ModNation Racers -- General Info and Discussion

I haven't touched this game since Friday. Has it gotten any less buggier? Or is it still pretty buggy? When I played the game was buggy and it would freeze a lot, so I just ragequit and never went back to it.

The games not really buggy, it's just that takes ages to get a race going (if you're lucky), and it constantly signs you out, with the option to sign back in never working. If you can get into a race though, it seems to run fine. All of the create options work fine as well.

Seems like its just a problem of poor servers or netcode at the moment, not the game being buggy.

How do you guys take screenshots of the mod while you're in the creation station?

I tried entering about 10 of the codes 11 seconds after they updated them on Facebook and none of them worked. :bomb:

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone has an extra code.

i couldnt get one to work either and alot of people have left comments on sonys facebook saying the sae thing except for one. makes me wonder. if someone does have an extra code id appreciae it but as is i dont see myself getting to try this game anytime soon.
 
Just lucked out with the beta. Someone is sending me a beta code.

The code doesn't work for me at the moment because of all the codes I tried entering earlier.

So I have just started playing this and I tried a quick race to see the ghosts. I don't get how they do quick starts at all. I think the game is fun overall though. Just like Mario Kart and I have always enjoyed Mario Kart.
 
I haven been playing this every now and then, but the netcode really needs work. It keeps dropping me in and out. This usually occurs in the morning and late at night, but the afternoons seem fairly stable. Plus, I'm annoyed that I am unable to join some of my friends at their modspots because that feature is unavailable. So one of us has to quit the game altogether and hope we get in the same modspot. Other than that, the racing and creations are pretty solid. It really is great, just hope the feedback from community makes this game shine.

they do server maintenance daily, so i have hope they will work it out. if anything, they can ask naughty dog for netcode tips ;)

I think it's just a connection problem. I was able to join a lobby one day (got booted) and I haven't been able to quick race since.
 
the game is ok but it takes a long time to get a game going or to do much of anything. creating things seems to be the best part of the experience imo do you all think it will always be this slow to load?

I ended up spending a lot of time modding my racer and kart because it was obsessively fun. Then I did a time trial and nearly hurled.

Good: modding Bad: motion sickness inducing

Will try this out again to see if it was a fluke puke, or just too many tight turns. Never had a prob with Burnout on PS2, but the Gran Turismo demo sadly makes me ill too.

could be the colors or how close the racer you use is to the screen. havent figured out if you can change views on it or not yet but i wish you could move the cart foward some away from the screen. finally got the hang of the drifting in the game its not too bad but could still use tweaks. i also hope youll be able to configure the controls how you want so that way i can put everything up on the shoulder buttons.
 
Now that you mention it, the close distance does seem to magnify the movements. I was also crashing into too many hittable objects strewn about so that didn't help the perspective. It'd be great if you could place the racer much further away.

We should submit a CAG-wide feedback form to the developers of this game, 'cause I feel exactly the same way.

I got to try this game today. It does look fun and all but I think the driving control is a bit sluggish, may need some improvement. This game would be a great party, fun game to enjoy with others around you regardless.
 
So I decided to play one more time today and if I couldn't race I was going to delete it, but it was actually open! :D I like it, the carts have a nice weight to them. I just wish the camera could be brought up a bit. I feel like I'm breaking my neck while I watch for some reason.

its definelty going to need some fine tuining. theyve done some great stuff with the creation side of things but the racing controls/options themselves need work.

For anyone that has played it recently, in the last week or so.

Has the server issues and netcode improve? Was it easy and quick to get a game?

Played it at CES... level creation is pretty sweet and the racing is alright. Once everything is fine tuned it should be a good game
 
Tried the beta again recently and there's a slight improvement in the netcode but the loading times are still horrendous. The frame rate when you're in a custom level is horrible.

This was going to be a definitive buy for me but after all the issues, I don't think it's going to be on my radar of purchases.
 
wow sounds like this game isn't living up to it's potential... was going to get this when it came out but looks like, unless they improve things, I'll buy this when it's cheap.
