well the second act this far is a different environment but I am doing the same basic thing - work through a battle zone to be rewarded with a long cut scene that progresses the story. I don't mind it as long as gameplay eventually progresses the story, otherwise this game should have been a movie.
battle with Laughing Octopus which was much easier than expected (im playing on normal)
and the game play picked up a LOT. I feel like I am part of what is going on now instead of some random guy
sneaking through a battle that he is impartial to. Raiden is a straight up badass
which is awesome but also saddens me because
I would like to take control and do some crazy Ninja Gaiden-esque fighting myself.
The cut scenes are still killing me though. Another thing that I feel I am noticing too much is all the
"out of game" things going on. Raiden had to explain to me how to follow footprints with the NV on like I was 6 and Snake answers back like "Tracking?" like a retard and Raiden is like "Tracking is using clues to find someone" and Snake is like "Ahhh..I didn't know that even though I'm a hardened hero/war badass." Or when Rose is like below your life meter you have a psych meter....
that just ruins the in-game world for me...i forgot who but they told me to
press start
...I'm like WTF....I came across the
hand imprints and Hideo Kojima has some fat ing hands.
Sorry guys..just rambling about the game and what I've noticed as a noob to MGS. I am right at the part where I am trying to
Yeah all those in-game things you mentioned Malik is sort of how the MGS series has been just wait 'til you get to the part where (not story spoling, promise)
otacon tells you to switch disks and then goes "oh, wait this is a PS3! it plays blu-rays! we don't have to switch disks"

yeah..i knew that happened at some point in the game....Snake should reply with "But we do have to wait 3 minutes for the install to complete."
pressed "X" for flashbacks that the images were just a little more in focus/up longer..
fought
Raging Raven
...pretty cool battle....basically the same as
Laughing Octopus....dodge attacks and shoot a missle/rpg at the bitch
.... one thing that irks me about the
BB corps battles is that they literally ripped people apart bafore and tore shit up but hen you actually fight them they are just bleh
also....anyone else notice/dislike that during
heavy action scenes (like the motorcycle get away with big mama) you reach a loading screen like every 30 seconds?
The loading is just a few seconds but I wish there wasnt a break in the action so often so I could really get into all the shit happening at that moment
OMFG..the put in disk 2 thing was sooo stupid...probably the lamest shit ive ever seen in a game much less a AAA title...he talks like blu-ray is amazing - "what will they come up with next" but I have a crazy badass camo suit, super high tech eye patch, ing nano machines going ape shit in my body and a little ing robot that follows me around fully cloaked to the naked eye but blu-ray is amazing
OMFG..the put in disk 2 thing was sooo stupid...
Actually, no, it wasn't. As I said before, in order to get the most out of these games, you need to have played the previous ones. That line was a reference to the original PS1 game, where you actually had to switch the discs at that spot. It had little to do with flaunting Blu-ray and almost everything to do with "winking" at the fans. All of the MGS games are full of call-backs and forth-wall breakings.
Damn. Stop taking the game so damn seriously, Malik.

Still I need to play the other MGS games so I can get the whole back story
Just got past the credits..now I get it
Definitely play MGS3. There was a LOT more referenced from MGS1 and MGS3 that had to do with the plot of MGS4. My personal opinion as far as gameplay and story goes:
Havent posted this on CAG, I felt the need too! I recently bought a PS3 with MGS4 and i beat MGS4 about 2 weeks ago. Totally worth the $500, Best ing game ever.
Any word on trophy support at all? Even just the slightest hint?

I really wish they implemented it, Its the biggest system seller for the PS3 atm and an amazing game and it would make it worth replaying much more.
If nano machines can basically make you immortal, then why can't they stop/slow down/reverse the aging process in Snake? You can shoot a guy right between the eyes and cut him to shreds and he laughs it off but you can't get rid of Snake's ing back aches!??!

aging and accelerated healing are two totally different things.
You both make somewhat good points but I think the real difference is that immortality and "somewhat" invincibility are two different things. I may be wrong though
still have yet to play mine.. I dropped DMC4 in first and will wrap that up then start MGS4.
Ok i lied I took DMC4 out and got pretty far this weekend into the game I am starting chapter 4. So far I am really liking it. The cutscenes are a bit too long, but the game is good.

That's what I was thinking...
The nanomachines didn't stop Naomi from aging and couldn't cure her cancer, it just stopped it from growing any further. That's far from granting immortality.

See, the thing is,
Snake's cells were programmed to 1. prevent reproduction and 2. die off at an accelerated rate (hence, his aging). That means if the nanos had the ability to reprogram every cell in his body to go against this, they'd never be able to handle bullet wounds, cuts, and whatnot when incurred, and for that matter, the insane amount of code it would take to do such a thing.
Not to mention the fact that there are literally trillions of cells in your body, so it would be nigh impossible to have that many nanomachines floating around in you without putting on some significant weight and generally getting in the way of bodily function, even if they were the size or smaller than a microscopic cell.
Vamp's nanos were there to do one thing only: heal. He also had vers. 2.0 of the nanos which allowed this, whereas Snake (back from MGS1) still had Vers. 1.0. So by healing, Vamp stayed invulnerable, but not immortal. Snake basically had to get patched software to just even have his nanos work efficiently and stave off death just a little while longer.
Are people still playing online? I'd love to pick this up but I'll wait for a price drop if the online is a ghost town.
Mine is mint and I will let it go for $30 plus shipping. Mint.
The way PS3 exclusives have gone, and considering this is one of the most successful PS3 titles so far, I doubt you will see a drop anytime soon.
Heh, yea, Resistance has just recently seen a price drop and that was a launch title.
Heh, yea, Resistance has just recently seen a price drop and that was a launch title.
Yep. Until it became a GH title, it was still retailing for $60, despite the fact that you could easily go on eBay and get copies for a lot less. If anyone wants a cheap copy of MGS4, their best bet is going through channels other than retail.
Did you see the whole ending or just the part where
Snake "supposedly" done himself in, because if that's the only part, then you, sir, missed like an hour of horribly boring cutscenes including the longest "just ing die already" scene EVER
Seriously just throw it up on ebay or something if you are bothered greatly by it.
Anyway recently got a ps3 with mgs4 and finished it, and giving the mgo a go. Anyway of you guys still playing it online or is the id system to much maddness, or does all the ps3 cag community play is warhawk?

Totally still playing it. Granted, there's a new problem with glitchers locking down in a position and being able to shoot through walls, but so far it's sporadic rather than rampant. They've been good about fixing things quickly, so they're pretty much aware of the problem. There's easily a couple thousand player on during most nights.
Anyways, I don't own warhawk and I still have yet to activate the demo.
