New Super Mario Bros -- Out Now!
ok, I want to get this game (espically since it's gonna be on sale at $28 and my DS comes next week) but what's the hype all about? I really don't see anything truly noteworthy about the game.
first true 2d mario bros. ina about 15 years... that's more than enough.

than what was the peach game supposed to be? If anything, that seems more traditional than this since it's strict 2-D. Is there gonna be a lot of unlockables? I don't know why, but it feels like this game isn't gonna be as big as super mario world and that's my main issue against it.

And yet, if the most recent game it pales to is Super Mario World, Nintendo wins.

I appreciate you cautious nature, but really, think about what you're saying. A lot of unlockables? Did Mario 1, 2, 3, or even your precious world have a lot of unlockables? You don't play Mario games to unlock crap, you play them cause they're fun. All signs point to this being one of the best 2D platformers ever. If nothing else, it's a worthy heir to Mario's 2D roots.

Long live Super Mario Bros. 4!

Another thought, if all the reviews are up, and the leaked, illegal copy is out there, can't they just release the game a week early? Please! :)
You speak only foolishness in the second line.
I know...but with a job, I can buy lots o 'tendo things. More specifically, I can preorder and pay off my Wii so that when textbook time comes; I won't have to choose between pain and pleasure (I can get both, oh yeah, I sure can).

Can the rom even be played? There's a ton of DS roms, but I haven't seen any that work 100%..

Paid off my copy today after trades, I can't wait!

I can assure you that it does and that I need this game more than ever. It needs to be a week from now, NOW.

I just want something that's gonna take just as long to beat as super mario world. Not something as short as say....Super mario 1.

SMW can take very little time if you take the right way through, or a long time if you get every exit. NSMB is the same way.

Well, the rom HAS been leaked...All I can say is...this game ROCKS! Before people start to bitch, I full plan on buying 2 copies of this game and will only play for a little bit. Holy crap this rocks. Any questions?

Glad to here everyone is liking it! I've got over a month wait though since I sold my fat DS, looking forward to getting my Lite and of course Mario from somewhere cheap next week.

I used to have a supercard for my GBA but I sold it. Gotta look into how you are playing DS games.....

Well I got this last night and I am totally amazed.
I really cant believe how old school-ish and fun this game is. My fave thing is the blue shell and the extra mini Mario. I hate that the game seems to not be all that long. I am even trying to find out all the hidden things. I love that there are loads of hidden things and other paths to find via those large coins. Anyways awesome game total recommend.

Played 4 player multi player last night. First 1v1 with Mario vs Luigi and that was a total blast. They should have made that 4player and bigger. What great fun it was.
But the real blast was that mini game multi player its just what a DS version of Mario Part should be. We played it over and over and over again. I hope there are more mini games to unlock.

So is it out now? I'm planning on buying it during the first week to take advantage of a lower price but I won't be getting a DS until June...

Next week on Wednesday if you want CC's awesome low price.

What's the awesome low price going to be? $25? (please!)

$28. $27.30 when you PM it to Best Buy.
What's the awesome low price going to be? $25? (please!)
$27.99.

Not as low as $25, but still saving $7 dollars.

Best Buy expects it on 5/16, which is the same day Gamestop / EB is going to get it (since it ships 5/15), so I'm just going to PM the CC ad over there.

Why anyone would pay $35 for it when it's available on the same day as a cheaper retailer, I'll never know. My local Best Buy will probably have this game in before Gamestop anyways.

$28 is a bargain! I still remember paying $50 for SMB3 back in the day which works out to roughly $75 of today's money...
How do you get Best Buy to price match it? I've never done that before.
bring the sunday add to the cash register with your game adn ask them to pricematch (be sure to point out where the game is on in the add). From there on all should go well.

I pre-ordered mine. Looking forward to this game :)

Yes if you go to TRU, but it will be $35.

I went to the only TRU around me and I hate that shit. They had nothing, but in one area they had this whole little display up with the game. I don't have a DS so I didn't buy it, but they had the game for sale.

This could just be my store though because they are run by a bunch of dumbasses that can't even count to ten or speak anything close to correct English.

I went to mine and they didn't have it. My TRU must be one of the few that hasn't converted to the "R-Zone" structure.. all of their new games are kept in that room up front and there are only the tickets back in the game department

so I called my friends at work today (TRU) to see if they got it, I guess someone on here was mistaken.

he told me that display for Super Mario Bros. DS isn't supposed to be setup until the game actually comes out, if I am not mistaken it should be similiar to the Mario Kart DS display with all the empty display cases in them.

my question is did someone think those empty cases/display meant they had the game? because I have been to some TRU's that put out empty display cases for games that aren't out or they haven't got in yet, and don't do anything physically to them to make it so customers don't think they have it. such as keeping the empty cases behind the glass case, or putting a coming soon sign on them.

that is certainly possible.. but it is also possible that they do have the game in the back and mistakenly set up the display and started selling the game today. It wouldn't be the first time something like that had happened

I wasn't mistake they had the setup up. Like I said they are dumbasses and maybe put the games out early, Nintendo did fuck with the date a lot. But I saw the display and I saw the cases, now maybe the game wasn't in them, but they were wrapped, and seemed real.

if this is true they really must be dumbasses. they aren't supposed to put live product in that display.

Well I don't know if they are the product or not, but it sure looked real.

But they are dumbasses either way.

1. Even if they are fake cases people will go "I want this game" and then they either sell them early or go "We don't have it yet". Either way sounds really lame.

2. It is the real thing and they are bigger dumbasses than I thought.

If I had a DS I would have looked more carefully, and try to buy it, but nope. This is why one of you should have bought me a DS.

I'm sad because I won't get to play this until June 11 when I get my DS Lite. I'll constantly be tormented by the NSMB display I'm getting from EB and the unopened copy of it until June 11.
Only 50 more hours and it shall be mineeeeeeeeeeeeee
22 hours for me.

Hopefully Wal-Mart continues tradition and puts out games a day earlier around the time I get out of school :)
I'm gonna try and wait till somebody puts up next week's Fry's ad... they might have it for like $25
I recall someone said they had it for $26 or $27.

just found out about the 80 levels and luigi, definately getting copped
i may cancel my pre-order and just pick it up at CC since it's such a great deal.. and since when did CC start advertising "Tuesday, after 5pm"???
LOL at Target advertising "Wed at 8am". I guess announcing a release time is the new trend

I noticed that the GS near me got in a shipment of NSMB on Sat. I tried to gould the employie into selling me one to no avail

I am so pyched up, I haven't been this giddy since the PSP release.
