Good luck with 200 or less buddy..gonna wait until PS4 is out?
Shit, I've already seen ads asking $500-550 (or less) for a PS3 premium on craigslist (often with games and accessories), probably similar on eBay.
I know I saw one just a couple of days ago in LA games n toys section, with a used Premium PS3 and either 2 or 3 games, plus extra controller and maybe the memory card trasnfer thingy or a charge kit or something, and they were asking $500 for the whole thing.
So even if it was 2 crappy games (can't remember which ones), with an extra controller and who knows what else, you are looking at paying $170 plus tax or more, let's just say that's $150 worth of stuff.
So the $500 can really be viewed as $350 for the system. And you didn't even pay the tax, which in L.A. at 8.25% is another $50 on that $600 PS3. So $500 for $800+ retail. Give it a year or two and I'm sure you will see used PS3's for $250 or even sub $200.
On a side note, I'm just really happy with the price I paid, $0, extra controller, $0. Plus I've been picking up games for cheap via craigslist...paid $25 tops for each of 3 games (Resistance, Marvel UA, and Motorstorm). Finally set the system up last night, and to be honest, I was pretty damn disappointed with Resistance. I'm not very far in the game, but I guess I was just expecting a LOT more visually. Maybe the online videos I've seen of the latest PC shooters or X360 has just spoiled me, but so far I'd say it's pretty bland both eyecandy-wise, story-wise and gameplay-wise.
I have a really nice Sony high def TV, max is 720p/1080i, I have it running on the official Sony component cables, and I set the PS3 to go to the max resolution of 1080i. I see the game is listed at max 720p, should I set the system to 720p instead of 1080i?
Hopefully Marvel UA will be a lot more visually appealing, as I saw the video comparing Wii/360/PS3 versions and the PS3 was clearly nicer. Not that visuals/resolution is all that important, but the way Sony and some people carry on about them religiously and how amazing the PS3 is visually, I expect it to be just a notch below freaking realistic quality 3-D holograms!
