From now until further notice all preplayed PS2,XBOX and GC titles are 3.99. From the Movie Gallery store I work at I picked up 2 copies of Mercenaries 2 and Guitar Hero 3.

Also if your Movie Gallery has a Game Zone all preplayed Wii, 360 and PS3 games are 25% off. Most of the next gen games that are preplayed in the Game Zone sections come as trade-ins so you can generally find good copies its just that the selection wont be as good as a Gamestop.

Edit by Io - For those with Hollywood Videos around note that this sale applies only to stores that DO NOT have Gamecrazy's attached. Also, it is still highly YMMV at any given store. Some don't participate (manager's discretion) and some are just clueless and think you are talking about the concurrent $3.99 movie deal (which requires 2 rentals and only applies to movies $12.99 and under). I've gone to about 6 stores and have gotten about 4 different versions of the deal. There is a code they can scan that makes all these games come out to $3.99 no matter whether you rent or not and no matter what the original prices are - it is just YMMV whether they can A) Find that code and B) Choose to apply it to the games you want to buy ;).

The guy with the blond hair. My next hope is to get someone let me go though the xbox games. Then if the deal is still not over, eh, I guess its the long process of checking all the PS2 games.

Has anyone else had any problems trading in Lego Batman PS2 without taking a refurb Fee? Every single time they have put a Lego batman in their stupid disk checker it always fails evern if it is in mint condition. Most the time the employees dont charge me the fee if the disk is perfect, but if there are a few scratches I have to take the fee.

They put the disc in the who what now? I've never heard of such a thing!

The answer is no, I've not been hit with a single refurb fee on any of these HWV games. But as stated before it is really a store-by-store or district-by-district thing. In some places they'll nail you whenever they can.

Yup.Ive been nailed by refurb fees by one particular store twice.Im not going back there again...ever.

You haven't seen those stupid little machines at gamestop that look like a big portable CD player?? Some of my stores will take my stack of trade ins and go right to the checker and put the disc in the machine regardless of what the disk looks like and Lego Batman Always fails...normally I would just keep the game and try and trade it at a different store, but I have already traded in a Lego batman a few times at every store around me.

Nor I.

Traveled afar to another HWV this evening. Wouldn't you know, all their games were in a bargain bin with very few on the shelves. Looks like they're making room for either newer games or next gen. I saw tons of LBM and Merc 2 for rent and it's Tuesday so not sure if anything has been converted yet. The only games left to buy were maybe GS values of $0.50. Would have picked up maybe a Lego Star Wars but for 1 game I didn't think it was worth it. Oh well.

Guys, don't give up yet! There's still stuff out there...just gotta look for the hidden gems:

nice haul
how was the trip?

Not too bad...about 12 hours in a rental car, 13 MG's, a lot of games, a couple of wrong turns and a nice dinner with my sister! I think I've earned myself a nice new copy of Left 4 Dead tomorrow.

Goddamn. Trakan already told you guys to quit being a bunch of babies, and you're still at it.

I love the deals forum.

----

I got a call yesterday from HWV asking if I could return the 360/ps3/wii games I bought with the coupon since I wasn't supposed to and the employee shouldn'tve sold 'em to me. Nothing I can do now... everything is gone. ;)

lol, really? I wonder how much trouble the employee got into for that. They couldn't've honestly expected you to make a trip out just to return inventory they accidentally sold to you.

Most of the games that used to be $10 after the bonuses at GS are down to 7 and 8. BB might start becoming just as good a place to flip at.

BB TIV:
PS2 AitD-$12

I'll post a list later of w hat I traded last night, it's got most of what we've been trading with a few exceptions.

and don't crucify Jgaldis for posting pics of his haul, he was gone yesterday and didn't get to see the discussion about how thats frowned upon as bragging.

My only problem is that my BBusters want the games in mint condition with manauls. Even the Lego Batmans that i've picked up were in terrible shape and they're only a few weeks old. I may try it, but I'm fairly certain my BBVs won't take the discs in that condition.

Nice haul. That said it looks like about 33 games or so which probably cost you $140.00 or so. I don't think that Episode III, Playboy, and State of Emergency make you any money(maybe lose a little even) for flipping purposes at least unless you were planning on keeping them for yourself. :D

Still 12 hours in a rental car AND 13 stores after gas, time, rental car fees, and energy, seems a pretty huge investment so here's hoping your free copy of Left for Dead was worth it ! ;) j/k but seriously, I would have to be making some SERIOUS cash to make that kind of investment of time. You even rented a rental car too ? Geeshhh... Lots of effort but Good job nonetheless. Shows their are still some VIRGIN stores out there for people willing to rent a car, take the day off work, and drive from state to state.
How'd they have your number? The employee should be the one in trouble. :)
I wouldn't go back to that store though.
I rented Sex and the City/Fool's Gold for my mom on my first transaction. :p

I picked up Pikmin 2. Seriously. Fxcking Pikmin 2 for $3.99.

Thank you for the notification, OP!

Without going into a lot of details of my personal life, or for fear of being labeled a bragger, there is still a lot more to this story than you would think. I had planned to go visit my sister in her new place before Thanksgiving anyway, so this little jaunt tied in perfectly.
To go to all of those stores I never even went outside of a 2-hr. radius from my house; and I didn't travel out of state (but I live close to a border anyway, so that's not a big deal).
All told with gas and all the rental car cost me $50 bucks...yes, that's a cost, but not much when you look at the big picture. My GF and I share a car, and I've put a TON of miles on in recently, looking for games, deals, etc...I'm always busy during this time of year; It was actually worth it to just pay for the rental and save the mileage on our car.
Also, in addition to picking up the games seen (plus a few more), I also had a ton to trade in. There's only so many GS' in my area, so I need to branch out to a few more to finish my trades, anyway.
Yes, a few of the games pictured aren't winners; believe it or not, I have my reasons for that too! A few I just want to check out (Merc 1, SW ep. 3) and for $4 why not? I also tend to buy one or two 'loser' games to throw in with a stack I trade at GS. To me, it just seems a little fishy to come in with a pile of old ass last-gen games, and to get $10+ TIV for every single one; so I'll throw in one (or two if I have a large batch of games) with a pile of trade-ins, so it looks a little more legitimate.
Come on guys, someone has to be a business major here! Spending a little extra here or losing a dollar or two there...it's all an opportunity cost. You're almost always going to have to spend (or lose) money to make money! don't know about a lot of you, but I never came up with much if I have an opportunity to make even $100 extra bucks on an off day, I'm all about it. I'm going to be able to give my nephews (and myself) some great games for X-Mas, so it has been totally worth it!

Bought 10 games this time. Some Cabella from Xbox and PS2 and Star Wars, Ico, Cars, Digimon for free, and Mercenaries. The Cabelas were worth trash thou. I guess
I picked the wrong ones thou.
None of the other stores in RI are doing this. The one with a stockpile of awesome games refuses to give in.
Is it a Movie Gallery, a Hollywood Video, or a Hollywood Video with a Game Crazy (the latter of which is legitimately not participating in the deal)?

One thing people always forget when they throw out the "wasted time", "get a real job", etc, comments is that it is FUN to go out and hunt down cheap games - whether they be clearance or from this deal or whatever. It is a hobby unto itself no matter what the end result is (for your collection, for flipping, for gifts, etc). And thus, in that case, the time spent is irrelevant as long as you enjoyed it.

Yep, the hunt is sometimes more fun then what you wind up yielding. All of these people are hypocrites since we're all on this site to get cheap games-- why not get a real job and pay full price for that game?

^ It's not ending today, the girl at my store said that they are doing it untill stock is reduced, she said that most stores will probably be recieveing warehouse shipments soon, that will restock them, I'm hoping that if this is true that my store will get in alot of the stuff i missed because i was 2 weeks late to the party, I was in the day before the sale started and they had multiple copies of most PRG's on PS2 and GC, they were all gone by the time I got there, but i still managed to pick up alot of nice games.
Has there been any confirmation of this ending today?
It was still going at my local HWV today although I think a Corporate Memo went out about people trying to STEAL the current gen stuff by bamboozling unsuspecting and untrained cashiers into scanning the old gen PS2,XBOX,GC $3.99 sale coupon and applying it towards the 360, Wii, PS3 games ripping the store off.

I bought a single copy of FIFA 08:ps2: and the csr kept asking the manager a couple times so they wouldn't get in troube about whether she was sure that this game was included in the $3.99 sale.

BTW, FIFA 08:ps2: base $5.50 @ GS :)

I bought about 7 titles tonight and ran them over to my local gamestop to use the tiered trading deal. I did the math before i left and should have gotten $113 in credit, but only received $86.

The clerk told me that all of my discs had writing on them and they had to charge me $26 dollars in refurb fees. He wasn't complaining about the stickers, just the sharpy. It took my profit down a 1/3.

Anyone else have this problem? Know of ways around it?

I would ask him how he plans on removing the writing during the refurbishing process. I haven't been hit with refurbs for writing.

Many of my games had the permanent marker on them, usually only numbers, but no refurb fees here for me thus far with them.

and what games were they?

Yeah the games aren't theirs until you sign the pad. I don't care if it's a few bucks.... but $26??!? Granted you still got about $12 per game which is more than I've been getting for averages.

Well, i wasn't told about the fee until after i was handed a receipt. I figured the TIVs on this site were just out dated, and that was the cause of the low credit i was quoted. I was more shocked than anything, and just didn't feel like putting up with whatever was involved in undoing it. I don't know about the GS in your areas, but i stood in store for 45 minutes while all 5 of their employees wasted my time- and didn't want to start that process again.

Oh and it was 8 games, not 7:
Mario Baseball (GC)
Mario Party 5 (GC)
Mario Kart Double Dash (GC)
Zelda: Twilight Princess
Mercenaries 2 (PS2)
Lego Batman (PS2)
Shadows of the Collossus (PS2)- should have kept this one...
Star Wars: Force Unleashed (PS2)

all TIVs listed in OP are still valid.

Tomorrow i'm going back to grab:
NBA Live 09 (PS2)
Lego Batman (PS2)
Star Wars: Force Unleashed (PS2)
Mercenaries 2
Some filler for my 5th game.

I'll be hitting a different GS though.

My GS does that too. I stoped trading stuff in, they hit me with refurb fees on everything, even if i take in a K-Mart clearance title that I have never played.

I'm surprised to see that your MG/HWV still has these decent games/flips for sale.
You better go back to pick them up ASAP while you still have the chance.

Even after I traded my one lot of games, I came back in to inquire as to why Stubbs The Zombie wasn't on the receipt. They said 'oh we must've missed that'. So then they tried giving me the base value ONLY for it. I said "I traded this game in with the others, I want the promo bonus too".

Then some blonde bitch employee kept telling me 'once you sign the pad the games are ours', as if I'm supposed to just give them a fuckin' game for free. I stood there restating my case until they voided the WHOLE transaction out and rescanned/re-entered ALL of them. Funny thing is, the guy who missed that ONE game mumbled about being pissed off.

He wouldn't have had a reason to be pissed off if he did the job right the FIRST time.

Oh and nbballard, I would take AS LONG as is needed to get the transaction done, even if it takes an hour and a half.

But I'm guessing that the refurb fee nonsense not being told to you is a NATIONAL standard, since the local employees weren't going to tell me until the end of the transactions. So lately, I've been telling them to tell me when/if a game gets a fee, so I can tell them if I want to keep it or not.

LOL seriously, why the hell does Gamestop charge a refurb fee? i was at gamestop 2 weeks ago and they were selling a used game case thats been CHEWED up.

To make more free money off of suckers, of course. I bet all of the soccer moms and their little brats who come in with mangled games get butt raped on fees, but never realize it and trade in the games anyway.

I did a little experiment a couple years ago where I traded in a game that I scratched to hell, I marked the underside of the cover art with a marker in a certain spot.

Then I traded it in, they tagged me with a big refurb fee for it($3-4), making the trade almost worthless. I asked what they do with games that were marked with the fees. They said they send them out to be resurfaced or whatever.

I went back in later that day and found my copy of that game on the shelf(or at least the case for it) and asked why I was charged the refurb fee when they didn't even bother to send it out.

They were speechless.

What makes me laugh now though, is that the games I got hit with fees this most recent time on, were unceremoniously thrown into this big box of refurbs they were supposedly shipping out.

Soccer moms = hot

Anyway, that was a great experiment, but how do u know you got the actual disk? Maybe they kept the case there and sent your game in a generic case. idk. Quite suspicious. Almost as great when gamestop store their used systems in their bathroom.

Also, i really want fire emblem for gamecube. Not sure if its good, if not, ill keep it as a collection. its 30 dollars used. it doesn't matter. I have 2 copies of twilight princess and I can trade ONE in and get $13 w/ 30 % + 10% = 20 something. and then use the 20 percent cellfire coupon plus edge. and that will give me just about enough.

I went wandering today and found an absolute gold mine. About 10 Lego Batmans, Mercs 2, several dot.hacks, GHIII, Mario Parties galore, just a ton of stuff. Then I quickly realized why it was still a gold mine after all these weeks. That store wasn't including anything over $14.99 in the sale (similar to what IO and others were reporting at some stores when this sale was starting). Oh well, I take confort in knowing that if they did include the better games in the deal, there was no way I would've stumbled on to them now.

Oh, in case anyone doesn't like the marker on there games, a little rubbing Alcohol will fix that right up. Just be warned though, sometimes it will not come off all they way, and if you rub it to long, the label may start coming off (Not to big of a deal for DVD games, but if you do it to a PS2 CD/Blue back game, you are screwed)

Also, anyone have any word on when these Warehouse games will arrive? I would love to find a bunch of older PS2 game Gamecube games, and maybe the odds of getting them with a box and manual would be higher.
