MLB 2010 Discussion Thread
Calm down, bro. The first one was definitely not bullshit. If they thought there was interference at all, they would have reviewed it. They are extremely review happy in the playoffs. And obviously, they got the call right on the second one.
Jeffrey Mayer.

And reaching over the wall and slapping at the dudes glove is interference.
Annnnnd...AJ Burnett has officially shown up. What a loser.
The best part about this is that Joe pampers him by not having Posada catch. What has AJ done this year to justify being babied like this? Plenty of his awful starts...there were so many of them...came without Posada. So, why not just stick Jorge behind there and tell AJ to fucking man up? The offense has been so freaking awful in this series. You shouldn't put a guy in there who's a singles hitter, especially not against a right-handed pitcher, where Posada would get 2 or 3 at-bats to take a cheap shot at the right field porch.

It's because all Yankees players get babied, sorry buddy. Oh Yankee fans, you see that fat guy try to get into his glove in case he would've caught it? I want the World Series to be Rangers vs. Giants so the east coast can suck it.
...so, we get rid of wildcpac...and he gets replaced with this? Wonderful...
Oh come on, I know you miss his constant use of "Roid Sox." ;)

Yeah, I kinda thought that Ph33r guy was replacing wildcpac with how much shit he talks, but this guy is making a case for himself as well. What's up with Giants fans? I've never seen so much arrogance from people who haven't won shit yet.

Oh, the memories! I'm pretty sure he's working for MLB Network now, what with his awesome analysis.

Steve Berthiaume posted this and titled it "Pride of the Yankees." Probably the only thing that is going to make me feel good tonight. Tommy Hunter is giving the game away.

This is pretty funny.

I can only imagine the headlines if the shoe was on the other foot, though. "In addition to throwing snowballs at Santa Claus and puking on people, Philadelphians now child-abusers" or some shit like that.

Don't forget throwing batteries and cheering people getting carted off in stretchers!!!
Great play by Andrus. Turned the entire inning around.
Really, it's too bad Swisher couldn't have moved those runners over with nobody out. Instead, he swings for a 3 run homer. Go figure.

Well, there's karma for you. If you think that the Cano homerun was tainted, you just had some dumb Yankee fans not get out of the way for Gardner. I'm sure Hamilton will hit a bomb now...

EDIT: Whew...

Whew is right. What a fucking idiot! It looked like he didn't see Gardner coming, but how could you not think the fielder might try to catch that? Hope that guy doesn't have to ride the train home.

I want a panda hat.

I still have hope for the Phillies. Blanton tomorrow doesn't fill me with too much hope, but there's still some inside me. I just wish they would remember how hitting goes. But if the Phillies have taught me anything, it's that it's not over until the 27th out in the final game.

For Blanton, my dad and I were talking about that earlier. The smart move is to pitch Blanton tomorrow against Bumgarder and have your 3 studs on maybe not quite full rest, but having more than they would.

The better move however would be to pitch Halladay in game 4, and maybe throw Blanton in game 5 against Lincecum. Since Lincecum isn't easy to beat, having that as a throwaway game and then try to beat Cain / Sanchez instead which is 'easier'. The only problem is, with this plan, if you lost game 4, you'd basically be fucked.

On a side note, that "Phuck the Phillies" picture is awesome. Combine that with my current msn title of "Beat the Bastards" which is a new song by Accept, it fits together quite nicely I believe.

There are no throwaway games in the postseason. We got 3 off of Lincecum last time, 9 times out of 10 scoring 3 on a night that Halladay pitches will get you the win. Charlie has it right.

I still feel fine about the series. We are definitely in one of our customary power-outage funks right now, but that can all turn around in one inning. We win tomorrow and we take home-field advantage right back.

I agree with Jimbo. Plus Lincecum has that blister problem so the Phillies might be at an advantage compared to when they faced off in Game 1.
shocker we can have the world series that wasn't meant to be.

well on a lighter note....we have K-Rod back........yay?????
Take what you can get, I suppose.

*Bumgarner.

The Giants have beat Halladay twice this season, just sayin'.

Have to say watching the Yanks get pounded is a good way to wash the taste of the Braves' loss out of my mouth. :D

Phillies going down would totally get rid of it, and give the most watchable series in years, assuming the Rangers don't choke.

The thing is, the Yankees have the tools to come back and win the series. They just have to do everything they've been incapable of up to this point. Starting pitchers have to dominate. Sabathia and Hughes need to just shut Texas down, just to have a chance to give Pettitte another showdown with Lee. And if they want a chance at doing ANYTHING against Lee, the bats need to wake up.

I would say this is going to be even harder with Teixeira out, but he hasn't done jack shit anyway, so maybe removing an automatic out from the #3 spot will help things. Either way though, outside of one inning and Robinson Cano, Texas has completely owned them. With Sabathia on the mound tonight in their own house, if they can't pull out a win, they might as well not even show up.

I hate to be negative, but you said it yourself: they have to do things they haven't done all series. I mean, Texas was handing them that game last in the middle innings. The Yankees should have put them away early. They simply cannot get a big hit, and this Texas lineup simply cannot be held down for an entire game. Honestly, their lineup scares me like the Yankee lineup is suppose to scare them...like no matter what they're gonna score.

I was gonna make a comment about them leaving Burnett out there too long, seeing as he was tightrope walking most of the night, but frankly, would it have mattered? The Rangers have molested the Yankee middle relief in the last couple of games.
Absolute fucking bullshit. If they give them two fucking home runs off bullshit calls I am going to flip the fuck out.
Well the first call was questionable, but I honestly don't think he'd have made the play regardless. The second one I reviewed by stepping through frame by frame and could clearly see it was in front of the pole. Love this new DVR lol, because I knew it was a foul ball before anyone on the field did.
Really, it's too bad Swisher couldn't have moved those runners over with nobody out. Definitely true. My point was basically if the Yankees plan on doing anything, they need to act like it's a different series starting tonight. They've got their ace going, so if they can't win with him on the mound, then they need to seriously consider moving some of those pieces this offseason. You'd think a 2-1 deficit would light a fire under their asses, but maybe 3-1 will do the trick. I don't expect it, but seeing some fight out of them would at least be nice.

He hit close to .300 this year in a down year for hitting. He's not a #2 hitter...but he's not garbage either. And he's certainly better than what they traded for him (Wilson Betemit). The Yankees just don't really stress fundamentals...always looking for the 3 run homer. It's games like last night that actually make me miss Johnny Damon. He really excelled in those kinds of situations.
