FWIW, Zoids is totally worth it at this price. It offers something quite different from most SRPGs--instead of being able to power-level one or two characters that can single-handily clean the board, the game really requires you to make use of your entire team. Plus, since you use the same team of characters for the entire game, you really start to build a connection with them (albeit severely limited, as they're basically just tank, sniper, etc... lol). Be aware that if you want the full 1000/1000, it'll take you two complete play throughs....
Yggdra Union was much better at teaming. In fact, it's the point of the combat system.

And as for Bionic Commando... I found it to be a solid B (or even C+) title. Don't go in expecting a A+ title, and you shouldn't be disappointed. The swinging around was also well done. Overall, I thought it was fun.
Definitely. I thought the game was a lot of fun when I picked it up for $20 at Gamestop this past summer. At $10 it's a great deal.
Yeah, I loved it. Looks great, controls pretty great (once you get into it), and I loved the story, even though some people act like it's stupid or whatever. Heck, if you can stomach Metal Gear (and I can), this isn't half that weird.

Give it a few hours though-first few hours I wasn't 'getting' it, thought it was kind of generic and lame. And then something clicked and I had a blast through the rest of it. Unlike some of those $10 games (like 50 cent) that are just kind of decent but unremarkable, Bionic Commando is actually really good if it 'clicks' for you. Well worth the risk at a higher price, let alone $10.

It IS sort of weird enough that I can see some people legitimately not liking it, but give it a few hours.
Would anyone recommend Spyborgs? I've seen the video reviews and do enjoy the classic beat-em-up genre, but what do you guys think?
NOOOOO! It's crap. I like side scrolling fighters, but:
-the graphics are garbage. Sub NES level
-the gameplay is garbage. Sub NES level. You can't even tell who you're hitting have the time, as though you'd care.
-it's WAY too hard. it goes from being stupidly easy (which is good given it's hard to tell what's going on), to waaaaaaay too hard just about instantly.
-it's just no fun. Final Fight destroys this in every conceivable way. Far better graphics, control, gameplay, and...story for that matter. Let alone the better games in the genre.

Not worth $5.

I'll plug The Munchables here though! $11-15ish on Walmart/Amazon, and it's a really fun, weird platformer that's vaguely Katamari'ish. I'd never even HEARD of it until I saw a thread on here. Only on world 6, so it might yet get too hard or something, but surprisingly amount of variety and skill to the level design. Get it if you want to take a chance on a Wii game! Spyborgs is icky.

Well worst case scenario it's a HELL of a lot better than Eat Lead. I so wanted to like that game, but it and it's half wit side scrolling shooter sibling are pure garbage IMO.

I laughed through that, and enjoyed the easy gamerscore. It wasn't as bad as people make it sound, but there are definitely a lot of better games.

I may pick this up after all. Thanks.

Edit: Finally bit lol.

to offer the other side, I would recommend spyborgs, drop in-drop out co-op and the ability to change difficulty on the fly go a long way to making the game play according to your own demands.
I also disagree about being unable to tell who you are hitting, it may seem chaotic, but the longer you play, the more the world slows down. The graphics are not subnes level, they are above average wii fare.
bottom line is if you are looking for a co-op brawler, this is one of the better ones for the wii.

Hmm...if they're above average for the Wii, then above average Wii must = below average NES. I've seen FAR better looking Gamecube/Wii games though.

And I'm not the only one to express those exact same comments. It's a muddy mess that's hard to tell what's going on, and then it gets worse when they suddenly jack up the difficulty. It reviewed poorly, but I still think the reviews were too generous.

Yeah, it's worth $10. It is fun but has some crazy difficulty spikes and save checkpoints that are way too far apart. I played for about 4 hours on my PS3, then got frustrated and it down. Probably will pick it back up next week.
Game design flaws and all, is Bionic Commando a good pick up at $10?

It looks pretty decent, but I don't know still.
I loved the game until the last level that almost made me chuck it. Not from the difficulty, but from the fact it seemed like the writers had been fired before finishing the game.

That said, $10 is a nice price.

Where'd you have problems? I didn't notice any difficulty spikes, and I *HATE* getting stuck or having to replay stuff a million times.

I guess there's one place I can think of that was a little annoying, but it wasn't really cheap.

And I loved the story, so :p :D

I haven't seen it mentioned in the thread but "The Witcher" for PC is $9.99 w/ FS. Fantastic deal for a very overlooked and great game.

The real catch of this game is that the upgrade to the Enhanced Edition is a FREE download that comes with tons of new content, reworked inventory, strategy guides, tons of bug fixes, new voice overs, music CD, etc. Newegg lists the Enhanced Edition boxed for $37 while Amazon is running a deal right now for $18 which is the cheapest around.

Crap, I'm mad I paid $4.99 for a disc-only copy at the HWV $4.99 game sale a few months back. I'd have much preferred $6 for a new copy and would definitely jump on it at that price. I'm debating whether I want to get a new copy anyway...

Why would you have two copies of Zoids Assault? The reviews were atrocious.

The achievements seem easy, but even at $6, I am unsure. That is unlike me. Anyone, feel free to dissuade me.

Same with me, I'll usually jump on any game for $6. But after reading a few reviews and watching gameplay videos on youtube, I just can't pull the trigger. It just really looks like a horrible game.

Um, because I was just about ready to buy it used from GS for $12 or $14 or whatever it was and passed and thought I got a great deal on the disc-only $4.99 copy. But I'd rather have a complete (especially new) copy. That's why. But I'll probably pass and just play the one I have - it's not like it's going to be worth anything at any point ;). I was collecting all RPGs at one point but I gave up on that.

Thanks for the info about The Witcher and the EE patches. Ordered it, and downloading the patches and extra items as we speak, all 3-4GB of it.

You're all right to steer clear. The game is awful. I got it from GameFly for a few bucks after my rewards. I figured, the achievements looked easy, and I like strategy games. I just gave up on it after like an hour. The story is awful (maybe because I don't know what Zoids are, but I doubt it...it just seemed like a stupid story), and the gameplay does not save it.

I think Operation Darkness and Spectral Force both got worse reviews than Zoids Assault, but I actually enjoyed both of those games. As much as I tried to get into Zoids, I just couldn't.

figures that they would have The Witcher on sale as I just bought it on Thursday at BB for $20.

Damn you "just bought a new computer, let's buy a game" feeling

Whoa. I had no idea that you get free upgrades if you own the original. I've been wanting the Witcher forever, so for 10 bucks I can get the original and Enhanced downloads? Sign me up. Just hope my laptop can run it somewhat well.

Just started SH:Homecoming. I like it so far. No subtlety at all, especially compared to SH:SM, but the combat is good fun and it looks like the product could go places.

Unfortunately, rebuying DMC4 just reminded me of why I traded that hunk of junk in. I had to play some Bayonetta just to wash the taste of DMC4's greasy, oily, scummy combat out of my mouth.

I'm still unclear: is the enhanced edition the uncensored edition, or do I need to buy the Euro version for that?
I'm still unclear: is the enhanced edition the uncensored edition, or do I need to buy the Euro version for that?
you have to download the 1.5 patch

The only problem with the witcher is its kinda a pain to download all the patches. I know you have to upgrade to 1.4 first from like 1.1, and then eventually upgrade again to 1.5. its not too difficult just time consuming. It took a few hrs. Did it a few days ago.

So you could buy witcher from newegg for 9.99, and upgrade it by downloaded patches to make it the enhanced version? Or spend 8 extra bucks to already have it done for you with the enhanced version from amazon?
I think Operation Darkness and Spectral Force both got worse reviews than Zoids Assault, but I actually enjoyed both of those games. As much as I tried to get into Zoids, I just couldn't.
I enjoyed Operation Darkness as well. I think the majority of the hate for that game was for the camera, but if you can work around it the game is pretty decent. But damn, that camera is horrendous.

Damn, might be buying from newegg then :D

Though I wish they still could of got it out for consoles.

Picked up the Dark Sector/Crackdown/360 Battery combo. Been needing a backup battery for a while and judging from what people have told me about Crackdown, it's about time I get around to trying it..

Thanks OP!

Pretty much. I've already downloaded the patch in anticipation of the game. For me it wasn't worth the extra $8 plus shipping (didnt have any needs to bump it to $25 for amazon FS). The price is essentially double for the enhanced boxed edition at its cheapest.

Yeah, but the Enhanced edition comes with all sorts of in-box goodies. A cloth map, a novel, soundtrack...

... a cloth map that doubles as a towel to get you out of those sticky situations after you install the 1.5 patch. Eww. I'll stick with the cheaper version.
Thanks OP, I picked up 50 cent and Legendary for the 360. I'm optimistic on Legendary and everyone knows 50 cent was good fun. gotta get that skull.

Yeah, but the Enhanced edition comes with all sorts of in-box goodies. A cloth map, a novel, soundtrack...
The map that came with my enhanced edition wasn't cloth. It's also not a full blown novel, just a 48 page one. Still a nice bundle though.
Yeah, but the Enhanced edition comes with all sorts of in-box goodies. A cloth map, a novel, soundtrack...
The only thing that I can see that the enhanced edition offers over the original box is the Cloth map.

The enhanced edition download comes with the CD, the strategy guide (in digital form) and the bonus content. I have zero interest in a cloth map so it was an easy decision for me.

Here is the link for the patch download and a description of everything included:

http://www.fileplanet.com/191956/190000/fileinfo/The-Witcher-Enhanced-Edition-Ultimate-Patch

This is the Ultimate Witcher patch that will update your game to the same level as The Witcher Enhanced Edition. This file contains the patch file, the English language file, soundtrack, making of movies, digital maps, digital manual and guide, and 2 new quests. You'll want to extract the files into the same directory and use the patcher to install all the files.

For anyone on the fence, try the demo. It gives you a solid idea of what to expect. Unique gameplay, mature story line, non linear, with Mass Effect/Bioware game chat interface options.
