Metal Gear Solid 4 & Metal Gear Online - 8/6: Rumored Trophy Update Out Now? Rumor!

I have to agree. Konami totally fucked up the ID thing. I don't mind the updates at all (leaving it on overnight makes it go faster for everyone else too), but if they make you sign up for an ID, it shouldn't be this hard.

I was lucky and got an ID a few days ago, but it's still a really lame, redundant system. Also, doesn't this mean you'll have to log into Konami's servers every time you want to play? What happens if they decide to shut the servers down after a year again?

I seem to get thru just fine still... maybe its my ISP tho? dunno... GL to everyone else, sorry to hear it got tough to register

Because MGO's not a beta this time around like it was on the PS2. Plus, Kojima's pledged that they will support for the game for a long time, though he said it would be for 10 years.

That's reassuring, but I'm still curious what would happen if they did decide to take down their servers, or if they happen to be inaccessible for a while. It seems people would still be able to set up their own, unranked Warhawk and CoD4 servers if the master servers for those games went away, but with MGO you need the Konami ID to get past the title screen.

Glad I registered for the Konami ID ahead of time, but I still cant download as they fucked up my code, and even after emailing them, they've yet to sort it out.

I'm runnin out of time!

Well I finally was able to download the patch. Now I have to try and register the the fucking ID. It would be nice if Konami gave us a GOOD reason for not using our PSN accounts for this.

Gotta love the portal ID's Engrish though.

System is very busy now.

Thank you for visiting Konami ID portal.

System is very busy now.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
We would like you to try to access again in later.

I wonder if the system is busy?
Also how do I "access again in later"?

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but I just received an email via IGN Insiders & Founders Club. Just like the "Bad Company Beta" for 360 there giving away codes tommorrow (Friday 18th) for members.

Comcast Cable subscribers were getting IGN Insiders & Founders for free.

I don't have a PS3 so if anyone is interested in trading a 1 month LIVE for a beta code send me a PM.

I left it on last night and woke up this morning with it finished. The PS3 is damn reliable incase anyone thinks otherwise if scared their PS3 will meltdown or something.
Is anyone able to download this patch? I try the peer to peer and it just sits there. The HTTP download doesn't do anything.
Same here. Stuck at 0%.

All of them except mine right? MY system locks up when you try to enter the GameID or Password.
Just download it from the UK store.
I did since my code was crap and Konami never responded.
oh wow, I didn't know that was even an option.
This is pretty lame though, I unsealed my MGS Saga dvd for nothing now.
finally p2p is working for me, even if it is going around 1 kb a second
1kb a second:drool:. I'm going at 0.02 kb a second.

Took a good three hours just to get the download to finish, i'm going to wait until more people are downloading the patch before tackling that one.

Concerning the Konami ID, just posted on their site :whistle2: (guess I'll wait till tomorrow then ...)

Looks like someone's losing a bet...

Edit: Nevermind, maintenance is already over, and the site still blows. 20:00 in Japan is 6am on the east coast.

lololol :booty:

Yup. Site still sucks balls and can't get any further than I did before.

EDIT: Interestingly the maintenance info is gone from their frontpage. Almost like nothing happened.

Whlie I might not be able to get any farther than I could before, the site does seem to actually be loading faster. Maybe they will finally have it fixed in the next couple days. I wish we had a good reason for needing this thing. It would make the problem a little less annoying.

Downloading the patch now. Are you able to goof off at all with the Beta once you're set-up or is it completely useless until Monday?

"completely useless until Monday"

So close to getting a Konami ID, got all the way up to where you input your info and now I can't even get past the part where you enter your country and birthday

Phew, finally got through and I'm ready for Monday. If you're using Firefox, I highly recommend finding a macro add-on to fill out that form. It made it a lot less painful.

Just got a beta code through my Insider subscription... wow, finally got something kinda cool. ;) Do I need to do anything else? (like going through the mess on Konami's page or anything?) It looks like I'm good to go.. (have a 12-letter code and everything)

Jeeeeeesus fucking christ, am I the only one who can't download this update at all? I've left my PS3 on for about 20 hours now and so far I have a whopping 11% done (p2p download). Did any of you that performed the miracle of downloading this patch change any of the settings?

The thing is really flakey. I didn't change a single setting (my router has UPnP, so no ports to open) and the first time I tried it sat there for 15-20 minutes doing absolutely nothing. Turned it off and tried again an hour later and it downloaded at 200+ kbps without any problems.

P2P was working for me when I turned it on for the update this morning.

Was going at 1% a minute when I left it, so I'm assuming it's done when I get home.
I have the shitiest wireless router in the world, can't even open ports.
So I'm glad it was working.
