Metal Gear Solid 4 & Metal Gear Online - 8/6: Rumored Trophy Update Out Now? Rumor!

for some reason the moment Pierre mentioned it, it hit me that Campbell's voice is Grandpa Max from Ben10 lol

who's seen Ben10 raise their hand! *raises hand*
anybody else? ....no one? ...

well ok then...wonder if that solidified my fate as a 12 year old kid lol

...

nice job with the wins vs the konami team. Too bad I never was able to play any cag games. I sucked anyway lol. The only games I exceled at were the knife only battles lol.

and that mgs4 'theatrical' trailer was pretty sweet. Wonder who was it that was camo-changing as the guy/girl. Had a nice ass lol. Don't know if it's been mentioned before (didn't read through all the pages here), but is that Eva?

Congrats guys. I wish I had played it a bit more though. From the little I played, I seemed to be good at it.

As far as the trailer goes, context, context, context. Also, it will probably change for the real game, as most trailers for movies have lines not used in movies, and retakes are used for better tones.

Every game is a knife only battle.

Lol. For you and your box. I don't know what I'll use, probably the M4 and switch up with the SVD if I for some reason want to snipe. For knife you want like fast movement and need to be a sneaky bastard.

40GB=no BC.
Wow, I was assuming the MGS4 bundle was an 80GB...that sucks. Plus, ONLY available through Konami...there goes my Blockbuster idea...oh well.
Uh, there are two bundles. The one listed above and the 80GB with MGS4/DS3 included.
I think there will still be a black 80gb, non-limited version. Available everywhere. Am I right?
~S
Yes.
Uh, there are two bundles. The one listed above and the 80GB with MGS4/DS3 included.
I knew they had a black one also, I just assumed the gray one was also an 80GB and not as limited as it is. I bet they would sell nicely on EBAY ;)

Bleh, sounds like it's going to be a bitch to get :\

Edited to add: Man, there's going to be extra shipping, AND the Konami site charges tax in CA. *cry*

Too rich for my blood. If it was an 80 gb system I might've considered it, but not for a 40. Either way these will sell out quickly just like they did in Japan. Oh well, at least the infomation is finally out there for all to see.

From the Tokyo Gameplay event ending:

"Yes, the presentation event has ended. Everything is according to plan."

"We will proceed to the final steps of the mission. The surprise that's planned on launch date, should it be executed?

"Yes. Akihabara, New York, LA...worldwide live broadcast. Yes, there are no problems. The VIP has agreed to come. Yes, that's correct. That person. Understood. June 12."

"And what should we do about that project? Yes, that's right. That man has shattered, but...about the sequel. Yes. Yes... I see. That's understood, Mr. Company President.""

Speculations on who is the VIP?

Yeah that will bring the cost closer to $700. $400 for the console plus $85 for the LE game = $115 for the steel color? :bomb:

The sad thing is that I am so intent on getting it that the price wouldn't deter me from buying it.
Ahh, so it'll be revealed once I get to Drebin and see his wares in the game?
Perhaps.

But, even if you read the name. I doubt they would describe what the gun does.

What it does is very interesting and unlike anything from the past MGSs.

Drebin will think I really am a CAG. I loved the MK and the silenced gun EVA gave me. The only time I ever used anything else, was in boss fights. I use MK first, becase even a non-head shot will eventually bring them down. Then, because I don't like to be rushed, but waking gaurds, I use the silenced hand-gun to make sure they don't awake. I don't see me giving Drebin much bid-ness.

I must say that that gun-metal is FUGLY. Making it pink, and calling it the Raiden Special is about the only way I could have been less interested.
Interesting...

Frisky, can you add something in the title sometime to tell people not to post spoilers.
How's that? I added a note to the OP, too, but in case nobody reads that, I'll post it here:

With MGS4 nearing release, please keep articles and links to other sites with spoilers and other important info to post just the link with a warning, vague descriptions, and if you must discuss it here, use spoiler tags (
[/ spoiler], remove space) so that don't ruin these surprises for everyone that wishes to not be spoiled.

Well, the gunmetal edition has been announced on the Konami website:
  • Gun Metal Gray PLAYSTATION®3 with a 40GB Hard drive
  • Gray DUALSHOCK®3 wireless controller
  • Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Limited Edition
    • The Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots game, which includes Metal Gear Online, enabling you to take part in the ultimate multiplayer squad based tactical shooter
    • Exclusive Blu-ray disc including over 2 hours of additional content - "Hideo Kojima's Gene" a behind-the-scenes vision of Hideo Kojima's production team & game and "The Making of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots" documentary
    • The official Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots CD Soundtrack, including 16 never-before-released tracks by Harry Gregson-Williams (Shrek, Armageddon, The Rock), Nobuko Toda, and Ennio Morricone
All for the low low price of $600.
The breakdown then for the two versions:

Regular bundle pack:

Cost: $500
Memory: 80 gig
Included: MGS4 regular edition
Accessories: (1) Dualshock 3 controller
Addditional features: Backwards emulation for 85% of PS2 games

Limited Edition bundle pack:
Cost: $600
Memory: 40 gig
Included: MGS4 Limited edition
Accessories: (1) Dualshock 3 controller
Addditional features: Gunmetal finish

I think you can see what's the better deal, CAG's.
I am a dyed-in-the-wool hardcore MG fan since 1988-- but I'll be damned to pay an extra $100 for half the memory and zero backwards compatibility.
In fact, I'll be getting the regular edition, then buying a copy of the LE game, and then reselling the copy that comes in the package at around $50...and I'll still save money.

I could care less about the finish. I'll just buy a skin that dulls the look like that if I want.

Damn, I want that LE but not for 600!
$600 for a 40GB or $500 for an 80GB?

That's not a question. It's a line used to divide people from suckers.

QFT!:applause:
Seconded. Then again, maybe they're just getting a piece of the pricing pie before the entrepreneurs get their cut, which, by even marked-up prices won't be much. There's a limit people will pay.
The gun metal case is also a different material from the regular case.
Not metal, but it is more than just a paint job.
Allow me, with no offense to you, to offer up the following response:

it's ridge racer... riiiiidge racer~!!

I really wanted that limited edition pack too...

but now I'm angry,

I'm still gonna buy it... but only to resell....

I'm doing it out of spite and angst

If it's not made out of the same material as other PS3, ie plastic and it's not metal, what is it? I probably would've bought this if it was a 80 gb unit and included an extra controller, but 40 gb, no thanks. At least it will be limited unlike other so called limited editions.

Eh, they've been hinting at further MGS games ever since Kojima said that he would not be working on another metal gear game. Instead he just said others would work on it, and this would be the last Metal Gear game with Snake in it.

I'm hoping for a Metal Gear vs. Metal Gear giant robot fighting game, something that'd compete with Chromehounds, except less annoying.

I for one hope they do put out the 2.4 update with achievements, 2D trophies, in-game XMB, and various other features out this Summer with MGS4, especially since Home's open beta was pushed back. If anything, getting these features up and running better prepares other developers for Home. Then, it also sets things right with the PSN just in time for Resistance 2 and many other games later this year.

And if Sony doesn't get in gear, Konami has certain competitors that they can easily call up.

Since MGS has had a lot of collection and achievement-like activities to it, for those that enjoy that kind of thing, achievements could really benefit MGS4. Along with in-game XMB for setting up games and whatnot.
