i don't understand why they keep sending out these games even when they know whats wrong with them. guess more people are keeping the games than are getting refunds.
Also got the Spanish version of Blue Dragon >_< Didnt open it.
Ugh, I also got the Spanish Version of Blue Dragon.. I guess I'm calling NewEgg tomorrow, this is horrible...

You know, I didn't even bother looking at the text. Turns out mine is also the Spanish version. This is just bad business. I sent them a nasty e-mail, but I guess I'll call them tomorrow too.

I'm going to have to bite on the Blue Dragon, even if I get this fabled Spanish Version, as long as it has English text and Japanese voices, I'll be fine : )
Thanks to whoever confirmed that.
And apparently BD just jumped to $10.99.
OMG NOT A DEAL ANYMORE? D:

Update:

Did the online live chat via NewEgg's website this morning in order to process the return for Blue Dragon. Recieved a complete refund and was told to keep the Spanish version since it would cost them more to get it shipped back to them.

Great customer service experience overall, and would highly recommend the online live chat if you don't want to deal with wait times over the phone.

Online live chat is definitely the way to go with Newegg, they do have excellent customer support.

I was also able to get a refund for Blue Dragon no questions asked because of getting a spanish copy. Told me to toss away the copy if I wanted to.

Instead of throwing it out you could mail it to me.

I'm on the fence about Viking, any opinions?

I strongly suggest that everyone avoid Lost Planet for PS3 like the plague. It's God awful. I'm a big Capcom fan, but this was a massive failure.

Is Viking good? Sega's been really nailing it lately....

Ahh what could be so bad about it, unless you just dont like the game itself?

IMO from what I saw from the videos and reviews, Viking looks to be the next-gen update of the spartan: total warrior series. For those who haven't played that, imagine a dynasty warriors game where the solders actually attack you, with objectives that fell a little more relevant. Anyway for $9 I'd buy it, considering the fact that your basically paying $9 for 7-9 hrs of entertainment.

hmm...tempted to get Blue Dragon. I am trying to learn spanish. Mejor si esta gratis, pero no. All the reviews make it sound like a 20 hour bore festival.

I was having a pretty good time with it before I got involved in Left 4 Dead. I don't know about the 20-hour part. I guess if you just blow through it maybe, but my g/f and I spend a lot of time talking to everyone and checking EVERYTHING (you can check just about everything in the game for small items/gold/etc), and I think we put about 20 hours into the first disc alone. It's not without flaws, but I think it's very much worth $10.

You can throw it away or discard it. Whatever you would like.
This is awesome, I got a free copy of Blue Dragon. The case might be in Spanish, but whatever, it's still free. :)

Thanks CAG.

It makes me wonder thou, can this be done with other games listed for $10, even if nothing is wrong with it?
The third disc is amazing, but it's so hard to get through the first two.

I got my Blue Dragon today and it was the Spanish Version.. It worked out perfect though because you can choose what language you want the game in.. New Egg also refunded me my money and let me keep the game. :p

Remember, your paying with your account, and as such all transactions are recorded. So if NewEgg starts to see a trend of similar returns on your record, they may not be as friendly as they were the first time around.

Also talking about such things may be in violation of the forum rules.. So hopefully that would be the last of those type of comments.

On a related note, it is true that the disc can be played with full English text and dialogue. The moment you boot the game, it asks you to pick from 3 languages: English, Spanish, Russian. From there on out the game starts and plays just as the original North American release does.

For collector's like myself however who like a proper case/manual with a game, this situation is pretty dissapointing. Even though its technically "free", I can't help but look at the disc in disgust everytime I read "Disco 1" lol.... (which by the way the discs are all in Spanish as well except for the title)

Also apparently none of these copies came with Instruction Manuls, I'm speculating it would have cost more to make an all Spanish manual so MS decided against it, but I doubt that.

Funny how on the cover it says "Totalmente in Castellano". I did not know exactly what that meant until I looked it up. (Just knew it was some type of Spanish) Here is what I found:

"Castellano is the Spanish word for Castilian, which is a word that non-spanish speakers use as "Spanish". It also refers to the people from Castilla y Leon, in English Castile-Leon."

The real question I want to know is if NewEgg knew before hand that even though these copies were in Spanish they would still work in North American Xbox360 consoles anyway and hence the low $10 price? Any insights on the assumption?

I actually got through the first disk and was like "wow already" but then when I was on the second disk that's when I quit playing, it's been almost a year now so I will probably have to start over.

catellano is the style of spanish spoken in Spain, like your research though.

Do I get anymore tracking updates after "TENDERED TO USPS"? I'm constantly traveling due to work and would be nice to know when I can tell someone else to check the mail for me.
Do I get anymore tracking updates after "TENDERED TO USPS"? I'm constantly traveling due to work and would be nice to know when I can tell someone else to check the mail for me.
Yes you do, it updates usually around 11, 12 oclock central time in the location of the package each day

Got my copies of Shadowrun and Dark Sector, I placed my order Friday afternoon I believe and it arrived Wednesday. I was also happy to see Shadowrun came in the format i ordered (360), both games were sealed and in perfect condition
FYI, most of the retail copies of Blue Dragon that I've seen all had the "cheap" cellophane wrapping (much like Lost Odyssey does) so I'm not positive it was a rewrap, though the missing manual is certainly suspect.
For what it's worth, I bought Blue Dragon elsewhere (the BBV clearance sale), and while I don't remember what the wrapping was like on it, it did definitely have the standard Microsoft security sticker. So that could be a good clue as to whether it's a rewrap or not. (Of course, it wasn't the Spanish version either, so YMMV with that one.)

It also has a fairly extensive-looking manual for a 360 game. I haven't actually played it yet, so I can't say how necessary the info in the manual is for being able to play it.

I ordered Project Sylpheed from Newegg last Friday, and the tracking status has been sitting at "Tendered to USPS" for three days now. I'm wondering what's up with that, since the USPS location for that status is only 45 miles away. I had really expected it to arrive yesterday. Would be nice if DHL's tracking actually carried through to the USPS side, like the UPS Mail Innovations tracking does, rather than just stopping there.

I suffered from the Blue Dragon "fiasco" but I was able to get a refund in three minutes though. Live chat is definitely the way to go when dealing with newegg. Hey at least I got a free game out of the deal.

Beware of Viking on the 360. It has achievements not in powers of 5 so you have to learn all the moves in the game, otherwise your gamerscore will be stuck in an odd number like mine is currently.

You would think after all these calls about Blue Dragon they would either remove the item for sale, or edit it's listing to reflect that it's the Spanish version. I guess they like to piss away money.

Well they'll probably call their supplier and get a refund from them.

Why does it matter?

Trust me, that shit matters. For better or for worse I lost my previous gamertag due to forgetting email and password, anyways on that one I had a 7 or 2 depending on recent achievements, it's obnoxious. It's so imperfect it'll drive you to insanity.

My gamertag score ends on a 2 thanks to Viking; I actually don't mind, it's atypical and something different from it always being a 0 or a 5.

As for the game, it isn't very good. I finished most of it before I exchanged it back to Gamestop for a different game after the last B2G1 free. The main problem I had was the fact that it is repetitive in nearly every aspect: combat (combos are not that interesting), enemies (very little variety here) and actual quests/goals (there are 3 maps but the quests are very similar in each). There just isn't a lot of content and what there is just repeats ad infinitum.

On the plus side, the large scale battles are visually pretty neat (although they get repetitive too) and the achievements are really easy.

Overall, it isn't terrible for $9.99 but, since there are lots of better games available that price, I'd only recommend it if you have already exhausted all the better options. If you can find it cheap, Conan is a more enjoyable game of a similar type.

Conan??? Really??? I thought everyone hated that one... Ouch. If Conan is better, I'm steering clear of Viking! Thanks for the mini-review, dude! :applause:

Yes Conan is many times better than Viking. Conan is an enjoyable God of War knockoff, likely no more than $20 anywhere.

I thought Viking was a lot of fun, I don't know why some people thought it was so bad. I rented it from Gamefly and had it beat (with all 1000 gamerscore points) in less than a week if I remember right. Once you have learned the controls, you can run around and hack people up to your heart's content ;)

The game also has some stealth elements that you can use as well, allowing you to sneak up behind people and perform instant kills. The fighting, in general, was just cool. You can apply elemental abilities to your weapons (such as ice) and unleash devastating attacks on large groups of enemies around you (a feature most button mashing players probably overlook and therefore have a harder time playing the game). If you like gory, brutal fights, this one ranks right up there with Mark of Kri and Dead Space in the dismemberment category :D

Overall, I thought it was a fun game and a nice distraction from all the damn shooters and sports games that plague the 360. I think that for $10, it's a better value than most of the games we see drop to that price range.

I wouldn't say Viking is worse than Conan, they are kindof different games only common in the hacking part. Viking is a very solid game though, looks nice, has some cool environments. It's just repetitive with having to basically do the same objectives on 3 different islands.
