NFL 2007 Season Thread

i cant belive anyone would be upset about the timeout call in the pats/ravens game, that was just the idiocy of the raves coaches. the thing that should be more focused on is the fact that the flag for defensive holding was called AFTER the pass was incomplete, not during the play, but after it was an incomplete pass. i fail to understand how it can only be holding after the pass is incomplete. that on top of the fact that they didnt review the td at the back of the end zone against the eagles the week before, when everyone knows that it at least warranted a review are the reasons that if the patriots go 16-0 it is completly meaningless to me. i hate the '72 dolphins and their champagne toast as much as anyone else but for it to end the way it has with a team with no class like the patriots will just make 16-0 way less impressive then it once seemed
Touchdown. Adrian. Peterson. TWO!
Going into tonight, I was tied in my fantasy playoff game. I have Peterson, my opponent had Longwell. At halftime, I was worried

Peterson is always going to be one of those guys who goes 20 for 75, then breaks off two long ones to make his per carry look extraordinary. I didn't think he was that special after his last two years in college, but that was a steal for the Vikes.

1. That was obvious defensive holding.

2. That was a good TD by any standard.

So to sum it up, you're upset at a good defensive holding call, and a good TD?
Where has Stuart Scott been the past few weeks?
I believe it is due to his eye. It had been getting really bad before he took his leave.

I'm surprised there hasn't been any Pro Bowl talk.

Big Ben finally got a nod, but I think Troy P might have gotten in mostly on his name.

11 for the Cowboys. Thats Pretty Sweet.

I'm wondering how long its gonna take Roy Williams to realize that he's gonna end someone's career doing that horse collar mess.

How the hell does Fred Taylor or Maurice Jones-Drew not make it? Goddamn.

I hope the NFC starts with 10 for their first defensive play.
I'm wondering how long its gonna take Roy Williams to realize that he's gonna end someone's career doing that horse collar mess.
Never

Eventually they are just going to force him into early retirement with all the suspensions he is going to rack up.

Coach Wade Philips said it best:

"Roy's been in on 105 tackles now and three of them have been on that variety," Phillips said. "Where is the line as far if you hit them too hard or have a helmet to helmet -- are we going to suspend them? ...
11 for the Cowboys. Thats Pretty Sweet.
quite frankly there isn't many other NFC players playing that great..

Oh come on, you don't actually agree with that do you?

It's a very dangerous type of play that has a high risk of injury, and it's not like the NFL hasn't clearly outlined the illegality of the tackle in this situation. He knows he shouldn't do it, he chooses to continue doing it, so the NFL should continue to fine and suspend him until he gets the message.

He's going to hurt somebody (again? Who injured T.O. when he was on the Eagles?), so I don't see how the number of tackles he's made this year is even relevant. It's a recurring issue with this guy, and the NFL needs to deal with it appropriately, as they have with the suspension in this situation

Greg Ellis Quote now "Should he just let the guy run right past him and do nothing?"

I like Roy Williams a lot. I wish he didn't tackle the way he does but when a guy runs by you and has more speed then you there is really no choose. He should practice grabbing the Shoulder Pads since that apparently is legal. You just can't grab the Neck Hole of the Jersey.

Also having him out of this game will not hurt the Cowboys at all. Sure Roy is a Great Run Defender but he sucks against the pass. The Cowboys usually take him out every 3rd down anywho. Keith Davis plays well and is invincible. I say invincible because he has been shot in the head ( Last Year or the Year before ) and is still alive :D

senorwoohoo - I'm guessing your a Pats fan, with that said - Rodney Harrison is one of the dirtiest players to ever play the game ;)
Also having him out of this game will not hurt the Cowboys at all.
If anything it's a good reason to rest him before the playoffs.

Well that's a heckuva lot more reasonable than what Phillips said, at the very least.

Still, I cringe every time someone makes one of those tackles like that. I'll have to see the replay again, but from what I remember it seemed like Williams was gaining on him and there was help from a teammate, so I don't think it was warranted. That being said, I reserve the right to ammend this comment upon video review. ;)

I say they should have Roy Williams run around with the ball in a drill 105 times. 3 of those times a player will randomly choose to horse collar tackle him. Let's see what happens.

I would just like to make a comment on James Harrison (first year starter replacing Joey Porter on the Steelers) making the pro bowl. Way to go silverback! The guy is a beast and replaced a struggling Porter better than any Steeler's fan could have dreamed.

Props also to Roethlisberger for making his first probowl.

In conclusion, the Patriots are cheaters and everything they've acheived in the past few years and this year is teinted by such with an astericks.

Enough of this, please.

Why do you always try to start something in this thread? Your always posting some stupid shit about the Pats after everything you type. Please stop. Thanks.

The Patriots are going 15-1 anyway so it doesn't matter. The Giants will beat them - probably by 35 points since they are so awesome.

My team's name is Michael Irvin's Crackpipes.. and I'm in the finals..lol
patriot haters sound a lot like bonds/clemens haters
wtf??

if I treated Clemens or Bonds or the Patriots any differently than I do the other two then it's not fair.

All three cheated.. all three should be punished... Bonds has been scrutinized... the Pats and Clemens somehow, haven't been nearly as scrutinized for their cheating..

The top contender (till I beat him) in my Fantasy league had the team name, "Vick's Pitbulls." I went with, "Deathskin Razors," from Mutant League Football.

There's a Vick's Pitbulls in my league too! I am "The Vampire Slayers" as usual.

I'll have to tell the chump how unoriginal he is now. Vampire Slayers is an awesome name.

Not sure what you guys are talking about, Clemens is getting killed, at least he is here...

WTF BABY KILLER FREED?!?!?

Yeah, it appears that Clemens isn't getting a free pass, he's the most talked about player on that report.
And let this be a lesson to kids. Don't do drugs, or the newspaper will make gay jokes about you.

Isn't pittpizza like a lawyer or something? His posts are always retarded.

With the Lions now being eliminated from the playoffs its official.

The team has won just one playoff game in 50 years.

Congratulations Lions you've done what many thought would be impossible. Keeping the streak of suck alive well into the salary cap and free agency eras. In a league that designed for parity you've been able to maintain a truly magnificent level of terrible. You are truly the tackling dummies of the NFL.
