MLB 2K11 CAG League Baseball - Season 2! We Made It! Playoffs! Rd 1 Due by 10/12!

It appears this league will have to be deleted and a new one created. Despite the fact that the website shows "Season: 1", I haven't seen any way to reset the schedule. I've also tried looking at some other leagues, and many of them show the same status as ours (ie. "finished"). And I haven't seen any leagues that are beyond "Season: 1". If anybody knows more about this, feel free to let me know.

So you can only run one at a time, eh? (Since you said you'd have to delete the first) I'm ready to go whenever everyone else is.

I messaged Logg (one of the guys who originally signed up, but then didn't post in the thread again) and he said he'd like to play, but that he works 40+ hours a week. I told him that as long as people have a way to get in touch with him and that he can do one game a week, he'd be fine. It didn't seem like we had anybody else to take the spot, so I gave it to him.

On that note, I sent out invites to everyone this evening. The league is just "CAGLB 2" and if it asks you for a password, it's "cag". I was a little worried at first, thinking that the only option for online leagues was to use the default roster or do a fantasy draft. The reason I thought this was because when I went to choose my team, it loaded the default rosters and showed me those players (ie. players who were no longer with that team, hurt, etc).

But I remembered a couple of the players that were injured in our first season (Zack Greinke, Domonic Brown) and checked the default roster and they were available. So, for whatever reason, the game shows you a very unhelpful default roster when you choose your team, even though that won't be the roster you play with. Make sense?

I wanted to switch to an NL team to keep the divisions balanced (since I know how to set divisions now), but there are so many injuries to top players like Buster Posey, Freddy Sanchez, Albert Pujols, Adam Wainright, etc, that I couldn't see myself having fun with those teams. So, I went with Texas. If any of the AL teams want to be classified as being in the "NL", let me know. Otherwise, I'm fine with moving myself there. If we have two divisions, the top two teams from each should make the playoffs, giving us a similar format to the pre-wild card MLB days. Should be fun though.

I work that much, is getting games with me hard? :)

Well, hopefully he'll be able to participate. I finally got him added to my XBL friends list, so he's got an invite now. Hopefully one game a week won't be too much. I don't know too many other people who have this game, so I just wanted to get this thing going again before people start losing interest.

Ok, it looks like we're just waiting on Logg to join the league. Really hope he gets in soon. I'd like to get this thing going again.
I just picked up the game tonight. I'll join if you can't fill the last spot.
I sent him another PM earlier tonight. So, I'll give him a day or so to respond/join. If he doesn't, you can have the spot. Just out of curiosity, which team would you want?

All right, I feel like it's been plenty long enough. Logg still hasn't joined the league and hasn't responded to my PM's. I get working 40+ hours a week, but having a general interest in something should motivate you at least a little bit.

Anyway, I'm sending out the invitation to pitfallharry now. Once he joins, I'll create the divisions and we can finally get started. I don't know what was up with my counting before, but if pitfallharry joins as the Reds, we'll actually have 5 NL teams, so somebody will have to be moved to the AL. We could go old school and move the Brewers since they at least have a history there. I don't think it will affect anything with DH rules. It would just be placing them in that division to keep things even. Or, for that matter, we could just forgo divisions and just have one big group again. What would you guys prefer?

Whatever works. If the Brewers don't want to switch leagues and if we even go that route, I could switch leagues. Just want to get this going.

All right, the schedule has been generated and games are ready to be played. Let's shoot for everybody having one game played by Monday 7/11. The biggest advantage I could think of to having one large division is that the teams with the best four records would make the playoffs, and we wouldn't run into an issue of the #3 team in one division being better than the #2 team in the other division. So, I'm fine with having one if everyone else is.

What about posting our pitching rotations? Necessary or no? I do want to remind everyone that each starter should pitch no more than 2 games. And remember, the HOME team should press start to go into the lineup screen so nobody gets screwed into locking their lineup in by mistake. Other than that, I think we're good to go. If anyone has any trade offers, feel free to post them in the thread.

Good luck to everybody!

I think posting your starters schedule is a good idea.

I should be on at some point tonight, but I'm not totally sure when (most likely after 10 PM EST). If not tonight, I can definitely get a game in tomorrow.

Oh, also, did anybody else notice that there seems to be basically no injuries this time around? I see a few guys who are hurt, but they all have the green cross next to them (which I'm pretty sure means you can still use them). Last time, I think only the guys with the red cross were unavailable. If so, that's pretty ironic considering a couple of us switched teams due to all the injuries. Oh well, at least there will be new teams/players to keep things interesting.

About to go to bed for tonight, but anybody up for a game against the Braves either Friday after 6pm or anytime Sunday? Not sure how late I'll be willing to go tomorrow since I have to have wake up at 6 for work, but anytime Sunday in theory should work.

I'd be up for Sunday. As for putting my rotation, I don't even know who I have available lol so I guess Ill post my rotation after I play my first game.

Mine should look about the same as last season. 5th starteer might change but probably not. Halladay, Lee, Hamels and Oswalt will be my first 4. 5th will be either Kendrick or Blanton, haven't really looked at the rosters for the new season.

Just finished a great game with pitfallharry. I was ahead 5-1, but he rallied to 5-4. I tacked on one more and brought in Feliz to close it out in the 9th, throwing 103mph GAS!!! It was ridiculous hearing how hard Napoli's glove was popping from it, haha. Crazy game. 23 hits total, 5 home runs (with both of us hitting back to back jacks), 2 triples, and pitchers falling apart at a moment's notice (though CJ Wilson did manage to get through 6 innings somehow). Good game, pitfallharry!

Nate and I just had a good game. Rangers 6, Reds 4. He was up 5-1 going into the 8th. I had a sac fly from Votto and solo HRs from Gomes and Bruce to make it 5-4, but that was as close as I got.

I'm trying to adjust to pitching/hitting with the stick. I wasn't sure if I could switch it to buttons, or if the game would even allow it.

Well, I think everybody in the league uses the analog pitching/hitting. At one point we had a discussion about the fairness of allowing some people to use buttons if the rest were using analog. My personal opinion is that using the buttons might make it a little easier to paint corners (since you'd only have to rely on the pitching meter vs. having to do the actual motion) and to time your swings.

Adjusting to the analog controls was harder before the patch though since there was a different timing for offline and online games. At least now, the timing is virtually identical, so you can practice offline and get a better feel for it.

Eh, I think I'll be fine with a little more practice. I think this was the first time I used the analog controls for a full 9 innings, and I was doing a lot better towards the end of the game. Batting isn't really a big problem for me. I just need to get used to the pitching gestures.

Just as a reminder, there's an achievement for playing the All-Star game which is only obtainable from today until wednesday. It doesn't always unlock apparently, but some report (and I can confirm as I had to do the same) that if you switch to a 3 inning game, it will unlock that way upon completion of the game.

As far as scheduling goes, unavailable tonight and tomorrow, but aside from Wednesday and Friday until about 3pm, I am available any time this week. Would like to get a little ahead if possible too maybe since I'm unsure what next week will bring. I just know 4 of my days are closing shifts and it's a brand new store opening so could be late nights.

Got off to a good start, beating the DarkTower's Phillies 10-2. Managed to jump on Cliff Lee for five quick runs, and got lucky on defense.

Just reminding everybody that today is the last day you can get the "All Star Game" achievement. The funny thing is, even though I've played at least 10 MLB Today games, I could never get that achievement to pop. I didn't even know you could play less than 9 innings for those games, but taking JStryke's advice, I just did a 3 inning ASG. After completing it, I got both achievements. Pretty funny to get them at the same time.

I REALLY hate the buggy achievements in this game I slould be close to 1000/1000 already if some didn't bug on me.

Just finished a game with Matt Young. Unfortunately, Matt ran into the Texas buzzsaw as Ian Kinsler deposited the first pitch of the game into the seats behind left-centerfield. The Rangers put up four more runs in the inning, to give starting pitcher Alexi Ogando an early 5 run cushion. The runs just kept coming as the Texas big bats wouldn't let up, and found themselves winning by a score of 17-2. Surprisingly, only two home runs were hit. But Ian Kinsler went 5-6 and Mike Napoli went 4-6.

For whatever reason, I just can't hit with Adrian Beltre though. And therefore, I'm putting him on the trading block. If anybody wants him, feel free to make me an offer. I'm looking for 3B, OF, or SP.

Well, it took a couple extra days (which I kind of expected it would since we had about a month off), but everybody got their first game played! Good job with that, everyone. Looks like a lot of crazy games right out of the gate. A few teams putting up some really big numbers. Definitely going to be a wild ride to the playoffs!

Nate beat me worse than anyone ever has in any game. I got Nate-raped. He put up insane numbers across the board. I'll spare you the link to a WWE related item, but if you want to look up Ezekiel Jackson's theme song on YouTube... that tells the story.

Thankfully (ha!), the Facebook app finally worked right and posted the score of this game to my page after never doing so for season 1. Now this... This says it all:

EDIT: As far as it taking a couple extra days, I've still had computer problems so I haven't been on the board as much. Last I heard, Nate was having his doubts about Logg. Then theredworm asked about playing, and that was when I found out we were active. I can give people alternate ways to contact me if anyone thinks it would help.

I know I somehow connected mlb2k11 to my twitter and when I play it tweets about me getting achievements that I haven't got. Haven't figured out how to have it tweet my league scores.

Brewers vs Rays was a crazy game.

Rays get up 2-0 by the 3rd inning, Brewers tie it up in the 6th. It got a bit crazy in the 7th with the Rays putting up a run then the Brewers putting up 4 runs. Rays came back to tie it up the next inning.

Rays scored a run in the top of the 9th putting the pressure on the crew. Braun hits his second homer of the game in the bottom of the 9th to keep the Crew alive.

Bottom of the 10th runner on and Mark Kotsay pinch hits for John Axford......

I have had 2K basketball league scores posted before. There was a Facebook post stating I got the achievement for winning ROY in My Player, which I haven't come close to doing yet.

Guys, I'm sorry to say that it looks like I'm going to have to drop out. To make a strange story short, my dog and cat were fighting over some bacon and crashed into my 360. It tipped over, and now my 2K11 disc is fucked. There is a big ring scratch around it. I had a local video store run it through a resurfacer today, but I'm still getting the dirty disc error. I really don't have the cash to go replace it right now after I just dropped $60 on NCAA Football 12. My lesson has been learned and now my Xbox is horizontal.

I had fun in the one game I did get to play. I hope this doesn't throw you guys and the league off too much. Once again, I'm sorry.

After Nate's responses to my crazy-but-true stories, I can't wait to see what he says about this.

Anyway, I'm posting my rotation so I can keep track of who I've used and how many times.

Mark Buehrle- 1
Jake Peavy
John Danks
Gavin Floyd
Edwin Jackson

I may switch around Danks and Floyd.

Wow, that sucks. Well, unless we find a replacement for you, the only real option we have is giving everybody who plays you a free win. The only problem there is that three teams play you twice, so it would give them an extra win as opposed to everybody else. But if we split those series, it would give them a loss that may not have happened otherwise. I'm open to ideas on what people think the most fair option is (provided we can't find a replacement, I mean).

As for posting rotations, I don't know how much it matters since the games are played all out of order anyway. I guess if you actually know which game on the schedule you're about to play and who should technically be pitching that game, that's fine. But really, just making sure each starter pitches no more than two games is the big thing. Don't want to complicate it too much.
