MODS PLEASE LOCK - The Wii VC Games - Volume 1

So... since we're getting light gun games that HAVE to use the Wiimote otherwise their release is completely pointless, what are the chances of OoT being hacked to have TP's controls? :)

Yeah, I just checked wiki and it's not there. Where's the poster getting his info from?

My guess is the list is probably fake.
Well, actually I was refrencing him selling his N64. I figuredbeing the HUGE wrestling mark he is, he would have a soft spot for the greatest WWE game ever released.

I've already come to terms with No Mercy not being on the VC. Though I still THQ is full of boneheads for not doing an "extended" port over to the DS. How hard is it to take the No Mercy Engine, swapp in some new designs and call it a whole new game?
Well, I know AKI was working with EA for the "Def Jam" games, but they outsourced work on the third game to EA Chicago (?) instead. AKI is a free company now; that said, they could easily use the AKI engine for a portable WWE game on the DS; for some reason, though, they're going more uniplatform with the WWE games, and taking on the Yuke's SmackDown engine for all releases (while that greatly pleases Xbox owners, I'm going to miss the GC WWE games, which were *vastly* underrated, IMO).

I don't really think I need my N64 anymore. Glimpsing through the games I have but don't own on other systems (GC Zelda rereleases), I have Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, and Hybrid Heaven. I'm possibly the only person on earth hoping we see HH on the VC. I may be one of the few people who ever played HH on the N64 (it was dismally unpopular, if I remember).

http://www.esrb.org/ratings/search.jsp

Just list all Wii releases; some on that list (SFII, Pro Wrestling, Urban Champion, Kid Icarus, etc.) are rated and evidently ready to go, while others (Mario RPG, Super Metroid) are nowhere to be found.

Suffice it to say, I'm amazed Scorch would post such a list without double-checking it first. It's a fake.

And I'm not sure why Mario RPG isn't on the ESRB's list, as that was reported by IGN as being rated a number of weeks ago.

Any news on what's coming out today? Thank goodness for the vc games otherwise there wouldn't be much to play on the wii in the near future. I'm really looking forward to a lot of these older games. I didn't have a N64 so I'm hyped up for those games, hell I'm hyped for almost all of them. These will be burning a whole in my pocket for sure.

Wait for Super Tennis botticus.

It's a much better Tennis game. I'd have to bet that they'll be releasing that one at some point.
Tennis (NES)
Space Harrier II (Gen)
Military Madness (TG-16)
I think I'll get Military Madness. I'm pretty sure I already have the tennis game and Space Harrier games have never been my cup o' tea.

One thing I wish they did was after you bet a game once a message showed up on your Wii message thingy saying you bet (insert game here) on (insert difficulity here) and maybe continues too. For games with highscores, why not post a damn list to the message board. As we have it now, if you beat gunstar heroes on expert there is no way to prove to your friends you did it without them being there when you did it, which becomes annoying.

Or Wii Tennis. :D

I picked up Military Madness and it does seem to be a spiritual precursor to advance wars etc. Only played the first level (in the midst of writing a paper for Grad school) but it seemed like fun.

I know that I'll get $6 worth of play out of it.

i might pick it up, ill see what other people say about it to.

My recommendations:

Splatterhouse for the TG-16
Y's for the TG-16 (though it was for the TurboCD, so...)

Strider for Genesis

Bionic Commando

:)

For some reason I thought Super Mario Bros. was already available on the VC. I have to pay closer attention.

Still nothing that has me saying "Oooh! I have to have that!" I kind of want Solomon's Key because I remember having that way back in tha day and enjoying it (no guarantee I will now). I would love some of the old Konami sports titles like Blades of Steel and Double Dribble, which I wore into the ground.
I actually thought that was old news, and just no games were out yet for it. I remember the announcement a while back actually.
I want arcade games! A perfect arcade converstion of Crusin' USA would own!

I need Top Gun for the NES after talking about it today at work. Maybe I'll finally be able to re-fuel after all these years...

Or land on the fucking carrier.
Or land on the fucking carrier.
Word, that shit was nigh impossible! Granted, I was in elementary school, but I beat Mario 3 every frickin' day back then and taking a break with the brutally unforgiving Top Gun only forced me deeper into that rut.
Or land on the fucking carrier.
I got that down after a while, re-fueling was fucking impossible though.

I think I was good at refueling, but could never land.

we should all team up and beat the game.

I just picked up Military Madness tonight... it's alright. Breezed through the first two levels in what seemed like less than 15 minutes. I expect a steep climb in difficulty within a couple of levels.

It's fun but obviously rudimentary and severely limited compared to Advance Wars. Not essential unless you're trying to collect all TG-16 games.

Still holding out for Splatterhouse...
Are games going to be put out on Xmas?
Did you read any of this thread? Yes. Super Mario Bros, Toejam and Earl, and R-Type.

As much as I appreciate the weekly game releases, I am getting frustrated at the lack of great games. Mario 64 was worth the $10 for me. I even downloaded the original Zelda and Gunstar. Still, the majority of these games are utter crap. Only one N64 game before the new year is horrible. Can't they at least release Mario Kart 64 or Pilotwings? What about Donkey Kong Country or Castlevania? Seriously, what are they waiting for?

Oh my god, how could I have forgotten about Mario Kart?!?!? Mario Kart 64, Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart Double Dash, and eventually the Mario Kart Wii all on ONE console... there is a god

Wow, Super Street Fighter II is a surprise to me. Everyone buy it so they canhurry upand sell it to us again for $10 with online support in a year. :p

I'm tempted to go for Castlevania, but I haven't even opened Portrait of Ruin yet (Hell, I even got distracted away before beating Dawn of Sorrow).

p.s. Why isn't this thread stickied yet?

Well, if you haven't played Super Castlevania IV, it's one of the last of the old-style CV games (a relatively long game for a platformer of its time - meaning you could play through the whole game in an hour or so, IIRC).

It looked amazing (and was what sold me on the SNES), played great, and still plays well today. I'm fuckin' on it like neckbone.

Interesting...Metroidvania was nice at first, but I'd like to see Castlevania go back to level-based games at some point.

Same here... 6 Metroidvania games later and I'm getting kind of sick of them.

I agree with you, Blind and Roufuss. PoR is very fun, but the shit's just so derivative anymore. It really pushes the "same shit, different castle" feel to a new level.

I haven't played CVIV in years. This is the first VC game I'm really stoked about.

Truth be told, with all the talk about "Rondo of Blood" coming VC (all rumor and chit-chat, of course), I'd think we'd first see the diluted SNES version of that game, Dracula X, on VC first. I can't wait for Rondo of Blood to come out for some, or any, system: it's a damned fine game, but it sure hasn't held up over 14-15 years, and people are going to be somewhat let down by the hype it carries with it (like the original Castlevania Chronicles).

You don't recall correctly.

I wonder why Zelda + Sonic got bumps in the shop channel. They both show up as new releases for me. Perhaps they were updated in some way?
