Sure, they have a few wins in LA, but the last one was in 1988, 22 years ago
Los Angeles Dodgers World Series Championships > 0.
San Francisco Giants World Series Championships = 0.

Does anything else count? :whee:
So, earlier in the thread, someone pointed out how the Giants fans have no class when there were two 10 year olds who had signs that said "Phuck the Phillies" and I'm pretty sure they were Yankees fans, just wondering how you feel about your fan base after hearing about them spitting on, throwing beer at, and yelling stuff at Cliff Lee's wife?

Also Dodgers fans are pretty funny, they get to the park in the 3rd and leave in the 7th no matter what game, Dodgers as an organization have one more championship than the Giants in their entire history, though all of the Giants wins were when they were in New York. Sure, they have a few wins in LA, but the last one was in 1988, 22 years ago, completely worthless to this generation of baseball fans, anyone under the age of pretty much 30 who is a dodger fan probably doesn't even remember it. I'm glad the Dodger fans are happy about their future, but it's going to be fun watching them crash and burn for the next several years.

Anyways, Go Giants, still the underdogs and right where they want to be. I'm going with Giants in 7, I want a great World Series.
why would it be worthless to this generation of dodger fans? Heck i am still proud of the 1969 Miracle Mets and i didnt even exist for another 13 years. I cant even remember the 86 world series too much because i was only 4 and I liked the mets because my dad bought me the hat. I didnt really feel it till much much later and watching the games on DVD that I could be proud of how great they were. I can be proud of my team's history and the players it has generated through its years of success. I am dam proud of our 2 world series victories even if i wasnt born or cognitively able at the time. I am sure enough the die hard pirates fans are still proud of their series victories no matter what era it was in.

im not choosing winners in the series but its going to be very compelling to see how Washington counters Bochy's pitching moves.

The bigger point to me is fans getting arrogant before they have any right to do so. Same thing happened with Rays fans a few years ago. You'd have people who didn't even acknowledge the team the year before puffing out their chests and talking shit all over the place. For that matter, I really don't remember there being THIS many Giants fans in this thread before the All-Star Break of this year. It just seems when the team starts winning, all the douchebags come out of the woodwork to make sure everyone is aware the team is winning. Where were you guys when they were getting their asses kicked? You haven't won anything yet.

I notice this in other sports as well. Especially after the 2002 Super Bowl, I swear Patriot fans tripled in my area.

Anyways, I never been able to root for my team in the World Series as the have never made it (Seattle). However, I always tend to root for the underdog or a team not from the AL West, so I'll be going for the Giants.

Although its strange that I was born and live in Georgia, but I'm not a fan of any team here.

Well, if you look at my reg date, I didn't join the site 'til August and wasn't aware of it 'til I started looking at the other forums besides the deals and trade forum. I've been a Giants fan since I was a little kid, been going to games since I was 9. I've supported them good and bad, I was still behind them after a TERRIBLE August. Sure, there are fair weather fans, but you have to understand from a loyal fans point of view, Giants have been decent since 2003, this is the first year we've made it this far since the Bonds/steroid era. There are a lot of arrogant fans, but that works with EVERY team.

I'm pretty sure no one has said we've won anything yet? We're just excited we're in the Series, no one has said OH WE GOT THIS, there were predictions, like mine in 7, but it's a prediction which also gives respect to the Rangers. I've only followed this thread for a few weeks, maybe skipped over some posts, but what's different about people talking about the Giants winning games, then lets say, when Phillies, Yankees, Rangers fans were happy and expressed it? The Giants have A LOT of fans, if I remember correctly, they're one of the most popular Baseball teams, since they have east coast connections and everything. There's also a thing that seems popular with Giants fans, everybody left them for dead, people said they'd win against the Braves, but get swept or lose in 5 against the Phillies, so they go over the top in rubbing it in Phillies fans faces.

I can understand your annoyance at the random people coming out of the woodwork, there's this couple I know, that are all of a sudden huge Giants fanatics, like they try to talk to me about the Giants, but don't know anything about the team prior to this year, and even this year, they're terrible at names. (Aaron Rowland, Mike Wilson(they called Brian Wilson that). It's annoying, but I ignore it.

In other news, I think the Yankees fans might've hurt their chances at getting Cliff Lee on their team because of what happened, though Cliff Lee and CC Sabathia are really good friends.

That's what happens to any sports team that wins, Lakers win, fans triple, or celebs suddenly love basketball and goto games. Saints became popular outside of New Orleans for the first time in probably forever. Growing up in California, I could swear I've never seen any Saints merch, now everytime I go in public there's a jersey, jacket, hat or whatever. Yankees are the same thing, Don't see anything when they don't win the series, then out of no where when they win, they're all over the place. There's a lot of people who became fans of winners and will change their teams and show no dedication and don't understand the pain of having a losing team. I know it all too well with being a Sacramento Kings fan, 49ers fan, Tampa Bay Lightning fan, and up until the last two years, and 7 years before that, a Giants fan. I don't know how Cubs fans or ANY Cleveland sports fan can do it, I'm not sure if their teams will ever win a major championship again.

There's nothing worse than fairweather fans. I started my job about 5 years ago and I've been a Phillies fan most of my life. Baseball is the only sport I follow and my one co-worker would make fun of me for liking baseball and not football or hockey. He said he hates baseball and it's boring to watch and it's not exciting, etc. But of course now he just LOOOOOOOOOVES the Phillies. And my boss calls Ryan Howard Ron Howard and the late Harry Kalas Harry Kalaster. Phuck 'em.

You should tell your boss that Ryan Howard is not Opie from the Andy Griffith show, didn't direct Willow, Backdraft or a ton of mother movies.

Lee already said he won't let what a few assholes did influence his decision. Speaking of which, how about you don't generalize what a few people did as an entire fan base? I know plenty of Yankee fans who aren't assholes like what the rest of the country thinks. I'm pretty sure that in every stadium, in a crowd of 40-50 thousand people (or 12 thousand in the case of the Rays lol), there are bound to be a few jerks.

This is funny.

Been in these threads before you even signed up here.

Oh and in case you forgot, the Giants are in the World Series.

Don't know if the threads have been going back since before he got here.

But I will admit, you've been sucking off the Giants for many seasons.

Yeah, and if you ever posted anything that related to general baseball happenings and not just how much Timmy owned somebody, I might give you some credit. Also, when the Giants hit their rough patch in the middle of the summer, you were nowhere to be seen. Then they start winning again, and we get LOL pictures and trash talk. You're right. You're not at all like wildcpac.

EDIT - To give myself a laugh, I looked up the exact dates. ph33r didn't post in the thread at all in June. Then went on a shit talking rampage in mid July. Then didn't post again until 9/6 with posts of "Juan Uribe is a god!" and "Giants in 1st!" Here's hoping the Giants lose just so he doesn't post again until next April.

Dude needs to wash his hair, seriously. fucking disgusting.

Run, fat boy, ruuuuuuuuuuuuun! Lol, Molina trots to home out of breath.

Shit, Lee lost his release point. I knew something was up soon as he hit a guy.

Intense inning though; keeps things interesting.

Sad the better pitcher just didn't have his good stuff tonight. I hate lopsided games like this since there's no tension. Oh well, better luck tomorrow.
Love seeing an NL West team get to Cliff Lee when no other team has been able to.
Lol, if he were actually up there 'pitching' it would still be a 2-0 game. Nobody got to him; Lee beat himself.

Lulz at the whiny rangers fan
Lulz at the whiny rangers fan
I don't think it is being whiny, but I can see how it came off that way. Lee couldn't locate his breaking ball or his fastball tonight. He was missing high and inside all night long.

Lol, my team isn't even in the WS, so if all you watch baseball for is to see your team win then go for it. I watch for the competition TBH.

Embarrassing loss. Lincecum was on the ropes there for a bit, but Ranger hitters started getting too impatient. Couple of bad plays and mental errors just killed any chance of a major rally. At least putting a few on the scoreboard in the 9th made things look a bit better. Either way, the loss to the Yankees in game one of the ALCS was more of a kick in the sack than this loss. I've got full confidence in Texas coming back tomorrow and playing better baseball.

Looks like Cliff Lee is human after all.
Where were you during the regular season Z? Did it take the Giants getting to the WS to show your spirit? ;)
Remember those fairweather fans I was talking about earlier? Yup.

I was really looking forward to a great pitching matchup and I was left disappointed. Hopefully Wilson and Cain can have a better duel.
Well, the "GREAT PITCHING MATCHUP" ended up being an 11-7 win for the Giants. Three more to go.
Yeah, what a disaster on both sides. It became a "WHO CAN HIT MORE MISTAKES" match than anything.

I really hope the Giants will go up 2-0 today, which would at the very least force a game 6 if something bad happens in Texas. However, according to the weather forecast, it's supposed to rain tonight so here's to hoping we don't get a rain delay.
Hey tcrash, please kiss my whole asshole. I'm a die-hard Giants fan.
Hey, I call it like I see it. Your first post in here was on October 10th, after the playoffs started. Where were you the rest of the season?

I don't think whether one posts in an MLB thread on a gaming forum has much bearing on whether they're a serious fan or not.

Could be a big fan but not care about posting in threads unless there's a big reason to post like his team being in the playoffs etc.

I don't post a lot about my teams either as sports threads (and sports forums in particular) are pretty unbearable as it's just a bunch of shit talking and homerism (if it's a team specific site).

It's cool, not really trying to piss anyone off, I was just coming off a post about hating fairweather fans that come out of the woodwork when their team is good and not knowing anything about or not liking them when they're not so good. Some people express their loyalty a lot and others don't unless they're in a power position. But when someone hasn't posted in an MLB thread the past 3 years it made me wonder. I don't want any bad blood though, good for your Giants.

What happened to Superman Cliff? Texas almost came back at the end. I think we will see a game 7 so Cliff has 2 more chances to pitch.

Well, that's true if the person rarely posts. But if they develop a pattern of posting during winning streaks to make sure everyone knows how bad ass their team is, then disappears when things get rough....well, that's a little different (definitely not talking about zewone. I don't know that I've seen him post in this thread more than 5 times total). Also, you can be a serious fan and still be a douche, lol. Just sayin ;)

we had one here not so long ago. i think you guys remember the name.
Lowe, Halladay, Hamels, Oswalt, Lee
Yup, good thing those pitchers beat themselves and the Giants hitters had nothing to do with it.

Maybe it's because people have shit to do like have sex and get drunk, then post random shit on an MLB thread.
