MLB 2010 Discussion Thread
Sad day today.... Mets got killed.
eh, it was a bad game. Dickey didnt look comfy out there and Nieve and Iggy regressed a bit and gave up the rest of the runs. Hey at least Bay got a home run.

Well heres hope the mets can recover the series and Tak can at least keep us in the game.
Strasburg should use some of that signing money to pay the Nats to get someone who can hit for him.
Ryan Zimmerman and Adam Dunn can hit. Although you can't blame the Nats tonight. Hudson's a pretty good pitcher. Now, if they struggled like this against Kawakami, then yeah. Seriously, he's fucking worthless. Not sure if he has a win yet this year.

Yeah, the Nats can hit, but they don't for Strasburg is my point. I can't knock the Nats I got Zimmerman, Willingham and Desmond on my fantasy team.

I gotcha now. Kind of like KC and Grienke (who I have for my fantasy team :bomb: ).

And out of curiosity, I checked Google. Oddly enough, Kawakami actually got his first win of the season this past Saturday. Worthless I say. Just got moved to the bullpen as well. If we're lucky, we'll never see him for the rest of the season.

Yukine, how do you deal with Aaron Heilman? He is beyond awful.

Joel Zumaya threw his arm out in a freak accident. Looks like he broke or tore something.

The sad thing is besides Demel who just got called up, he is our most dependable arm in the bullpen... he got promoted to be our closer because Qualls has been so awful... I think his ERA is in the 9s?

Mets with another kick their fans in the balls performance. I wouldn't worry too much about the Yankees. Sox are going to be a game behind but the Rays are falling down to Earth.

Mets trailed 6-4 in the top of the 9th to tie the game only to blow it in the bottom of the 9th.

Yeah, it was a heart breaker.
I am not worried about the yankees making it but the mets are doubtful.

Anyway, go NY!

meh, we lost today but happy the Mets battled back. Its clear that Tak belongs in the penn. He is finally figured out and pretty much got owned today. I would have walked uggla so there is a force at every base but they felt like they could K him....oh well whatever. Its just another series where the Mets can't win on the road.

We are definitely going to need a front line starter soon. I dont know who i would give up but we need either Oswalt or Lee to stay in the thick of things because with Santana's struggles on and off the mound . The Mets signed Micheal Barret to a minor league deal and the Mariners just designated their catcher so i think something will go down soon in the next week..and Josh Thole has been pretty good so far but i still dont think it will add up to what the Twins have.

Hey all. Looking through the thread I've noticed a few Mets fans! I'm determined to not let my Phillie fan-ness get in the way!

Quick discussion of a few games though. Brad Lidge is starting to worry me again. He's been pretty good this year, but that was an atrocious turn tonight. 3 straight hits with 2 outs culminating in a 3 run homer? Yikes.

It's always tough to losee a game the way the Mets did. Still ahead of Philly in the standings though, you still have that going for you.

Quick update on Zumaya: Fractured right elbow. Saw him go down, it's frightening stuff

hey man no worries. Jimbo Slice and ikhon4ever(have no idea where he went) are big philly fans also. AS long as you dont vomit on me Im cool with philly fans. ;)

its not going good for them right now. both polanco and utley hit the DL....its like a version of the mets. It seems like they can never get healthy to actually compete...and they still have a good squad.

Yeah, the Utley injury really worries me. Thumb injuries can be a real hindrance if the is rushed back too quickly, but with the Phils right in the middle of the division fray, they can't afford to have his production out for too long. Fortunate Rollins just got back, otherwise the infield would be full of back ups! (And Howard)

I try to avoid vomiting on people. I consider it to be one of my more important skills, but I can't make any promises :D

Phillies fan have been in quite a form this year. Getting tased, vomiting on police officers, it's ridiculous even by Philly standards.

He finally got his first the other day. But he's in the bullpen now that Jurrjens is off the DL.

Which I said right after that post.

Baseball games at 12:35 when you have off that day is awesome.

The infield injuries (and injuries in general with this squad) are a concern, but I'm hoping that we are getting them out of the way early and we'll have our full squad in September and beyond. Hopefully :)

Dane Sardinha just hit a 3 run bomb as I was typing this. With 3 run shots from Schneider and Valdez last night, at least we have good back-ups!

Yeah, it's amazing that even with 3 regulars injured and Rollins just returning, the biggest question mark is still the bullpen.

I wish Cole Hamels would play like he did in the '08 postseason but he's never been able to put it together since then.

aw great another possible bullpen blow up.....K-Rod potentially blowing another game. Hope that doesnt happen. please do not get swept.

Edit: whoo...that was a nail biter. K-Rod came through at the end. Whoo that was a close and it was a good game.

1 more out.

Edit: And he gets the save. Your not used to this yet with K-Rod on the mound?

Good win for the Mets and a horrible loss for the Marlins. How the fuck do you only score 5 runs in a game where you get 17 HITS!!!!
Another great game by the rangers
Yeah, it was nice for them to bounce back after the tough loss last night. Vlad is fucking tearing up his old team. I love it.

Very good night for him.

ESPN just showed the highlights of the Cubs/Reds game. The umpires messed up twice in extra innings to cost the Cubs. The first was in the top of the 10th. The Cubs were going for a 4-6-3 double play and they got the out at second... but Jay Bruce tries to take out the shortstop and slides into him, killing the DP. But he slid so far away from second, it should have been an interference call. The rule is something like he has to be able to touch the base or show intention of sliding to that base.... He was nowhere near second! Anyway, the Reds scored. Bottom of the inning, Cubs hit into a DP, except the hitter actually beat the throw to first..... Yeah...

mets fans, how do you do it? How many walkoff loses is that this year? Another kick in the balls to the Mets. Yankees had 16/17 walkoff wins last year and the Mets are trying to have 16/17 walkoff loses this year.

Dbacks fire GM Josh Byrnes and manager A.J. Hinch.

Not surprised at all, Hinch being made a manager was just fucking dumb. Kirk Gibson named interim manager.

Well the bullpen sucked in Arizona. You can blame that on Byrnes. Especially when Valverde is going to be an all star this year in Detroit.

Yeah, I would say the worst bullpen in baseball.

I was not happy about the Valverde trade when it happened. Neither was I happy about trading Carlos Quentin. Not to mention the Eric Byrnes contract.

You're right, fuck him.

It's funny how far the Backs have fallen. AL West Champions in 2007 to last place. Even the 2008 team started off hot 20-8 in April and faded to 82-80 for the season.

Running into a hot Rockies team really messed things up for the Backs in 2007. You guys had to be rooting for the Padres to back in that year.

Tell me about it... we still have a good core of young players, but our bullpen is atrocious and our starting pitching hasn't been that great.

Rumor has it that Byrnes refused to fire Hinch and so both were canned.

I wish King George still had his marbles so that this piece of shit idiot manager can get fired after the game. What a moron!

Ooooo and Joe, take Cashman with you because you both suck!
Just be glad you don't have Ned Colletti as your GM or Lou Piniella as your manager.
Yeah this! How far have the Cubs fallen from grace. They are an utter mess.

Wild, Your team is still in 1st and will probably remain there. AJ pitched great today too. So hopefully he gets off the snide and starts to win consistently.

ugh! Not looking forward to Strasburg tomorrow. Going to be a very long day tomorrow for the Mets.

Yankees have lost ooooooo about 5 games this year due to manager stupidity. 5 too many in my book.

Gardner with a Grand Slam and the Yankees with an 8 spot in the 3rd inning. UNREAL. Yankees scored 8 runs in the first 4 games combined against the Jays.

Dear God, thank you for not making me a Mets Fan. I would have broken my TV 100000 times this year.

How do you Mets fans do it? Seriously how? 10 walkoff loses so far this year in the first half of the season. That pretty much comes out to 1 out of very 4 road games ends in a walkoff loss. That doesn't even include the games where K Rod left the tying runners in scoring position. Wow!

K-Rod blew a good game by Dickey. Seriously, how does he go from being a dominant closer a few years ago to pathetic? Blowing a 3 run lead to the Nats? This is a team who hasn't been scoring much lately.

You really need to ask about the Mets bullpen? 10 walkoff loses this year in 40 road games isn't enough?

Mets have 24 road loses so far this year. 10 of them in the last at bat. That is around 40 percent. Unreal!

Pretty cool of the Dodgers to play a minor league team tonight, fucking ridiculous.

It sure makes me appreciate the sure-handedness of Stephen Drew and Adam LaRoche. And it blows my mind that no one noticed the walk on 3 balls.

It amazes me, since he did so well in the AL. Now he's getting his balls busted in the NL. Crazy

Nothing like playing the O's to get the Sox some good at bats. The All Star Break can't get here soon enough. Hopefully no bad breaks in between for the Sox.

I'm happy and upset that the Reds are leading the Central. Happy that they are there, but upset at the same time. I really wanted Dusty gone, but this, assuming no fuck ups, will likely give him another year or so. And that's the last thing I want to see in Cincy, Dusty getting extended.

i dont know i pretty used to it. John Franco was a better and more dominant closer than K-Rod is. Disgusting game yesterday as Dickey outpitched Strasburg.

This is getting ridiculous. Can we have one time where we do not get a closer thats over the hill...please just once!

Robbie Thompson better find his ass fired after Today's game and on the unemployment line. 2 runners thrown out in back to back at bats at home plate due to his stupidity. Two runners thrown out at home with Arod and Cano due up in the lineup. What a fucking moron!
