Modern Warfare 3 Discussion Thread - Out 11/8/11. New Multiplayer Trailer!

I played the hell out of MW2 but try as i might i can not seem to like this game. I think the maps are terrible, like someone else said just big squares, the spawning is the worst tp date, and the fucking bullet lag is rage inducing. I live in the country so i can only get dsl and the lag makes it unbearable. There are no firefights, i have to sneak up and kill them every single time. If they see me i am dead 90% of the time. The weapons, perks, and kill streaks are stupid. I think there are enough guns in the world that we shouldn't be using the same ones for MW2. I think we have all seen enough of the UMP. I do admit i like the support streaks but thats because they are the only ones i can get. I had a K/D over 1.5 in MW2 and in this shit fest i can barely get .7. Why can't they have dedicated servers? I will assume i am not the only person trying to play this game online using dsl. MW2 was one of my favorite games ever but i am thinking of selling this piece of shit already.
 
Summit = Outpost, look at the ending screen of Summit and look at the ending screen of Outpost, it's like they forgot to switch the jpeg.

People are really really over-exaggerating with the building thing. It's ONE building from a multiplayer map in COD4.

Yes over exagerating but its the same game for the most part. Multiplayer is the same! No new modes, no new graphics, no new experience overall. The changes they made are minimal and not enough to warrant $60. Campaign is ok but with so many other games out there to compete with, this game does not stand up with them. (UC3 and BF3 to name 2)

Actually, the Battlefield franchise doesn't come out with a new game every year with rehashed everything, nor does Uncharted. There's new everything in Battlefield 3 from the maps to the guns to the squad perks to the gadgets and even some vehicles.

I guess Gears 3 is more of the same too right? Lamest response ever.

Ok, BC2 was a year and a half ago, so slightly over a year. Don't think EA won't make BF a yearly series if they're able to.

And of course Gears 3 is more of the same. If you played Gears before you know exactly what to expect going into Gears 3. They may have added and refined some things, but it's still more of the same. As is Uncharted. You're doing the same thing in a different setting.

I'm not saying more of the same is bad, but attacking one franchise for doing it while loving others that do it is pretty hypocritical.

EDIT: And don't forget, even though CoD games come out every year, they're not made in a year.

Has anyone gotten any of that Elite stuff to work yet? The download from PSN for double XP? Any of the Founder stuff from the Hardened Edition?
 
I haven't and from what I've seen so far, its a leaning toward a total fail in my opinion, hate to mention a competitor but BF Battlelog.com while not as fancy did work pretty seemlessly.. I would have thought COD: Elite would not be as problematic as it seems to be ..

couldnt have said better myself. I have a very good k/d and great win ratio, but I dont know it doesnt feel like a modern warfare game. It seems like the best strategy in this game is to just run around and get behind the other team. All the maps are so small, and built for running with smgs. I dont want the campfest that is bf3, just something in between like the first two. Spawning is Treyarch bad.
 
I hope they fix some things with a patch because multiplayer is rough.. It seems like you're playing hardcore on just regular domination or TDM.. one shot and your dead

That is the problem with this game and the others. This game really represents two years worth of work? This whole game is simply DLC and they would have been better off presenting it that way. I am having a hard time finding anything I like about this game which pains me to say. I love Modern Warfare 2 and I would honestly rather play that right now. They still have a chance to fix things through patches etc. but based on past history they won't. They got our $60 plus an extra $50 already from most of us so they don't give a shit.
 
I still don't understand why people are bitching so much. If you're posting on an internet forum, theres a 99% chance that you read up on the game before it came out. Saw gameplay videos, watched previews, etc. You KNEW it was more of the same. Yet you still went out and bought it, now you're bitching about it. It's like a small child being told "If you touch the hot stove its going to burn you". Then you go and touch it anyways, then start crying that you got burned. Then you'll wait a year and go touch the damn stove again, then bitch and moan AGAIN.

Absolutely not, i love it and all my cousins who have been playing since COD4 and up are loving it. It is extremely fun. Keep in mind it is the top selling game of this generation, so of course there are lots of people who are going to hate on it for the sake of hating on it.

I'm still really enjoying this game. Only thing that's pissing me off is the fact that matchmaking sucks when you're in a party. My party and I waited for a half hour last night before finally finding a game. Not cool.
 
I am starting to enjoy this game a lot more. For some reason Ground War is where I don't seem to get so pissed off playing. Team Deathmatch is unplayable with the damn spawns and Demolition sucks too. I figured out I have to play this game somewhere between the way I played MW2 and Black Ops. If anyone sees me on go ahead and send me a friend request or invite. I am on a lot at night mostly after 9pm Central time.

activision HOWEVER has already declared that a new COD will be around 2012

EDIT: codmw5 will have a 3 hour campaign.
EDIT2: assassins creed releases every year now yet gets better improvements than cod

And I say good for them for being able to constantly put out a top seller every year. Until something else comes out which I'm sure BF3 put a little dent there they will keep doing it.

Just because they didn't announce it, doesn't mean it's not coming.

Uncharted has been an every other year game, just like Modern Warfare/The Treyarch series.

And how do you know Revelations will have better improvements? Have you played it?

EDIT: And how much could they improve with CoD? It's already arguably the best online FPS. Pretty much every FPS since COD4 came out has tried to copy it, but I have yet to see one that has been successful in being anywhere near as good. CoD is just flat out ahead of it's competition.

If you want to take that stance, here's what we received. Every piece of video footage was 480P or less covered of actual in game footage. You can't judge a game on low quality videos and previews. In fact nobody mentioned it looked like Black Ops 2.0. Not a single one. In fact many people were lead to believe this was going to build above and beyond the MW2 engine, they're allowed to be disappointed and it's not bitching.
 
Had some amazing matches tonight. Ground war is so awesome for support class. Using the recon drone and got it twice in one game, had 32 assists at the end of the match! Unfortunate that hardline pro doesnt count them, or else it'd be so broken.
 
I'm fine with more of Mw2 with the exception of the following: The same bullshit spotty hit detection, the constant air support raping entire teams, the lag, shitty maps, shitty spawn system, the same guns, the same perks.

As it stands now we have all of those in this game, with the exception of air support only raping teams about half as much than in MW2.

I guess it's my fault for giving these professional programmers and developers the benefit of the doubt that they wouldn't include all the same bullshit that was never fixed from what? COD4? World at War?

If they're gonna have pretty much the same perks again, at least give me fucking scavenger and sleight of hand in two different slots like they used to be. It's like they meant for people who don't use scavenger to have to inevitably switch to their side arm once they run out of ammo for their primary, that is of course if you don't end up dying from an enemy that spawns behind you. Or maybe they meant for the spawns to be so shitty and the maps to be so small so you never really ran out of ammo cuz you end up respawning from getting killed after you kill someone. Kill die respawn Kill die respawn Kill die respawn Kill die respawn.
 
What is with the connections in this game? Such bad lag. I'm trying to play Survival, but for the past 6 or 7 games, I'm getting paired up with someone seemingly from the other side of the world. It lags for probably 3-5 minutes and then boots us both. It's extremely frustrating.
 
Been playing the campaign, and I kinda agree what my friend just said: "There's something about FPS playable heroes with European accents. It gives the game this classy edge."

I guess that's what makes MW unique over something like BLops.

We haven't set up the CAG clan formally yet and most of us don't rock the CAG tag. I for one consider the CAG tag bad luck and play much better with my usual tag [RtC]. Aside from that, when we do all rock it, people flee from the match before it even begins.

The patch worked great and then it took a shit later on in the night, all these kids and their lag switches are annoying.
 
I'm in a clan from another forum. The thing that sucks is that I'm the only American member. The rest are from the UK, so I'm often stuck with a shitty connection. We're called ReVo, short for revolution. Original, I know. We used to be eVo, but we wanted a four letter tag. We're competitive, but we mostly play for fun. The best part about our clan is the teamwork. We help each other out, as opposed to play for ourselves. No quickscoping try hard bullshit either.

i posted this over in the 360 forums, figured id post it here as well.

i was having a major problem with spotty hit detection and 'lag" (where the killcam doesnt show me fire when i fired half a clip, or when i make it around a corner, and the kill cam shows me die before i get to cover) just like i do in black ops. my brother told me i should disable theater recording in the options because he read it made it better (i dont know if he read that on here or somewhere else) but i tried it, and it made it a lot better. so for people having that problem, id recommend turning off the theater recording, if you dont care about saving clips
 
^That usually has to do with your connection, not anything else.

I'm experiencing HUGE lag spikes even when I have a 3 bar connection. It's unbearable. They always seem to happen during a gunfight too.
 
Turning off the recording was one of the first things i did. There are times where the game freezes up and goes back to the game in a way thats so severe it borders on psychadelic. Its only happened 3 times so far tho in the 10 hours ive played. Id also like to mention that in the 10 hours played, ran into *1* person with a modded controller, which i promptly reported via in game menu.

Overall, i am just having such a blast with this game. Love the specialist class, although 90% of the time i get kill #7 for all perks and die 2 seconds later. Happened countless times so far.

Ground war + Recon Drone is insane, i get 1000+ points every time i bust it out, its really awesome.

I'm not going to fight over a CAG clan tag. If such a thing did happen, collectively I think the guys from the MW2 side would still end up putting something together. Besides, we need Elite to work to set up the Clan.

There is considerable lagging going on and if that's the case, it couldn't hurt.

At 4 bars myself and several others have lagged terribly, I wish the game would monitor lag in game and switch the host mid session accordingly. There's no reason for lag switchers to be around and yet they are by the grace of not being able to tell who the host is compared to previous COD installments.
 
I'd love to play Survival with you guys, so long as the connection is good. I still couldn't get into a game last night. Multiplayer works fine. It's just Survival.

Whats really going on is the clan situation is not settled. Those of us displaced from MW2 have our general grouping but with Elite setting up it'll make playing together considerably easier than sending out invites to only those on the friends list. So whats going on now is the MW2/Black Ops guys have people on their list and any new comers aren't on it just yet. Socially speaking the Clan will make things easier overall.

Nobody really asks to play with me much(one or two peeps), I have to hound people to play and that's the reality of the situation. For those loosely out of the loop, Elite will give you the group experience without having to find that magic person with everybody on their friends list. I have to trim down my FL some because of some clutter as is and I'm not pushing to be the organizer of this Clan right now because it is a lot of work.
 
And for those b!tching about this (which I have not played yet) go back and try the original MW if you want some pain. I only put it in last night because I had about 30 minutes to kill and have not opened my MW3 yet. Yikes....still horrible lag and talk about dropping connections & not switching hosts. To top it off I found out that I never really played it much multiplayer...i was like level 3. So my lack of map knowledge and underpowered guns made it "fun". I remembered why with a 2-bar you don't knife and was left wondering how you can have 6 hits markers on a person and not drop them.

I'll be on this in ~10 days.
 
Just noticed I can set up a group in Elite, I think I'll create the CAG group.

Edit: It won't let me create a group, go figure.

I would be okay with trying to run the clan, no job for me equals plenty of time. Of course elite needs to work for that happen, or maybe im dumb? Either way i couldn't figure out how to make a group or a clan. Also definitely looking for some people to play with, im tired of playing with randoms. So send me a friend request if you want someone else to play with. Also Mad i wasnt ignoring your invites i honestly just didnt see them. If you want to add my brother he is on a lot and another person who will play.

Collectively the MW2 CAG clan loosely ran on it's own through internal competition, ie; Nubbles vs Snake, the four way competition between Hito, Fred, Seuss and myself, Monkey vs everybody else, etc... To put it plainly, we don't know how to function without that internal competition. If you can organize new people then I'd say we'd be more able to make appearances but it's not like we're ready to be reliable people just yet.

I could also be putting my foot in my mouth by speaking for other people but it's the general feeling I've gotten, with Hito being the person I most game with currently. I know Cyrus is doing his leaderboard grinding, Nokill flirts in and out of WoW, Fred and Seuss are nowhere to be found, Kaiser has yet to pick this up and evilwon is doing life related things. If you're going to organize, do it without us as a goal... we're the icing now, not the whole cake any more.
