MLB 2010 Discussion Thread

And to think my dad laughed at me when I said the road team would win every game in that series after game 2.

Also...Brooks...has left me speechless. I'll say this though. If the Giants do win this series, they may as well win it in game 4. That way, the Giants will have the best chance in theory to beat the Phils.

Mad props to Dirty Sanchez.

That was an amazing pitching performance.

Oh btw, LOL at Hinske....next time make sure the game is over before you start celebrating like it's Game 7 of the WS.

I'm glad Hinske wasn't the hero tonight, I have this unexplainable hate for him.

I noticed a lot of the braves celebrate on plays like they think they just won the world series.

Here's hoping Cliff Lee throws 120 pitches and beats the Rays on Tuesday. Nothing would please me more than for the Rangers to advance and for him to be worn out! :D
Nice win Giants, Sanchez seems to get better every season.
As much as I hate Sabean (and want him fired, still do).

Gotta give him credit for keeping Sanchez around, when people were clamoring for him to be traded for Jorge fuckin' Cantu.

The game should go to extras too so the bullpen gets worn out as well. Either way, the Yankees should be set up for the ALCS, as neither Price nor Lee will be pitching the first game. I hope it won't be a case of "be careful what you wish for" but I'd want the Yanks to face the Rangers.

I dont think that would made up for signing Aaron Rowand, Mark DeRosa, and Renteria.

Don't forget Zito.

The only thing that will make up for those signings is winning a World Series.

That one is more on the ownership at the time. However he does get the blame for trading Liriano

The Rays could be ok without price in Game 1. Matt Garza could handle a game one start.

As for the Rangers. I don't think they have anyone who can pitch likeLlee.
Sigh, this is starting to look more and more like a Yanks vs Phils WS. How boring. :\
Amen to that. Doesn't help it's the two teams I hate most in baseball either. If it comes down to that, I'd rather it be the Yankees who win, but would rather have neither.

Agreed. Going into the playoffs, I wanted Tampa if the Yankees did advance. Even though they have the speed to exploit Posada and some of the slow deliveries on the staff, potentially facing Lee 3 times just scares the shit out of me. But now that Lee is going to end up being pushed back in the rotation if they advance, I would probably much rather face Texas, as well. Yeah, they swept the Yankees in September, but let's face it, they were pretty much mailing it in during the whole month.

Could the announcers be any more bias for the Braves?

TBS = The Braves Station.

I think I've seen one Giants highlight the whole series.

C.J. Wilson has been outstanding all season long. Aside from walking too many people he has been all that anyone could ask. He probably is about as good a number two as there is.

You do know who broadcasted Braves games for 30 years, right?

By the way, some lady is wearing an obnoxiously large red hat with some ornaments on it in the first row to the right of the batters. What would possess you to obstruct the view of the people around you like that?

I guess he doesn't realize it. TBS is Ted Turner's station and he owned the Braves at one point. So, yeah, there would be some biased with the Braves playing basically on their hometown station.

Yes, I am in fact, aware that the Braves are owned by Ted Turner.

Who owns Turner broadcasting.

Who is showing the Giants/Braves series.

I'd wager $500 that Dick Stockton is wearing a Braves jersey.

Except Ted Turner doesn't own the Braves or Turner Broadcasting anymore. You're obviously not as aware as you thought.

Fun Fact: Moylan came on in the 7th, I began a drinking game for how bad he may do. Around this time, the vikings / jets game started and told my dad he should take a drink for every time the old man gets sacked.

That was one hideous hat.

I hate any commentators that aren't my usual guys and just rent-a-nnouncers because they always talk about the dumbest shit, sometimes not even pertaining to the game at hand.

All I heard the entire time during the Braves/Giants series was:
Pitch count
Pitch count pitch count???
PITCH COUNT!!! PITCH... COUNT...!!!!
pitch count.

Quoting myself because holy damn did I call that one! haha. Lee threw exactly 120 pitches. The only downside is that was enough to finish the game, so the Ranger bullpen will be well rested. Oh well. I feel like the Yanks match up better with Texas anyway. Just hope the extra rest doesn't hurt them.

I really, really hope Texas can finally overcome the Yanks given their history. Pretty surprising how this is a first for the Ranger franchise to advance in the post season, especially considering having Nolan Ryan all those years both as a pitcher and owner.
I wouldn't mind seeing a Giants/Yankees WS from a historical perspective. I don't really care though, as long as the Giants win.
As long as it's not the Phillies, fine by me.

Nolan Ryan has owned the team less than three months. When he was a pitcher it was at the tail end of his career. Most of the time he was there the team was horrible.
I want to see the Rangers and Phillies in the World Series.

Really I just want to see Game 1 of the WS be Cliff Lee vs Roy Halladay.
This.

Go Phils!
I'd love to see CC get knocked around and the BP get used up tonight.
CC got WORKED and that was such a lucky break for Posada getting that third out. Unless this was just a hiccup for Saby, I see him getting pulled in the 3rd and the BP having to mop up the rest.
I'd love to see CC get knocked around and the BP get used up tonight.
Looks like it might happen.

OH YEAH!!! 5-0 Rangers!!! Keep it up!

Fail. I have to question Ron Washington with all these pitching changes because his bullpen is looking like garbage right now. Each guy is coming on for one fucking pitch and it's always a base hit. I can't stand seeing Yankees win because the other team chokes, so the game is going off.

I turned off this game when it was 5-0 to catch up on some tv and now it's 6-5. I thought the Rangers had this one locked up, guess nothing is solid when you're playing the Yankees.
