Metal Gear Solid 4 & Metal Gear Online - 8/6: Rumored Trophy Update Out Now? Rumor!

Sometimes you have to, to help bring your camo level back up, but you don't need it that often because the camo changes so fast to the next environment.

Yeah, it seems to change pretty quickly on it's own.

I noticed you could register Camo patterns and do it manually too, but seems like too much trouble unless you just like a certain look, or need to keep it on something.

Yeah, that's old school, pain-in-the-ass MGS3 style.

----

I highly recommend everyone plays the last act with a Sixaxis, instead of a DS3.
Anybody else agree with me when I say that this game has some of the best graphics ever? It's really a showcase for the PS3 and easily beats a lot of CG out there to boot.
I'd have to disagree. There are moments that are absolutely brilliant and shine, but then others that seem a bit subpar. Granted, I am playing on an SD TV.

In other news, getting caught in this game can be brutal. If two guys from a PMC happen to be together and they spot you, you're as good as dead. I had the hardest time trying to run through the part of Act 1 just before
you meet up with the rat patrol
. I was caught twice in the second act and didn't have a problem, however.

The camera gave me issues in Act 1 as well, especially in the collapsed buildings (confined spaces). I don't know if it took time to get accustomed to the controls, or I'm still used to the warfare in MGS3, but Act 2 went off much easier overall.
Needed a little break after a few hours of sneaking around trying not to kill.
I'm tempted to-- but all I did was re-establish my character from the Beta thus far. I really want to focus on the game.

Well, then you are sorely missing out. It's like cocaine for your eyes when you watch it on an HDTV. I have never seen it's equal.

Two words: stun grenades. And RUN.

About that last boss I faced...
I wasn't really enjoying it until I picked up the dolls then it turned awesome as it went all...well the Family Guy episode with the bit having the line "The power of christ compells you bitch!" which was awesome. Then after that...WOW. Total fanservice, and totally awesome.

I love everything about it Broly. :D

Did you try
switching controller numbers with the PS menu? That was the first thing I did

Really? There was a time that I stumbled across like 4 of them and they all saw me at once. I just simply shot one with my M4, dived off around a corner and played dead on my back. Two of them came around the corner and one went over to kick me, I immediately pulled out my gun, killed them both and then hopped up and CQC'd the remaining guy. I hardly lost any health. I am playing on Solid Normal or whatever they call it.

Yeah, I did, and I
got every message during that fight.

I still felt
the part where mantis shows up for a few of the jokes where he can't read your thoughts was a bit out of place... it happened in the middle of a very serious part. It was good, just felt like the timing was off. at campbell calling to give help.

I'm still blown away that
zero
was the origin of the patriots...

I did that exact thing. Seemed so obvious.

Took me two sittings, one of 3.5 hours, the second of 17 hours to complete it. Well worth every penny and every second.
Some of you guys are blazin' through the game. I'm only up to act 2.
Shoot, I haven't even had a chance to unbox my MGS4 PS3 bundle.
Some of you guys are blazin' through the game. I'm only up to act 2.
yeah, I set aside an entire day for it though... within the span of litterally 23 hours and 45 min after release I beat the game. damn good.
I did that exact thing. Seemed so obvious.

I think my sittings were the same.
I think my sittings were the same.
My friend and I pretty much did inverse sittings. I had a midterm yesterday morning, so I actually had to sleep, but he played straight through until our afternoon class, then beat act 5 when he got home. I played up until the meeting with Rat Patrol in Act 1 before sleeping, then the rest of the game starting last evening. I think that was the longest time I have ever spent playing a single game in a sitting.

Must just be me then. There were at least three occasions where I took one step too far before doing CQC (thus attacking the air behind one of the guys' backs). He turned around and clubbed me with his gun, then the two took turns firing at me when I was on the ground and kicking me the second I tried to roll or stand.

I've got it on Solid Normal as well and have had zero problems with Act 2, so I was probably just needing to get used to the system again.

I didn't get hungry, but I didn't play through it straight. I played Acts 3 and 4 back to back though. I just beat it. It's my GOTY right now. High production values everywhere, nice story, good controls, closure on many things.

A few things, on the Extras Menu after beating it...
I unlocked something called Password. Anyone figure out what I'm supposed to type in there?

Also, for those who know about it
How do you get the Altair suit? Just thought I'd ask.

I read up on the Altair costume,
you need the Assassin medal at the end of the game this is what I've read unlocks it:

50 CQC grabs
50 knife kills or stuns
25 of less alerts

ACT 5 SPOILER: At the end of the
Screaming Mantis boss fight at the end, even though Psycho Mantis says he failed to move my controller, it did move because I'm using a DS3
.

About cutscene length:
There's no way there are any cutscenes near 90 minutes in this game.

I think you need 20 hours of game time in MGO to start, join clans.
That's nuts.

Where is this Tin case from?
I heard something about the signing events.

Usually it doesn't even make sense trying to stand back up if the enemy is still right there. If you get knocked down you can just whip out your gun and shoot an enemy where you lie
There are more outfits to find.

You have to beat the Beasts in that manner to get their face camo.
BUT!
When I beat Laughing Octopus the first time, I killed her "boss form" and I tranq'd her zombi-walk form, and still got the face camo. I guess for the real fight you don't need to tranq them to get their face camo?
Finished off the third act.
The whole tail a resistance guy thing at the beginning was kind of weak, as I couldn't figure out how to get mine past a guard, so he ran off and I managed to find a new one that took a piss in the nearby park and kept running into guards, so I had to babysit him most of the time until I got to the next area. After that, it gets much better. I love these vehicles chases being more than just the escape scene near the end of the game, like the previous games. It's nice that the gameplay's being changed up instead of being pretty much the same thing throughout like in the first three MGS games. I'm not sure what I think about what the Guns of the Patriots really is.
Easy, you knock out the guards with the tranq pistol, that's what I did and I never got busted. I did it in the trenchcoat too.

Right.
Right.
For the Raging Raven fight, I tranqed her boss form and zombie walk form, nothing extra from what I can tell.

haha I must be the slowest player in the world
who else besides me beat the first act in 6 hours? LOL

I'm taking things quite slow. Inching around slowly and sometimes playing around with dead bodies lol. Trying to be both sneaky and kill as many people as I feel necessary (to satisfy my urge to shoot something).

Maybe I was fighting some super soldiers or the game just doesn't like me. I'll have to give it a try again, but between the kicking and gunning, I couldn't flip over (fall on stomach).

I believe you're wrong.
Quite good for Japan.
1 Million worldwide day 1 sales seems plausible now, I felt it was too lofty a goal.
It was never an actual goal.

That's what I did after the first PMC encounter, but it never stopped him from running into more until he put the PMC suit on. Even in the park when he'd be at the south stairs and PMC would be at the east entrance with a barrell in the middle, he decided to shoot the barrell and not hide anymore

Oh fucking great! I had to take a piss, so I pressed start during a codec call to pause it and it skipped the damn thing. fuck! I haven't saved it in over an hour and when I killed myself it loaded back after the codec call.

fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck!

fuck it, I guess I am going to start Act 2 all over again. This better be a fucking amazing codec call fucking bullshit!....$(&!@*(^$!(&*^@#$!@*(^&!)!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, I finished the first act with no kills/alerts.

1 hour 37 minutes (no cutscenes).
Hmm, I havent even started...

My guess is the MKII really helps unless it counts towards your alerts, which I'm guessing the answer is no.

Apparently, you have the option to route the codec conversations to a Bluetooth headset. While the rest of the game audio outputs to your main speakers. How cool is that? I guess I should read the rest of the manual lol

When you play the hidechan song (jpop) on the ipod and hit start, you can watch Sunny do her idol impression. There's just so much crap in this game I don't think I'll ever see it all which is a shame :(
