From now until further notice all preplayed PS2,XBOX and GC titles are 3.99. From the Movie Gallery store I work at I picked up 2 copies of Mercenaries 2 and Guitar Hero 3.

Also if your Movie Gallery has a Game Zone all preplayed Wii, 360 and PS3 games are 25% off. Most of the next gen games that are preplayed in the Game Zone sections come as trade-ins so you can generally find good copies its just that the selection wont be as good as a Gamestop.

Edit by Io - For those with Hollywood Videos around note that this sale applies only to stores that DO NOT have Gamecrazy's attached. Also, it is still highly YMMV at any given store. Some don't participate (manager's discretion) and some are just clueless and think you are talking about the concurrent $3.99 movie deal (which requires 2 rentals and only applies to movies $12.99 and under). I've gone to about 6 stores and have gotten about 4 different versions of the deal. There is a code they can scan that makes all these games come out to $3.99 no matter whether you rent or not and no matter what the original prices are - it is just YMMV whether they can A) Find that code and B) Choose to apply it to the games you want to buy ;).

Stopped by today, only 6th gen game to get converted this week was Street Fighter's Alpha Anthology, which I bought the only copy of. Also picked up anther Xbox version of Fatal Frame, Test Drive: Eve of Destruction, and a Complete Halo 2. Not bad.

Yeah, I have no problems with Capa's business, but he does really push the whole better-than-the-average-flipper thing to the point of being rude to some people for "questioning" his TIVs or wanting clarification. Just because you're making bank flipping doesn't give you a license to be mean about it.

On a relevant note, my Hollywood Video has yet to convert anything from rentals at all. They've also gotten no shipments of games since over a week ago, so good luck to people.

I've been working the system since LOOOOOONG before I joined CAG, which at one time included no receipt returns from different EB Games stores to one another because that chain often had different prices between EACH store.

I made between $10-25 or MORE on each transaction and I easily supplemented my income doing this. Was it return fraud? I guess you COULD say it was, though I was not outright doing something fraudulent in my eyes, since I was returning a game from one store in the chain to a different store with different prices.

So, while Capa's posts are informative with the trade values, I've been doing this for a long, long, LOOONG time already and I really need NO help. Up until this Hollywood Video sale started, I was only flipping games(cash flips in many cases) from Circuit City or cheap Kmart games to Blockbuster. I was making a tidy enough sum in credit that allowed me to afford 2-3 new releases ON their release date.

That's all that matters to me anymore, since I'm not looking to get rich or 'cash out' from flipping.

Oh and for the record.....I'm 34 and have been doing this on and off since I was 18-19.

Ends as in Monday night or Tuesday at close? The damn store is supposed to be restocking Monday or Tuesday. I'm wondering if this is YMMV on the end date... seems odd for the manager to request a grip of games from another store when the promo was supposed to be ending, but maybe the promo ending was decided by corporate after he requested the games.

If the sale ending Monday or Tuesday IS true, that means I have to go cash the check I got from the local government for working the polls on Election Day tomorrow and go check my two closest stores to see if they got anything good(either converted or shipped in).

Then, I may check my local 3-5 Blockbuster stores and try to find some things to use up my last $60 in credit there on, mainly to flip to Gamestop though.
 
Wait, so what is this about getting 360 games for $4?

What do I have to do? Don't the games automatically ring up as $3.99 or do they have to put in a promo coupon? What is that promo coupon?

bro you got it all wrong. You should be thanking the OP because NO one would know about this deal if it wasn't from him. Everyone in this thread posting is a product of the OP. Its also quite easy to post BS and numbers for people like you to believe. Nothing new is being added just the same old games being posted just as conversions..

I'm still going to post what I find and learn to help people out, I'm still going to answer questions, and when more of you get banned from BB over time, you're going to be glad I posted about the things I've tried to get around it. Believe me i have nothing against anyone here except when people post numbers without showing proof (that could be done quite easily, can you imagine the lurkers too?). Keep posting about TIV's and experiences because its helpful to a lot of people. My motto is, if you don't have nothing useful to post than i don't post at all because a lot of stuff is garbage.

I hit up a store that had converted and sold (to someone else) last week's stuff (SW:FU, Lego Batman, etc) on Sunday before I got there. This week ALL they had on the list game-wise was Mercs 2 for 360 and Incredible Hulk for Wii... Very disappointing...

In any case, I bought a Starfox Assault there and paired that up with my very last leftover game (a Lego Batman) and traded those at GS with the 30% bonus Cellfire coupon. Got $24.50 for the pair and then picked up LBP for $38.49 (after using the other Cellfire coupon). Not a bad exchange there - throw in a Lego Batman I traded the other day and I ended up using 3 HWV games (which I bought for $12 in Gamecrazy credit) to get a mint LittleBigPlanet. Now I need a PS3!

I for one would like to see a picture of the stripper trading games in at BB.

BTW, I wouldn't trust a stripper with my trade-ins, value cards etc. Hopefully you know her very well and that she's trustworthy. I guess I'm just picturing you going into a strip club to recruit game traders. That would have to come off as the geekiest pick up line ever...."Hey girl, I like the way you dance....by the way, wanna earn some extra cash on the side flipping games for me."

Manager at the MG I just was in said that they always get 2or 3 days notice when a promo ends, and she's heard nothing. She did say that corporate sent out a memo stopping all ps2 trades, cuz people were buying the 3.99 and trading them right back in. so i dunno what to make of this

I would also expect HWV to at least ship some of the Portland, OR area stores some of the leftovers from their show at the Expo this weekend. I went back today hoping they had dropped prices, but they didn't. A HWV employee at the show stated that he thought it would end up on sale in the stores, when I asked him what he thought they would do with the unsold inventory.

Anyway, something to keep an eye on. There was good stuff left too. Just too high priced at the show. Example, today in the $20 section at the show, I counted (152) copies of Bioshock 360, yes...I said one hundred fifty two! On Friday I was able to pick up (4) at $5.00 each, at the same show...makes no sense why they would hold out for $20 on some, when they are sitting on that large of a quantity. Also, noticed about (20) copies of Mario Kart Double Dash, and about 20 or so of a lot of the GC Mario games. Problem is they were $20 at the Expo show. So, hopefully they do find their way to the stores for this $3.99 sale.

I did hit up a couple other HWV's today too, and amazingly still found good stuff -

I asked about conversions today and they only had 1 Wii game. I asked about Lego Batman and she said they had them last week. "Had".... I bought them. :)

At another store, one that was originally not honoring the deal, had the sale signs up this time. Same workers were there (bad experience last time) but all the Guitar Hero 3 games were still there and actually got GTA for PS2 greatest hits. Now GS can't say anything. Only bought like 6 games there. Nothing else really there.

Finally cashed in on some of my credit at GS. Bought a Wii to sell for cash and rockband 2 and lego indiana jones/kung fu panda bundle. My credit won't look suspicious anymore by having $600+ on it. I used the Cellfire coupon and brought the LIJ to $28 from $40. FYI, LIJ purchased separately goes for $45 still. For $5 less you get Kung Fu Panda. Pretty good deal. It's a fun game, surprisingly.
 
i just want to take a second to say thank you to everyone who posts stuff like this i usually lurk since i dont end up learning this stuff before its on here ive hit up some HWVs and scored around 300 from flipping 60 investment :D

I've only kept about 10 games, the rest have been flipped almost immediately after purchase. Im assuming most people do that.
 
got another store to do 3.99 anything. got a ds game and 6 next gen, I'll post how when I get home and can type

and the next gen r like trophy bucks, incredible hulk, just did ok on it
 
I usaulay check my store once a week, but havnet been able to make it in for 2 weeks(GRRR.) plus my internet was down so i didnt kow about the promo untill friday. Thanksfully I was able to pick up several great games. someone got there before me but thankfully i am the only CAG in my town so most of the good stuff was still there.
 
I've got a little time while I eat...I went to a MG in a podunk town, and they had NOTHING...the girl there was really sweet though, she asked what I wanted and started calling...she got ahold of a MG in another town about 45 mins away, and siad that they didn't have any, but that she would convert a Zelda TP, Merc2, and LBM...I figured if she was converting, I might be able to get a bunch. There is also a HWV in this town, so I went to the MG and got 8 games (maybe 9) that were rentals...she wouldn't convert about 12 more I wanted (including PIkmin 2)

At the HWV, I got them to do 3.99, I got a Castlevania DS game, SSBM wii, BFBC, trophy bucks, hulk, lego batman...and a Halo2 CE that they rang up as a Halo 3 ce, but it didnt matter....after it was done(it worked cuz they were scattered in with ps2 games), I figured what the hell and went back for more next gen, i found 5 more that i would have taken, but then they realized their mistake and wouldnt do it.
 
how did you get them to convert rentals, MY BBV is always up for converting rentals but my MG(which is about 90% games) wont ever convert.
 
huge ymmv. i always ask. 12 nos before this one. she did lbm and mercs2 but no on other new releases. old stuff had to have not been rented redently, pikmin2 had gone out 1x or i would have had it

Gotta love those covers...I talked to the manager of one of the local MG's friday and she said that whe will hook me up with all the original covers she has next saturday, how sweet is that? she is one of the best managers around she always goes the extra mile to get me preowned goodies.

You probably just got a new color printer and made up the covers yourself, then stuck them in cases that had HWV stickers on them. Even went to the trouble of printing alternative covers. Seems like a lot of work just to impress some message board lurkers. :lol:
I'm printing out a bunch of MVC2 covers to post tomorrow when I get home tonight.

These were actually from the Hollywood sale that they had at the Portland, OR Expo Center this weekend. Unfortunately, they weren't $3.99...I had to pay $10 each on those. I'll still do alright with them though, even paying $10.

Nope no joke. And actually I already traded 4 since Friday, had 16.
 
Capa, any news on a 'universal' conversion day type thing, or an approximation? I had 0 luck at 2 MGs I went to :( - but they had a TON of good games to rent

I think someone stole all the good rentals from my MG, they have zero copies of any game worth more than $30 on Ebay, they seem to dissapear.

Capa I'm sorry, i magically believe you now. I will believe ANY number you throw out to me. (quick question what is $100 to a flipper like yourself? it sure isn't a lot to me)
 
someone needs to take a bullet and see if u rent it and "lose" it, do u pay 3.99 or full used price

most older stuff is in puter at 14.99. if i remember, tomorrow i'll rent one and we'll see
