NFL 2010-2011 Season Discussion Thread
I said "practically" I believe....In any case, it was a mistake for Childress to get rid of Moss. Everyone knows Moss is a diva, as is T.O. and Chad O. You sign a guy like Randy Moss and you have to expect some antics to go on.

The fact of the matter is that they didn't let Moss be on the team long enough. Moss could have done things for the team if he got the ball, and even if he didn't he helped open things up because he was always double teamed. Brad is just not a good coach, he's cutting Moss off of what seems to be emotion not what will help the Vikings win games.
The Vikings removed Sydney Rice from their physically unable to perform list which means they have 3 weeks to activate him and he was at practice today taking reps. I'm sure that played into Childress's decision to a certain extent he knew he didn't need Moss anymore and it wasn't worth the drama.

I certainly agree that signing someone like Moss but I'm thinking his antics over the last week were so egregious that it wasn't worth it anymore. One thing we can certainly agree on though is that Childress is a complete joke of a coach that has plenty of talent but isn't turning that talent into wins. He's lost control and confidence of the team.

He admitted today that picking up Moss was a mistake, and certainly giving up a 3rd round pick was FAR too much for someone they used for 4 games. Not signing him to a contract was the first sign that there was some hesitation on behalf of the Vikings in bringing Moss on. If they were that cautious about bringing him on you don't waste a 3rd round pick on him. MAYBE, a 4th-5th round pick but certainly not a 3rd round.
Instead of releasing Moss, how about sending Papa Favre out to pasture.
Barring an amazing turnabout in the second half of the season, I would expect Favre to finally turn out the lights for good after this season. He keeps playing because he still believes he's still got it. He couldn't stay retired after the 13-3 season with the Packers, he couldn't stay retired after converting a 4-12 Jets team to a 9-7 team, and he sure as hell wouldn't stay retired after almost making the Super Bowl last year.

I think I've said it before, but death is the only way Brett Favre is going to stay out of the game for sure. However, I think death of his viability under center and that "still got it" notion might be just good enough.

he's not going to big D and that sucks i wish i was the owner of the cowboy's

Amazingly it's being reported that they were the only team to make a claim (obviously we know none of the teams ahead of them did). I guess most people vastly overestimated the amount of interest.

I think there's going to be a certain amount of stigma in being dropped from a team after only 4 weeks.

I wasn't aware of Rice being on the practice field. If he comes back, he can fill Moss's spot fine.
Titans get Moss, per Adam Schefter:

http://twitter.com/Adam_Schefter/status/29602356224

Surprised so many teams (20) passed on him, including Washington and Chicago. Great move for the Titans.
Great addition for the Titans, they need a great wideout over there as their receiving core isn't exactly aces. The danger of Moss + their two beastly running backs = vastly better offense IMO.
Oakland Raiders have 500 yards rushing in last two games and 1000 overall wtf lol
Not so weird with the great Darren McFadden on the team. Don't know how that guy's gotten that many yards?

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not, but McFadden was the 4th overall pick in 2008 and he's been injured practically since he was drafted. Running well when he finally looks healthy isn't exactly a shock, it's not like he's some scrub they signed off the streets.

He's had injury troubles but he isn't nearly as good as the pick I would have made Felix Jones. Of course, Jones has injury troubles too, so I guess they are both getting screwed because of their weak bodies.

Glad to see Colt McCoy getting another start. I'm convinced that Cleveland just needs to keep him in at this point and let him get some experience in a season that is pretty much lost.

Delhomme and Wallace are still hurt, so it's not like there's much of a choice with Colt McCoy and Brett Ratliff as your only healthy QBs.
That was a nice way to end the half by forcing the fumble to stop a drive that was going to end with a TD.
Yeah, Im keeping my fingers crossed for an upset.

Another week, another overall best team (as crowned by the media) falling to a very low ranked team. Good stuff to watch, any picks on who the media's new #1 will be?

Edit-Scratch that, make that 2 teams picked as the overall bests falling to easy opponents. Previously I was only speaking of the Browns/Patriots game, then I saw the Jets are losing to the Lions in a 2 score game...

I'm glad to see the potential of this offense finally blossoming with a two game winning streak. The defense has confused New England all day and Colt McCoy and Peyton Hillis have been making big plays all day. I'll gladly support Colt staying the starter, at least until Seneca is fully healed.

Tampa Bay flubbing away a chance to score a go ahead TD in a 4th and 1 inside the 5. Ugh. TB still has a slim shot to win, but the D has to hold right here and now.

Edit: Disregard. TB can't stop the run... ever. ATL wins a tough game at home.

The Panthers might be the worst football team I've ever seen. The 0-16 Detroit Lions could beat this team.

Corrected.
how much points do u think pats will get over cleveland

Ok, now the Vikings need to play this way ALL the time and they'll have a lot less problems the rest of the season.

Jets pull it outta their ass for overtime?

Career high 446 yards for Favre.

Watching an online stream of the Raiders-Chief game. Been a LONG time since I've had enough interest to bother with an online stream for a Raiders game!

Don't see that every day. Chiefs went for a fake punt, and didn't get it. Following possession, Raiders go for a fake punt and don't get it.

Giants-Seahawks stream on nfl.com - watch the Hakeem Nicks TD highlight and, at least for me, kept going. I jumped ahead as far as it would go and it's the live game. :D

They might have fixed it already. But, it's like the episode of Friends with the free porn. I'm not turning it off and risk losing it.

@Xevious

pats did not show up to that game or the JeeeeeeeTs they win with a FG in OT

It looked like a clean hit on Collie, to me anyway.

Did anyone else see Asante Samuel jumping around like an idiot, complaining about the penalty, while the training staff is huddled around a possibly paralyzed player not 10 feet away? Stay classy, Eagles.

While it was definitely a dick move, that was a fumble by Collie and not an incompletion.

And the Raider's pull it out with a long drive to set up a game tying FG, forcing a 3 and out when the chiefs win the OT coin toss, then a long pass to Ford to set up the game winning FG. Hell of a game by Ford, also had a kick return for a TD and a couple big catches on the game tying drive.

1/2 game out of first!

Bears offense looked much better than previously. They actually converted on 3rd down and scored on turnovers and while in the red zone. Defense was kind of weak though. Lindell looked sooo pissed when Idonije blocked the extra point.

Ford beasted in the Raiders/Chiefs game. Thought Collie had more than a concussion with the way he got knocked out. Pretty bad call though, should have been a fumble.

It'll be interesting to see how Sanchez reacts to the Browns D that has confused the fuck out of two of the best QBs in the league next week.

At the moment, no division leader in the NFL has a lead of more than a half game besides the Giants, who only have a one game lead over Philly. It's nice to not have an undefeated team with no major flaws that dominates every game this year. It's wide open enough that even teams with three or four wins right now can get hot and make the playoffs if things go their way.

That was a hell of a play when he stole Flowers' interception and made the catch to set up the tying field goal. This one hurts as, all of a sudden, the AFC West is up for grabs.

I feel like they'll let Sanchez open it up a bit because I do NOT expect the Jets to put up a lot of rushing yards. Their D doesn't scare me because we are not going to be throwing bombs all day.. a healthy Peyton Hillis will wear them down as long as we protect the ball.

I'm really impressed with how Mangini has had the team prepared for the last few games. It looks like they're getting away from whatever wasn't working before and just playing good old fashion football with a lot of heart and you can tell these guys have the confidence to pull off whatever plays they're calling in. :applause:

The key for the Jets, I think, is to start off good defensively. They can then be the offense they're better as, which is running the ball. The last 2 games, the offense played poorly because they gave up points in the first drive or two, forcing the offense to be more pass-oriented than they would like. And don't think that Hillis will be able to wear them down. The best part of the Jets is the run D.
