Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops - Add your MGO Tags to Play with Fellow CAGs

That was a lot of fun, gg.

I liked how JEKKI planted a porn mag, and then pwned me while my guy was gawking at it.

Edit: By the way, who is CLOUD_ or whatever?

Hey if you guys end up playing tonight, use the same name and password, and I'll join up with you. I played for like 2 hours last night, I got a little lag here and there, did anybody else?

I have a guy with a shotgun, and I don't think I like it. I shoot someone, they fly across the room and land, but it only takes like 1/3 of there life away, then I go to shoot them when they are on the ground, and someone else is shooting me in the back.... It just takes to long... If you get hit with a shotgun at close range, you ain't coming back.... (But I guess it's better than the tranq. gun and Kung Fu I was using the first night)

don't forget that the rank the character is with a weapon class determines how good the weaponc can be.

I play Reikov with shotgun sunce he's ranked S with shotgun. I can land shots from far with him and on average upclose he can do 45% damage.

just a note because I think not everyone knows this and it can save your ass:

to reload your weapon manually, hold L and press Circle...

whoo! I beat the game last nite!!

good game last nite,

my girl character sucks, but she has 100+ hp so I use her,

but I think I need to replace her with someone more useful...

I just hope to stay away from unique characters tho...

Oh, alright. Have Rolento change your name on the front page then... because I was confused as to who you were.

Yeah sorry that was my mistake

I was able to add all of you who were playing last night to my friends list, which is awesome. Now, I can see what game you're in, and join it.

I think there is still a few CAGers who I need added, though.

I'm glad I can play this with fellow CAGers, I was kind of late to the party for the online play on MGS3: Subsistence.

Yeah, I still find the most enjoyable online games I've played have been with CAGs :)

now, if only unlocking Gene was easier >_<

I found an even easier way to recruit soldiers this past week in case anyone wants to know.

Sure, share any tips you have!

Anybody have an extra MPO PSP case or doesn't want their own and would like to sell? I've got some paypal and I'd love to have the case, so PM me if you're interested.

I may be willing to part with my case, PM me a price.

as for recruiting:

when dragging soldiers, don't send them to the truck! here's a faster way. After knocking out someone, look for a hiding spot nearby. Drag that person right next to that hiding spot and hide there (ie. change characters). Once you are a different soldier/character call cambell up using the prisoner evacuation number (if you don't have that, call him up the regular way and he'll give you the number). After that you'll have a captured soldier without having to drag them all the way back :)

I thought I already posted that....

anyway I'm on my way to getting both gene AND cunningham rite now.

apparently, to get gene you need 200 captures total,

but you can combine play thrus to reach 200.

so when I beat it on normal I caught 157,

which means I only need to get 43 more guys in my restarted game!!

that and tranq kill gene & cunningham

mustv missed it... >_<

I've got every single boss tranq killed but I still am about 75 soldiers away from Gene... I am at the end on my second run, but don't want to end the game till I get those 200 guys.

Yeah, I've been doing that. I usually sneak around with one of my men that looks like the enemy, and then I creep up behind them and stun 'em. That doesn't last too long, so I usually tranq about 3 - 4 different guards, and have them all evacuated at the same time.

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops - Community Support Site is up: https://mpoweb.konamionline.com/us/mpocommunity/

It's pretty cool, you can look up rankings and what not. And you can actually see who you have added to your Friend List, and see if those people added you back.

I notice JEKKI needs to add us back! And I forgot to add J-FUNK last night.

Edit: You have to make the Username and Password capitalized to be able to log-in.

Can someone explain the "Scan Wi-fi" option. From what I understand, you can recruit different characters via wi-fi depending on your location? So, if I were to use it at my house, then at my friend's house or school, I would get a different person?

How does it differentiate one location from another?

I forgot to add anyone last night

I'll try to remember next time we all play.

It shows that you have me already added. :D

Yes, you can only get a recruit from a Wireless Access Point, once. I think each PSP has its own code, and it uses that, as well as the MAC of the router to randomly generate a character.

Yeah, I added you and Rolento the first night we played, I got lazy last night though.

I've got a quick question in regards to getting Gene. Do you have to have a total of 200 soldiers on hand? Or does it keep track of the number of people you've captured along the way. I ask because I've been discharging a lot of the crappy people I've recruited.

You can't have 200 at once, so it is throughout the game you must have recuited at least 200.

Is there any way to check along the way how many you've recruited? Or can you only find that out after you beat the game?

only once you beet it. easiest way to tell is by checking your stats regularly.

the community site needs more going on, but it's pretty good.

Sorry guys, if you played last night I didn't get a chance to get on with you. My g/f came over and watched a movie and we fell asleep.

Do you guys always play on the "Snake" server? I'll just make sure to sign into that one when I do get on. Also has anybody got any lag at all? I got just a bit the other night, and I wondering if its my wireless router or the server.

Sorry I don't feel like fishing through all the replies in this thread... but did anyone post how exactly to fix the UDP port thing? I changed mine on my router to 3057 (or whatever it's supposed to be) and I still get the UDP port error. I REALLY want to be able to create my own game for my friends... can anyone help? Thanks!

Not yet, I can't create games either.

Where did you get port 3057 from? I can't seem to find anything about how to fix the problem.

I read it on the Gamefaqs.com forum. They said about changing the UDP ports to some number like that (3057 may not be the exact number, I don't remember).

... Man it kills me that I can't create games on there.

Just unlocked Sokolov, Eva, Ocelot, and Elisa or whatever her name is... now all I need are gene, campbell, and cunningham. I'll work on cunningham now a bit along with gene maybe...

How do you unlock Eva?

 big pain in the ass... I forget... I know it's a mix of cambell calling you and you interrogating people. I also just got a polatition as a soldier  a man in a suit is going to kick ass online :)

if anything, go to gamefaqs... that's where I've gotten most of my info.

gene's going to be a bitch, especially in the time frame of unlocking cunningham...

i still want gene and cambell the most.

i got a problem. i tried to connect to infrastructure. it then freezes at the "Checking UDP port". but when i try cyber survival, i got through.
anybody playing tonight?
I was!!!

I was fighting a game against a team of 3 solid snakes!!

wtf is that?!?!

I emptied a whole uzi clip into one of them and they're still alive!!

(the uzi is a great weapon btw for target lock killing someone!!)

roufuss>> once u get used to the controls, it's fun.

I'm on my 2nd playthru, and I NEVER play games twice...

and I'll probably do a 3rd playthru to further get more unique characters

I played a few games last night, I was doing pretty good with my AK-47 vs. uzi's. I need to get one of those. The problem is everytime I sit down to play I just jump online, instead of playing the single player.

I kept fighting these guys that looked like a hellrazor guy. He had an uzi with a lazer scope. Most of the people I have played just like to run right at you with guns blazing. I laid under a truck last night in one match with my AK and was getting head shot after head shot. I don't think I could match the other guys strengh and guns if I went toe to toe with them, but I was always in the top two in kills. I want to play some team capture mission, but nobody ever plays that one.

Can I add you guys to my friends list without being in a match with you?

Yeah, I was doing the same thing... but I started really getting addicted to the single player, and finally beat it. I'm probably going to play a second time through, and I never do that either.

That'd be Python. He is pretty easy to get, just beat him by stamina depletion.

I don't think so, just wait until we have another CAG MGPO Night, then hit START and you can add us all.

I got the UDP Port thing working for myself here's what I did:

ve been having the same problems as everyone else with the UDP Port situation. You changed your ports to UDP 5730-5733 but you're still not able to host a game, right? Do this, this is what worked for me:

1) Go the PSP Home Menu > Network Settings (Scroll all the way to the LEFT and then DOWN)
2) Infrastructure Mode > Select a Connection (I assume that you already have one setup) and press TRIANGLE to open up the Options.
3) Test Connection
4) Look at the results and find the IP ADDRESS NUMBER. For example it might look something like this: 191.148.2.2 < This is the IP Address directly to the PSP. This is where most of my (and probably your) problems occurred. Write this number down.
5) Go to your ROUTER SETTINGS , usually you get here by typing the above IP number into the Address Bar on your internet browser.

6) Under the part where you change your UDP Port numbers in your Router Settings. Enter in UDP range 5730-5739 and when you have to enter the Private IP enter in the PSP's IP Address!

This should now make it work.

The problem I had, like many of you I assume, was that I was using the wrong last digit in the Private IP after I entered in the correct UDP ports. Before I was entering in "1xx.xx.xxx.2.1" when the PSP IP shows after a Test Connection that the proper IP ends with a "2" digit. By entering in the correct PSP IP number and opening the correct UDP ports you should now be able to host a game!

This is what worked for me, hopefully it will for you!
Is this game fun without the online? Don't have wifi, so it's a single player experience for me.
Anyone?

Apparently the single player must suck if no one plays it.

Single player is very good IMO. A little different than other MGS games since you have to recruit people, but I really enjoyed it.

are you kidding? I am having more fun with the single player than the multi, though the multi adds longevity and random fun to the title :)

I just don't want to get it if the single player is half ass and the multi is where it's at ;)

Besides from recruiting people, is it still like classic MGS action?

Don't get me wrong, the single player is outstanding. I was just first more interested in the multiplayer, I mean come on... online MGS!

And yes, it's a bit like MGS3... although the individual missions are somewhat short since it's a portable game. But even though each mission is short, they still give you a bunch of side missions to take part in, and recruiting soldiers adds to the length as well.

Single player is done in missions. Where you have to get to some place on the map and than maybe another place and the mission ends. You can only save inbetween missions and the controls feel weird after being so used to the dual shock controller. I'm still fairly early in the game, going to the habour. So if I'm wrong, feel free to correct me.

I would say so, but in small doses since it's broken into levels rather than area to area... it never feels like it makes you rush making it great for portable gaming.
