From now until further notice all preplayed PS2,XBOX and GC titles are 3.99. From the Movie Gallery store I work at I picked up 2 copies of Mercenaries 2 and Guitar Hero 3.

Also if your Movie Gallery has a Game Zone all preplayed Wii, 360 and PS3 games are 25% off. Most of the next gen games that are preplayed in the Game Zone sections come as trade-ins so you can generally find good copies its just that the selection wont be as good as a Gamestop.

Edit by Io - For those with Hollywood Videos around note that this sale applies only to stores that DO NOT have Gamecrazy's attached. Also, it is still highly YMMV at any given store. Some don't participate (manager's discretion) and some are just clueless and think you are talking about the concurrent $3.99 movie deal (which requires 2 rentals and only applies to movies $12.99 and under). I've gone to about 6 stores and have gotten about 4 different versions of the deal. There is a code they can scan that makes all these games come out to $3.99 no matter whether you rent or not and no matter what the original prices are - it is just YMMV whether they can A) Find that code and B) Choose to apply it to the games you want to buy ;).

Hmmm, I didn't even know there was this huge thing going on here. Too bad I'm too lazy to read what all the fighting and fussing is about. Maybe when I got out of work I'll see if I can find a HWV that's selling games. A few to keep and maybe a few to flip to Gamestop. Or did I just piss off everyone by saying that? My bad.

Anyway, what are the best titles that people are finding in the stores. And please tell me no one has wiped out the ones in my area!

The great thing is, this sale has no set final date, so when it finally does end, I can't wait to see how many people claim it's because of me. I don't brag about profits, I actually post TIVs, I post info from managers that no one else takes the time to ask or post, but 75% of you hate me because I make more than you. If that's not jealousy, what is it?

You may not have ruined HWV deal for everyone, but you probably ruined it for hundreds of people because you grabbed so many games, also you ripped off many stores by tricking them into giving you games that were not part of the deal again screwing people and potentially having those stores cancel the deal entirely, and you screwed the stores and managers.

I'm not jealous of you, I live nowhere near you. My deals have nothing to do with your deals. I don't have a problem with the money you made. I do have a problem with how you did it - screwing over csr's, managers, stores, etc. You know how they say a serial killer starts off by killing animals, well I'm sure a big time embezzler or extortionist starts off by doing the type of stuff you did.

I never called you names, I did not try to get in on any loophole or other stuff you mentioned, I do not goto the store and hassle the employees into giving me rental games, nor do I try and slip current gen games into the last gen pile, etc.

Really I don't see you posting the stuff you have because it is out of your goodwill. It really seems you posted, especially in the way you did it, merely to boost your ego and try to claim that you're king of the mountain.

When I first got banned from BB, everyone started asking me questions about how much I was trading and had made. I answered those questions, which got me labelled as a boaster and/or a liar. Now, if I post what I found, and the deals I got, and how I got them, some people whine that I'm bragging again, even though I go out of my way to put as much info as possible into the post to help others get the same deals. I've been pretty fortunate during this HWV sale, benefiting from luck, but also going out of my way to get to know HWV managers and learn the ins and outs of their promos.

A couple of people started saying that I was making up everything, and that my totals were lies. I challenged anyone to step up and if they don't believe my posts, put up $100 vs mine. If I fail to prove that I'm accurately telling the forum both how much I'm getting, and the methods I use, I'll cough up the $100. If I put pics up showing my finds are, in fact, real then the other person has to cough it up. Someone last night agreed to the bet. I posted pics of my haul the night before, showing every single game that I had claimed to have gotten. Of course, that poster is now refusing to pay. Which I expected. Hell, if he will paypal it to this site as a contribution to help keep it running that's good enough for me, but he is like all the other kids on here, all show and no go. They run their mouth and talk shit about me because I flip more than they do. All the posts got deleted. Honestly, if you make a bet on here and you fail to honor it, I think you should be banned. This entire forum is built on us being able to trust complete strangers. Anyone who outright lies and is this dishonest has no business here.

First of all, I did not trick anyone into giving me the deal. You obviously have not even read the story, or you would KNOW how it happened. 2nd of all, I challenge you to find any post of mine where I said I was "king of the mountain"...I honestly don't give a shit. I don't care if anyone makes more or less than me. For some reason, some of you do. I post what I get and how so the rest of you can do the same.

You knew very well that the current gen games were not part of this promotion yet you allowed the sale to go through. I'm not sure about your moral standards, but that's a universally accepted definition of fraud.

I didn't read the actually post where the bet was accepted (I'm willing to assume he wrote something like "I'll take that bet", or whatever), but I don't think I'd assume that someone writing "I bet you $100..." in a forum is actually placing a wager (are we even allowed to gamble in the forums?).
 
I take it no one's actually asked to see a receipt? Perhaps no one cares? IF this was a case of proving you got the games at the last-gen price, just seeing the cases really is not indicative of what price you paid. Sure I can go into Hollywood Video, buy a bunch of next-gen games with the % off deal, snap a picture of the "haul" then take them back.

If you're trying to prove something, I'd say that's the best way of proving it, as the pictures don't do it. Just sayin'.

Furthermore, I'm not part of the bet/wager/whatever nor do I plan to.

Plus, you've done some pretty despicable stuff that's probably ended up with more than a few people being fired(for selling current gen stuff for $4, for not recognizing the potential for abuse in the Sears/Kmart gift card thing you said you took advantage of).

If anything, you're not exactly a moral person yourself, so why should someone else have to be above your standards?

But if a few people can't get over that, then I won't post TIVs, I won't post deals I find, I won't post upcoming promos I get inside info on, I won't post loopholes I find, I won't post anything helpful whatsoever.

Dude, I've read close to every post in this thread, and probably 95-99% of yours. When you slip current gen games in between the older games in the hopes of getting the csr to not realize, when you get one of the games to go and then go back and grab 20 more, when you try to get them to scan the current gen games with the coupon just to see, you are tricking them into giving you a deal they're not supposed to. If you deny that you've done that after you clearly posted it out in your posts then you have no credibility.

I did not say you said you were king of the mountain, I said you were posting all the stuff you have more to boost your ego than to help people, making yourself feel like you are "king of the mountain". Edit: just read the recent Moderator comment. This is my last post about this in this thread, if anyone wants to discuss it further maybe we can create its own thread separate from the deals. Back on topic: I went to HWV today and they had no new games transferred for the sale, but there were still some semi decent flips around.

I think you are misunderstanding...

Posting games with trade-in values is fine, i.e.:

:ps2: Lego Batman - $11

is different than
(25x) :ps2: lego batman - $11

One version is posting TIV, the other is boasting. You don't need to tell us how many of each or hoops (that some may deem as unethical) that you "jumped" through to get certain games.

Again, I don't have a problem with it, but these bickering posts need to stop.

I know that I personally haven't used a single one of your posts for anything helpful. I got the same guy at gamestop that has been taking my trade-in's the last time I went and I got nothing but hassle. He asked me why I've traded in more than one copy of certain games, charged me refurb fees on most of the games I traded and was short with me the whole time. I think I'm done trading in, it was good while it lasted!

Just tell him that you're a collector or you're trading in a friend's copy. Really, the best bet is to avoid that situation entirely. Just go to another Gamestop. They're popping up all over the place like Starbucks. Spread your trades around.

I'll post the trade in values after I go to GS.

The TIV's at Hollywood Video are generally lower than Gamestop's and Blockbusters, from the ones I've already asked them about.

For example:

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam for 360 was getting $35 for the longest time at Blockbuster, while Hollywood wasn't offering more than a third of that.

You're better off taking full advantage of the Gamestop 30% deal while it lasts than trying to flip back to HWV. Although, I was told at Blockbuster(and HWV) that they WILL match TIV's to other stores.

However, I would think that HWV would call Gamestop for values prior to matching, which means they would be told the BASE value and not the value with any promos applied to it. So, in the end, you'd be making MAYBE a few bucks more than what HWV would offer normally.

Mind you, most GS employees are trained NOT to give out TIV's over the phone, so matching there would be a challenge and a half.

But if there were some way to get someone you know who works for Gamestop to print up a trade receipt with just the inflated post-promo values, it might work.

But that would be straying into a grey area and unless you're a massive flipper, I don't think you'd want to go there.
 
I was fortunate and was able to pick up two copies of Baldur's Gate 2 (Xbox and PS2). I'm only gonna keep one and was wondering if anyone knows which is the better system to play it on? I'll be using a 360 or PS3.

From what I remember, the xbox version looks better and the choice of controller is kind of negligible. PS2 version is more valuable, though.

I guess I wasn't clear. I was thinking if you had store credit at Gamestop, you could buy Resistance 2 or another recent-release PS3 game for about $38 (minus 20% coupon and edge) and trade it to Hollywood Video for store credit to buy 3.99 games to flip back to Gamestop. I'm guessing you would need a quote/receipt from Blockbuster to get a good enough TIV for Hollywood to pricematch to make it feasible.
 
Well, I think the GCN games at the Wellenton Hollywood video are cleared out of anything of notability. They let me look though the stacks and take anything I wanted from them (They also will let us take any Xbox game, but not PS2), The only good things IMO left are F-Zero GX and Lost Worlds, but there are some other things someone may want, like 1080, a Harvest Moon game, Amazing Island...

:ps2: Ace Combat Zero (This was mint and still had the factory sealed, but no plastic wrap. Was a bit disappointed when they had to open the seals to make sure the disk was in the box though :/)
:gc: Kirby Air Ride (A copy for my friends so they stop hijacking mine)

:gc: Super Smash Brothers Melee
:gc: Harvest Moon: Magical Melody
:gc: Eternal Darkness
:gc: Fire Emblem

:xbox: Call of Duty 3


Was hoping for more, but not bad in the end. Next up is if the sale does not suddenly come to an end, is to tackle the xbox games, and to see if I can find some other gem in the Gamecube games. Now to start racking up a list of Xbox games to look for.

More or less. I just kept asking to see the stack till they let me, quickly went though it and got what I wanted. Was hoping to find more for the gamecube, but I am content. Though I do have to try and remember what I saw, and see if I can get it priced. Something I could of just passed off as shovelware could be something worth a great deal.

ahaha nice, do you remember which employee it was? I think there would be at least one employee who was willing to let you go through the stack.
