a little DC Universe vs Mortal Kombat on my 360 which made me remember that mega posted a Mortal Kombat compilation.

I played through Mortal Kombat Project 4.1 for about 20 minutes. Sounds are good & animations. Seems to be a pretty solid MK. Special moves worked for me.

However, the fatalities seem to be missing or not working. I am unable to find a complete lists of what moves work but just a fair warning.

Edit: After some searching, no luck. I just delved down a deep, deep MK grognard hole. *shivers* TEST YO MIGHT!

Hey, I'd love to play some DDO, but Xfire doesn't like working for me... I'm DLing and gonna try reinstalling... but yeah, I'd love to play! I'm big on melee, so I might go barbarian or something...I assume we're all making new characters?

Update: Yeah, I try logging into Xfire, and it won't connect to the servers.... only ever had this issue on this PC with Xfire, Guild Wars, and occasionally Postal 2...

Any chance it's related to your firewall?

I'm ready for some gaming, waiting on Xfire for everyone else.

Don't think so.... I'm HOPING it's some password error, so I'm trying a recovery... just waiting for the email... But yeah, NEVER had any issues with DDO, WoW, or any other online games...

Update: Darn Xfire... STILL waiting for that email.... gonna check spam folder...

www.gamefaq.com has a list of all fighting moves and such. The fatalities are there just delayed like 1/2 a second. You can also updated to project 5.0.

BTW - I played DC vs Capcom vs Marvel with some friends for a about 2 hours straight today...No bug whatsoever...that game is great.

Giving out vent info via Xfire.

About to make my DDO character... not sure what I wanna play... THINKING abotu a bard, but I've never done support, so we'll see... I'll update when made and stuff

Also, DDO DOES have built in voice chat... and Xfire STILL isn't working for me... and no email in sight...

Okay, my password and stuff works on the official Xfire site... and it's not my firewall, because I've tried it with my firewall turned completely off.... Xfire just doesn't like this laptop...

Well... crap... no Xfire, means no vent info, means no joining with you guys...

If anyone wants to contact me in-game, I'm Kellanis Vilgrose, bard.

Strange Adventures in Infinite Space

Turn Based Strategy
Single Player - Yes
Multiplayer - No
Netbook Friendly

Theme: Science Fiction

In the 22nd century, colony ships were programmed to search for earthlike planets along trajectories calculated to visit stars with the best likelihood of habitable worlds. One such ship with its crew and passengers in cryostasis traveled over 2300 light years before a suitable planet was found.

Hope is a temperate world located in the Glory system on the edge of a vast nebula often referred to as the Purple Void. The nebula is unique in that it contains many unusual star types and other peculiar phenomena.

Over 100 years have passed since the colonists first arrived. It is a new beginning of deep space exploration. Technology has improved and mankind is no longer dependent on slow cryoships and robot probes. This is the setting of Strange Adventures In Infinite Space.

Sail the high sea of stars in your own deep space exploration vessel. Discover exotic star systems; seek out new technologies, artifacts and lifeforms; boldly blow up stuff where no one has blown up stuff before!

SAIS is different every time it is played. Stars, planets, black holes, nebula mass, alien patrols, items, lifeforms and other encounters are randomized for each new Strange Adventure.

# Playing time: 5-20 minutes
# Number of players: solo
# Difficulty: variable
# Replayability: infinite

The full version of SAIS features:

# 21 different ship types
# 69 different weapons, drives, shields, gadgets and artifacts
# 18 alien lifeforms
# 17 different planet and star types
# 7 unique alien races

Megazell's Comment - The makers of this game brought a lot of forethought into this game. There is not a strategy that you can come up with that the game is not ready to engage and conquer. On top of this the game is mod-able. Also, take a look at the developers site in the DL link they have a lot of other games for free to offer you. BTW, there is a hefty load of sci-fi comedy in here :)

I've been playing some of that Alliance of Valiant Arms MMOFPS you posted, holy crap is that game quality! It's a good mix of Call of Duty speed and Counter Strike gameplay, it's addicting. It does have a few rough edges though, they definitely need to tighten up the graphics on level 3.

I love AVA....Did you try Prison Break mode? That screams L4D.

Yeah but MKP doesn't say what moveset from what game they use. Only that they use MK3 models. Forums are down. Gamefaqs ain't going to tell me much about what MKP uses. When I get back home I will experiment and we will get a final answer.

I really can't get in to it. Whether it's the shameless spawn points, the janky AI or the near impossible difficulty to complete the level I'm not sure.

It's hard as hell. It reminds me of Ut2k4 Invasion mode. I think the longest I survived is 8 mins in Prison Break mode.

Robot Battle

Theme: Science Fiction

Robot Battle is a programming game that challenges you to design and code adaptable battling robots. Robot Battle is unique because it takes strategy rather than reflexes, accuracy, or timing to succeed. Winning Robot Battle players are those who create the smartest robots. What differentiates one robot from the next is its brain, for which you are responsible.

Megazell's Comment - I dabble in robotics from time to time. It's one of my seasonal hobbies. My kid and I work with Lego Mindstorms and remote control cars that we trick out with weapons for local tournaments. This game/program is perfect for working on ideas and just to make some bots on the fly to fight against each other. I would say it's less of a game and more of creation/art expression program.

Man,

I have to reiterate. If you have not played 'Secret Maryo Chronicles" you should. I just watched my kid play it from 2nd map to the 4th map...it is very very well made. I took control of the game for some portions that kept stumping my kid but the save and load features are great. The music is EXCELLENT. Very well made Mario clone.

Tonight's game is DDO. 9:00 PM EST - Xfire meetup.

I am starting to think something's wrong with your browser or PC.

You may want to use HijackThis and post up your findings on a tech forum or you can PM. Sounds like you have stuff running in the background that shouldn't.

Also, I tested all MUGEN games that I posted. They run 100% fine with exception of 'Phase 2' which I 'deaded' but there is a patch for that version out. Going to check it out later when I can.

The forums are not down - http://mkmp.net/
I am not trying to be argumentative just trying to make sure everything is working so I guess the next guy down the line wanting to easily get into MKP 4.1 will have an easier time.

But you list the primary download link as this: http://www.geocities.jp/ratonmalo_ar/download.html that page is main page for Mortal Kombat Project 4.1. There is a link there under News and Download that says "Forum" if you click that link: http://www.mkmugen.org/forum/ it says no one owns that domain etc etc.

The link you provided for forums: http://mkmp.net/forum3.php does not have any information for MKP 4.1 under their full releases (I investigated this site and registered before I made the post about forums being down.)

I have been doing posts over my phone so I couldn't compare links earlier. I tested a few MK3 fatalities and had a few problems. I'm just a little peeved the devs for MKP4.1 didn't include a readme within data or chars that listed exactly what moves they had implemented.

Hey,

Don't ever worry about it. I never get emotional or what not when it comes to INTERNET talk :)

The thing with indie games especially MUGEN games is that the developers are never stable. The original makers of the engine had a fall out years ago over nonsense and within 3 days of them posting on their forums about it all of their sites and links were down.

Now with MUGEN games some of the developer (I think many of them) are not English speakers so their support and 'professionalism' towards game making varies.

In fact, I have a lot of fighting games on my personal PC for me to play that I found on the web but they have ZERO support or 'read me' files. I find myself (if I like the game a lot) going to Google and looking for translators just to understand their options window and what not. Most of those games I won't post. They are great games though many of them have zero bugs but with them being in Italian, Japanese and Korean...it may frustrate the average American PC Gamer.

MKP 4.1 game is one of the closet MK experience you can get on the PC until Midway starts making PC version of their modern series (I doubt). In the desrciption portion I let others know it's in beta at the time of my post and still had a few bugs which happen to be all fatality related.

Trust me I don't mind the discourse over these games and I too think it helps the thread so don't be bothered at all. But if the game is frustrating you to the point where you can not enjoy it....Del it and try something else :)

I found quite a few but many of them are in other languages with no english support. I knew a few languages so it's not a bother to me but they are not ideal for posting here.

There is a horror MMORPG I am going to post up soon. Right now, I am in the middle of a round of archery. When I am done I will post it up tonight.

Fiend

Fiend is a a 2D survival horror game greatly influenced on the work of HP Lovecraft. You play as Nick Cane who is sent to the small town of Lauder to see if a mine contains any valuable minerals. Arriving at Lauder you suspect that all is not right with the town and slowly the visit turns into a nightmare.

The game was released in 2001 and took around 2 years of work to finish. The engine is made using the allegro library and has features such as realtime lighting and particles effects.

Megazell's Comment - This game was an early creation of the same makers of the fps/horror series 'Penumbra', which original was also a free game - when they saw it was getting a lot of buzz and donations - they took the game off of the free to play status and began to charge for it. Anyway, Fiend is a good game but has 2 drawbacks 'spelling errors and 'spelling errors'....there are many of them. Outside of that the storyline is good and the gameplay is decent. The scare factor is there also.

Legacy of Flan 4: Flan Rising is a bizarre RPG that features a unique leveling system that lets you upgrade your party of four flans by collecting random drops during the battle. How often the drops appear and how good they are is determined entirely by your party’s “Loot Drop” stat, which is higher when you fight more difficult monsters (especially Boss Monsters), but can also be raised manually during battle by certain Flans. Each type of Flan has its strengths and weaknesses, of course, and finding the right combination is crucial.
