Get some recharable Nihm with a quick charger. Can buy them anywhere for about $20 for 4 aa's and a quick charger, and there's a thread in the deals forum for a charger and a ton of batteries for cheap.
Can you link to the thread? A cursory search didn't turn it up.
You can plug the classic controller into the wiimote? So it works wireless kind of?
Yes, it just plugs in like the Nunchuk.

Thank you, I wasn't aware that we could do that. This makes me want to toss my cube controller and get one of these.

I don't think you'll regret getting the VC controller. I've been loving mine. It's got a great feel to it.

I'm a noob to the VC as I haven't really had time to play with my Wii. Anyway, is Nintendo updating any of these games with better graphics or online play like MS did with XBLA?

No, not yet. I wouldn't want graphical updates, but online multiplayer would be nice.
Street Fighter 2: The World Warriors just got rated T by the ESRB. It's coming.
which version?
which version?
The first one. You know. The one where you couldn't play with the bosses.

Boo! Why can't they release Turbo? :(

Then again.. Why even release the console version when they could do the arcade one instead?

I really hope that VC isn't always just emulated old systems.

I feel the novelty is going to wear off unless games are given extras like score boards and online play.

SF2? I'll just dust off the cartridge, or one of my Collections discs.
Turbo: Hyper Fighting would have been the better choice, I played that one to death.

The problem with a lot of arcade ports is that they were great back in the day, because accurate arcade emulation wasn't possible at home unless you had a Neo Geo AES. Sure, playing the SNES version of SFII was a nice alternative to driving to the arcade, but who wouldn't play the arcade version if they had a cabinet at home?

Now that arcade emulation is possible on home consoles, there's really no reason to go back to the inferior console ports.

Yet, someone else pointed out (in this thread maybe?) that while the XBLA gets the superior arcade version of many games (Street Fighter, etc.) they also get the inferior arcade versions of other games (Contra, etc.).

So, I guess there's pros and cons to both situations. Ideal would be the ability to choose which version you wanted to get all on one system. But I guess I don't see that happening.

The only game I've bought was Mario 64 ($10 is still worth that masterpiece in my opinion). I can't justify spending that much money for any of these other sub-par games that I already own (i never got rid of my old systems).

Nope. Don't expect that to change, either.

Anybody try using a PayPal Virtual Debit Card to buy points? I have money in my PayPal account I would like to use to buy points with, but would like to hear if anyone else has had success before I try using one of the virtual cards. Thanks.

If you guys want your fix of NES games on the Wii, pick up Animal Crossing... I know you can get ...

Balloon Fight
Baseball
Clu Clu Land
Clu Clu Land D
Donkey Kong
DK Jr MATH
DK Jr
DK 3
Excitebike
Golf
Pinball
Punchout
Soccer
Tennis
Wario's Woods

You can get these using codes you can find on the internet or 8 of them by just playing the game. You can also get SMB, Mario Brothers, Ice Climbers, and Legend of Zelda if you have an Action Replay. I know a lot of these are on the VC and they are charging $5 a pop for them. Animal Crossing can be found for $19.99 new (or cheaper used) and you can get atleast 15 NES games that way. Sure is a lot cheaper :)

IGN and GameSpot both have good things to say about Ice Hockey 20 years later (7.1 and 7 respectively), and the screenshots are making my fingers twitch. Might have to pick up some Wii points soon.
I never played F-Zero on the SNES, so I bought it. What a f'ing great game.
You know, my Dad must've rented that game at least 10x for my brother and I back in the day....man did I hate it. I don't know why, but I thought it was sooooooooo boring when I was like 8. Stunt Racer FX, Secret of Mana, and this were the games I think we ever rented multiple multiple times. Maybe that Ninja Turtle fighting game too. Man I loved that game.

Speaking of Turtles, we need Turtles in Time on the VC.

All VC games work with the GC controller. The CC is only for those who prefer the more traditional button layout (for instance, for SNES games).

Someone needs to sticky the shit out of that, because it's a very common question.

Hagane: The Final Conflict - SNES
Uniracers / Unirally - SNES
Tin Star - SNES
Aerofighters Assault - Nintendo 64

New games just ratred. I'm probably going to be picking up Hagane: The Final Conflict. I hear it's pretty decent.

Sadly I wouldn't expect much in the way of high quality VC titles till after the holidays. January and February are looking primed for some AAA downloads.

I've heard of Aerofighters and Uniracers, but that's about all. Apparently:

http://www.meanmachinesmag.co.uk/wii/news/24/esrb-list-updated-more-vc-games.php

They say that "Nintendo/Hudson are releasing stuff like Hagane, which is a real forgotten gem of the SNES era and is quite rare now. It plays like a tripped-out version of Strider crossed with Contra and contains loads and loads of robotic ninja action! Who could ask for more..."

Personally, the more games that come out on the VC, the less it appears that Nintendo is placing faith in it's tried and true franchises. They actually seem to be going after hardcore gamers with games that people probably haven't played before. More simply, it appears that they aren't completely buying into the the idea that nostalgia alone will drive sales.

Thanks for that link, ahmed!

Tin Star is evidently a Super Scope title, which could be fun (?) with the wiimote (assuming it can be used w/ VC titles).

I'll buy Hagane; it looks beautiful for an SNES game, and its hinted at progenitors (Ninja Gaiden and Strider) make it a certain purchase.

Nevertheless, underwhelming doesn't begin to describe this list of games. It's neat to see they're going after niche gamers here, but they ought not paint themselves into a corner so quickly.

Perhaps they're going to testmarket these kinds of titles and see how they sell relative to "Mario" popular games? This way they could easily identify if all Wii owners are privvy to buying VC titles, or just the "hardcore gamers."

Hah, Strell. Will mysteries never cease? :applause:

In all honesty, I'm not really that interested in the old school 'classics', except maybe Super Mario RPG and Super Metroid. Everything else, I've beaten countless times. I'm really looking forward to the amazing games that I may have overlooked in the past. Case in point: Gunstar Heroes, and now what seems to be Hagane. If I haven't played it, it's still new to me. ^_^

~ahmed!~
Hagane looks pretty badass. I'll get it when it comes out.
I second the buy, but thats WHEN it comes out, might take a couple of months fuckers, I want something good now...

Wow, Hagane is a shocker. I forgot about that game. It's pretty awesome.

This makes me more hopeful for Ninja Warriors...or whatever that side-scroller was where you play as ninja robots.

If it hurts do the free Wii Points deal in the games section (referal thingy) or wait for the Classic C with Wii-points card bundle.

We know Nintendo made some as giveaways for stores...

Mmmm. Basically you sign up for this true.com service, and then you get a 2000 point card in the mail. The catch is that you can call in to cancel the membership, meaning the card is free.

However, you have to call them to cancel it, which is something I hate doing. Also, Rig tried this, and he got nailed with a $50 month membership. He is charging it back on his credit card, but he them at basically the earliest moment he could, and they still ran his card.

There's a rather large thread about it.

Exactly. Consider it the same deal as all those pesky "FREE _____" threads, but without all the begging for referrals. If you're savvy, you'll know how to use it for free Wii points; if you aren't careful, these deals will bite you in the end.

Milton Friedman, folks. Milton fucking Friedman.
