NFL 2007 Season Thread
I think Randy might break Rice's TD record even though Rice got those 22 scores in just 12 games because of the strike that year. When is Rice up for the hall? I don't think another wideout will ever enter his neighborhood of dominance
Never.

Jerry Rice is the only player in American sports that you can really say is THE BEST.

There is Jerry Rice....then the Elite..then the above average.

Jerry Rice is perfection.

To even think that he was still the best when he was playing against people half his age.
Never.

His stint in Oakland was just amazing given his age and how long he'd been playing in the League
How many publications or newspapers will start their Patriots story tommorrow with "Reports of the Patriots demise have been greatly exaggerated"?
They should give out fines for players who "guarantee" victories.
His stint in Oakland was just amazing given his age and how long he'd been playing in the League
He was amazing and I feel lucky to have been alive to witness a little of his career.

Jerry Rice is one of those things that Non-sports fans simply can not understand the scope of absolute amazement that us sports fans feel when viewing a person of his caliber.

He was the best in any American sports. The one guy in which you can take away almost a full 20% of every yard he ever gain and he would still rank in the top 5 all time.

He is pretty much the same reason why I am such a die hard Pats fan.....there as close to perfection than anyone else....and isnt that why we play the game? fuck the underdog I want perfection.

So if in a couple years the Pats suck, what fan will you be then?

So...you like the Pats because they're the best team in the NFL? Wow.

Anyway, I have nothing against (real) Pats fans, but if they have an awful season next year, I can't wait to see how many are left.

I was dissapointed when they stopped using him as much in his last season, he was still managing to get wide open.
The Raiders would've won their last Superbowl appearance if they had faced any team BUT Tampa Bay.

I'm all for playing the best football anyone has ever seen, but nothing beats a dramatic game :p

Of course, it's a lot better when the teams playing isn't one you'd root for :p
That's why I love College Ball :D

You know...and not to turn this into college football talk since there is already a thread. I love all sports...I am a sports fan.

But I will never get into College Football. I hate it. To me college football is what happens when you phase out the actually sport part.

The ability to buy and sell your games away is disgusting...the "voting" people in for a championship game is horrid. Thats not sports.

Ah well...time to bask in my glory of Pats winning and Lions losing. My love of perfection is fueled by my hatred for the Lions. WAY TO GIVE IT AWAY BOYS!! Jon Kinta's 10 win season HERE WE COME!!
Ah yes. Lets take it from Anthony Smith. A no name DB in the NFL. Good Job Smith!

I hope the Pats beat....no no no.... I hope they crushthose Shitty Steelers. The Steelers have been squeaking by just about every week on their soft schedule.
You only get a half plate of crow today since Pittsburgh did lose, but Dallas ended up "squeaking by" against those "shitty" Lions.

Dear Minnesota Vikings fans,

I would like to apologize for my demands of wanting Brad Childress fired a bit ago. I jumped the gun and got frustrated because I felt the Vikings could of been doing a LOT better earlier on in the season.

Signed,

Demolition Man
A Vikings & Patriots Fan.

Edit: Now with that said and done.... let's hope that Adrian Peterson has a better game next week.

Wait...what if in 2020 the Lions go undefeated?! What will you do then?
Wait until we've clinched a playoff spot before jumping on the Chilly Wagon.
I'm not quite on the Chilly Wagon but I am sorry for crying for him to get the pink slip. Also looking at the standings right now the Vikes are in the lead right now for that last wildcard spot. Today's win helped a LOT.

Indeed. Soundslike we have a handful of LeBrons here.

Today's game sucked. Glad to see Favre bounce back.

Hey, did Harrison add to his fine total today? Didn't get to see the whole game.
So if in a couple years the Pats suck, what fan will you be then?
Well since I have been one for the last 7 years....I guess so.

I have nothing against people who assume things based on a statement taken out of context and not even said to them. I cant wait until people on the interweb just stop trying proof them selfs to each other.
Wait...what if in 2020 the Lions go undefeated?! What will you do then?
My brain will explode.
Indeed. Soundslike we have a handful of LeBrons here..
Of course you do....nothing says fact like taking one random statement said on the interweb and twisting it. I mean I made draws between Jerry Rice and The Pats and that turned into me being a closet Pats fan.

In reality I am a Pats and Titans fan. Have been for many years will be for many more years.

Christ.....

Points and laughs at that Steelers Fan \\:D/

Oh man, the Ravens are falling apart.

Colts are up 23-0 and it's still the first quarter!!!

The way this is going, they could give the Bears 73-0 win a run for its money :p

Saw these posted elsewhere, thought they were hilarious.
It might be 8 if he's using both hands :p
Or 12 if he's a three-handed freak

I like the second one, it's pretty clever. The first one is like the Big Ben Godsend poster.
13-0 now how bad will it be if Miami beats us when we are 15-0 and they are 0-15..
I can only hope
that was seriously bad judgment, up 6 points, less than a minute to play... and you try to pick it up and run.. wtf
Hell yeah!!! :D Thats vintage Lions football. Dumbshit organization from the owner to the water boy.

Stupid ass Anthony Smith (FS) of the Steelers guaranteed a win by the Steelers against the Patriots. How stupid can you be? How selfish! Like they need any more motivation to come out and play hard?

It was a stupid thing to do and what pisses me off the most is that it worked. Though common sense tells you he was made a fool of, was punked and got specifically targeted and taken advantage of TWICE, he still will have more air time, and more recognition around the media and the NFL. Sucks.

Don't get me wrong, I loathe Moss, Brady, and Bellicheater, it sucked soooo bad seeing them just pick on the guy who guranteed the win. Dumbass idiot asshole.

WTF is so hard about just playing your role, DO YOUR JOB! The reason he was beat TWICE (man that pisses me off) was because he left his man, left his position as a SAFETY (last line of defense) to come up and help the run/stop moss on a run-fake and flea flicker respectively. If he had stayed in position and done his own job, those plays would not have been there. I'm not saying they would not have worked, but at least they could have had a shot at defending them.

I think Vick could make a come back. Being out through the start of the 09 season is rough though. (Do you get time off for good behavior in federal prison?)

He'll still be under 30 when he gets out.

I don't know if it will even be a PR nightmare for any team looking to sign him. America loves to give 2nd chances. Guess we'll find out in 2 years.
I believe the other two got 19 and 21 months. There is a 3rd buddy yet to be sentenced.
I don't get why Vick got the most? O Yea thats right the Prosecutor struck a deal with the other guys to rat on Vick and in return they would get a reduced sentence. :whistle2:?
Did they say how long he would serve on Good Behavior? Also does anyone remember how long his 2 buddies got?
You don't get much reprieve for good behavior in federal "pound-you-in-the-ass" prison. I bet he serves 85-90% of the sentence.

Just read that Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas said they would rather retire at the end of this year than play for Cam Cameron again. The only place I could think of that may be just as bad for morale would be Atlanta after some of Petrino's questionable cuts.

Hey Miami... you want to fix your situation? Bring somebody like Marty Schottenheimer in and have him fix the team. I don't know how Cameron will have his job at the end of the season. You fuck up the draft picks, get a guy like Trent Green, etc. Wayne needs to seriously clean house.
13-0 now how bad will it be if Miami beats us when we are 15-0 and they are 0-15.. I think I've turned ito the typical new england fan always think of the negative...
It would be particularly amazing since that game will be played week 16, when the Pats and Dolphins should be 14-0 and 0-14 respectively.

Marty got railroaded in Washington and San Diego. He is a great coach that deserves another shot.

This.

Seriously, the guy goes 14-2, loses a close game to the Patriots in the playoffs and gets fired. Honestly, anyone can lose to the Patriots. Now the Chargers are 8-5 with pretty much the exact same team. Gee, I wonder what the problem is...
The 49ers should give Micheal Robinson a shot at QB since those other fuckers can't do shit.
Preach brother. I was screaming at the TV scream for Nolan to play Shaun Hill, and finally he did. Nolan's a douchebag.

We should all be thankful for Michael Vick, without him, i'd have to endure another week of the fucking Patriots.

P.S.: Anthony Smith's guarantee didn't change jack shit.

They've been Norv'd. Decent coordinator. Terrible HC.

It changed the number of times he'll be allowed in front of a microphone.

The minimum you have to serve of a federal sentance is 80% I believe, so 85 to 90% is probably what he'll end up with.

Its not so bad in minimum security, its basically a dormitory. The real punishment to Vick is what it does to his football career.
