From now until further notice all preplayed PS2,XBOX and GC titles are 3.99. From the Movie Gallery store I work at I picked up 2 copies of Mercenaries 2 and Guitar Hero 3.

Also if your Movie Gallery has a Game Zone all preplayed Wii, 360 and PS3 games are 25% off. Most of the next gen games that are preplayed in the Game Zone sections come as trade-ins so you can generally find good copies its just that the selection wont be as good as a Gamestop.

Edit by Io - For those with Hollywood Videos around note that this sale applies only to stores that DO NOT have Gamecrazy's attached. Also, it is still highly YMMV at any given store. Some don't participate (manager's discretion) and some are just clueless and think you are talking about the concurrent $3.99 movie deal (which requires 2 rentals and only applies to movies $12.99 and under). I've gone to about 6 stores and have gotten about 4 different versions of the deal. There is a code they can scan that makes all these games come out to $3.99 no matter whether you rent or not and no matter what the original prices are - it is just YMMV whether they can A) Find that code and B) Choose to apply it to the games you want to buy ;).

I expanded my radius last night to 125 miles one way. Got into that town, with 2 HWVs and a few MGs, and the first HWV the guy said as soon as the sale started he bought 35 games and took them to GS....6x Madden 09, LBM, NBA09, etc...but I looked and found some worth grabbing, including another NBA09. They had pulled more since he did it and he didnt know some of the title worth grabbing. He said his roomate worked the other HWV already, but I found even more there, including a Mario Party4 and a Dark Alliance 2(ps2).
 
How bad of a selection do movie galleries have? I am thinking of going up to one on friday (I will do it this time), and its about 10 minuets closer and an easier route then to goto the Hollywood video 80 miles south of me.

I think some people have had some luck with MG, but I haven't (as mentioned above). I also forgot to mention that my wife checked 2 MGs that are much further away when she had to drive out of town for an appointment. Both were even worse than what I've come across (one was located inside a Walmart, and apparently had 7 games for sale).
 
MGs have no rhyme or reason. I've been in some with 3 games for sale total. I've been in some with 75 games for sale, but 20 of them were good flips. I went to one that had a HWV type selection, with a huge 2 sided rack full of a few hundred. I bought 45 and left a few of the 2x flips. This is why I always posted the amounts I picked up and which store, but evidentally posting amounts of games bought is bragging, so NO MAS.

How about if I start a general flipping thread, so the people who flip to get games free, or buy cheap games for the PC don't have to have it shoved in their face? I understand if you view is as wrong or whatever why you wouldn't want to see post after post about it, and it's wrong for us who do it to shove it in your faces.

I have been thinking the same thing, so it would be appreciated. Something that could combine the TIV from all of the major B&M's as well as clearance items across stores -- a master list as an example.

Hey - pretty much what I consider to be the 2 best PS2 games right there. There is a DQ VIII sitting at my local store but since I already have it and it's not a good flip, there it remains. If anyone wants it let me know.

Whaaa? I haven't spent a single cent in this whole endeavour. Of course, I had Gamecrazy credit to spare so I didn't need to. In any case, my real cash expense is a fraction of the $3.99 - maybe $1 at the most. I need to redo my spreadsheets to account for using store credit - right now I just consider it a cash purchase at a percentage discount based on my running profit ratio. So it looks like I've spent way more money than I actually have (figured I'd go that way to keep myself in check ;)).

Capa - if you want to start such a thread go for it.
 
wow, was reading through the whole Thread and why all the hate for Capa, that guys amazing for getting all those games and deals, $3.99 x360 games :0

anyway picked up a animal crossing and a couple of twilight princess for gamecube today.

Jus thave them resurface it, all the MG/HWV's awound here have resurfacers, and if it is a game you purchased from them they will give you a free resurface.

My local store converted some today, I havent had time to go check though, the girl told me whan i called to see if they got a new shipment of games.
 
my local store has 2 rental copies of it, I met the main big dog manager finally the other day, I'll see if I can get him to do a rental conversion for me

well some of us aren't as lucky to have GameCrazy's in our area (There are ZERO near me..and not just near me...within 300 miles of ANYWHERE AROUND ME!) and plus i tried to move some GS credit to HWV...no dice at any location...no HWV employee or manager in their right mind is going to give me the $26 that BBV used to pay in TIV for Alone in the Dark (Wii) when HWV SELLS it for only $25....so $3.99 for some of us IO is all we can manage to do...and im not complaining...60% of the games i've gotten i've ebayed and made a mtn of cash for all the xmas gifts i intend to purchase for my family. the other 40% went to either GS or Goozex and im happy with what i've accomplished thanks to this deal..not to rap on you or anything, just hope for your empathy :whistle2:D

Before I make a wasted journey, can you confirm the sale will still be running ON Saturday, i.e. does it end Saturday night at close of business?
 
How the F are so many people getting the games that are 14.99 and above for 3.99? I've been to 4 different HWV and every one of them has a sign that says sale is only for 14.99 and below games. I even tried mixing some 14.99 + games in with my legit games and they wouldn't let me do it.

They are all lieing. Call someone higher up, report the stores, get the higher ups to yell at them, and grab what you want.

They are all consistent though, and this is 4 stores in 2 states. I don't think they are lying. I go into the stores, act dumb and say, hey are all of the used games 3.99, and they tell blah, blah, blah, 14.99 and below are 3.99.

Sounds like policy to me. Are people dealing with a lot of apathetic and/or dumb employees? are am I involved in a conspiracy to deny me primo games for 3.99?

It sounds like you're area is just getting a crap deal. :/ At my Movie Gallery they just have two entire rows of the shelves full of PS2/GCN/Xbox games with a sign saying "All Preplayed Playstation 2, Gamecube, and Xbox games $3.99."
 
Are you sure? the guys at my HV didn't mention it, and we talked about it for a few minutes. Also- i stopped at a Movie Gallery the next county over and they were just starting to mark their shelves.
 
The one store that had all the goodies right near me that kept holding out finally decided to actually follow the deal. As a result, it all got picked up by the workers and the manager at first and now others have picked it clean. fuck this.

Yeah, I'm wondering if I should make one more attempt at the holdout store around me. They have the 2 rental + $12.99 and under thing going and claim that even though no other store around here runs it that way, that "all stores run different promos". Of course, I haven't called there in a week. I'm sure they changed it since then and someone else snagged those MvsC2's :bomb:.
 
I cashed out some of my $300 plus GS credit last night, ended up buying a Wii which is currently on CL, but if my buddies' brother in law offers me $220 I'd easily take it since I'd be making $60-70 over what I've spent in gas and on the games to flip.

i have a few stores around me that are movie galleries that havent converted a damn thing. they have 10 copies of batman and mercenaries that i have been eyeing since the day i read this thread. i call everyday and sure enough the games are still rentable. anyone experience this with mg?

Yup- last night i went into one and they had 8 copies of Pikmin2, 3 copies of Zelda:TP, Windwaker, 4 Animal Crossings, etc, etc. My arms were full and i hadn't even made it to the PS2 games. Then the employees notified me that the sale games were on the other side of the rack. All they had was a few copies of "Ballers" and "Billy Hatcher". lame.

Good stuff! Since i didnt check tiv's before i went out to a hollywood video i didnt get much value for what i had bought there yesterday at my GS. But its a lesson learned and now i have $26 store credit there and will start building asap!:applause:

So far, from this deal I've accumulated about $400 in GS credit, all my money back and then some. And with that $400 in credit, I used around $200 to buy 8 copies of Gears Of War(26.99 each or with cellfire like 21.xx) and sold those back to Hollywoood for $30 each. That's right, $30 for the original GoW! With that $240 Hollywood Gift Card I bought over 50 3.99 games and sold them to GS. Now I have over $700 in credit at GS. :D

I could've accumulated a whole lot more but all the HWVs around here are wiped out. I'm mostly picking up games with 4-7 trade in value now. I wish I would've known about this sooner...

And I wish you would have told us about that Gears 1 TiV at HWV. Anyone know if it is still valid? I'm guessing no.

Yes they do! Go to town man! I sold 6 to a HWV right next to a GS. It's pretty ridiculous stuff. :D

I just did it 2 days ago, so I think it should still be at $30.
