I don't know if it's an error or a reprint, but Amazon claims to have 999 available for $35, which beats the hell out of all the other prices I've seen online. It's not in stock yet, but it's worth a shot if you're interested in getting it. Amazon expects to get it in stock in two or three weeks. EDIT: Just read about the difference between a visual novel and an adventure game. This is definitely an adventure game. I can't edit the tags for some reason, though.
EDIT 2: It's been requested that I point out that the aksys store has the watch bundle available online for 36.99. http://www.aksysgames.com/games/nineninenine/ It includes a watch designed to look like the bracelets worn in 999. I feel like I should point out that the Amazon version does NOT include the watch.

This game is totally worth it, even fro $40, amazing game!

I found it at my Fry's Electronics for $30, so anyone that lives near a Fry's definitely go there, they'll probably have a few copies. All my gamestops were sold out, but Fry's had plenty of copies.

GET THIS GAME!

Drat, I have it on order from Amazon, but it hasn't shipped yet. Do you think Aksys will get more in with the watch?
 
Considering the watch was originally meant only for preorders, I'm thinking they will not get the bundle back in stock. But, my assumptions have been proven wrong in the past, so who knows. :p
 
Well, I delayed hitting up a GS for it (have a bunch of credit), so either I just wait and see when Amazon has more or check out a Fry's. Some of you guys had me worried it would be hard to find, but I think I'll take my chances.

They've stated on their forums that the bundle will be back in stock. Figured I might as well hold out to get the bundle as well.

The only time I ever had this happen was with the Metroid Prime Trilogy. Really, really regret that one (I have to borrow a friend's copy to play it) but that's life.

I doubt this will turn out quite like MPT did, but it's possible.

Yep, I would just wait until Aksys gets it back in stock, I think it's a few more dollars, but it's going to include the watch. At least they said it would on their site or forums, don't remember which.
 
Thanks for the info CAGs. I was going to cancel the Amazon order, but now it looks like they're out of stock and only selling from GoHastings for $52. Cheaper on eBay, but maybe I'll hold on to this just in case.

I stand corrected. :) Either way though, I'd probably keep a very close eye once they do get it back in stock b/c it'll prob sell out fairly quickly. Especially when you've got hoarders out there looking to buy 10+ copies to flip for an exorbitant amount of money on ebay.
 
Hmm, I actually got this game on sale before Christmas. Didn't realize it was so rare, glad I got lucky! Everyone should try to get a hold of it, it's an awesome, awesome game.

Woah! It's $52 from Gohastings? It was $35 when I checked yesterday, and shipped in 24 hours. That sucks. Come on Aksys, I'm waiting!

For some strange reason, goHastings has it listed at $52 on Amazon Marketplace, even though it's still $35 at their site.

But no, the game isn't sold out. This is another quirk of Amazon's. Sometimes they show the price of a Marketplace vendor instead of their own. But if you check all the vendors for "New", Amazon is still there at $34.99.

The watch is actually very cool. It's heavy duty solid metal, so it's got some weight to it, but I've gotta say, I would never actually utilize it. That is to say, I don't and really have never worn watches, anyways.

Maybe. But the words "bundle" and "includes the watch" are tough to miss....


Anyway, about the watch: from the pics on ebay, it looks like a regular watch. Does it also show like "5" and the skulls? (That would be fantastic.)

To be honest with you, I have not turned the watch on, so I'm not sure.. but from the pictures I've seen, it looks as if it just displays the time digitally in red numbering. So yes, my guess is it is just a regular watch.

Currently playing through it now (ordered it from GS for $35 before it went OOS everywhere) and I'm definitely enjoying it, but I haven't finished my first playthrough yet. I'm almost tempted to order a 2nd copy from the aksys store just for the watch hehe :D

I can't shake that Santa seems like a cross between Chipp Zanuff from GG and Hitsugaya from Bleach :p

I didn't pay attention to the fact that Aksys bundles a watch with the game. I'm not really complaining. In fact, I just placed an order.

If I wasn't unemployed, running out of unemployment, and moving, I might have gone for the bundle, but that's life. I found a "new" copy at a GS today so I went and got it since I still have credit. They expected me to walk out of the store with just the game itself in a CD sleeve with my pickup receipt. For a new game purchase. When I questioned that, the guy took the case off the shelf and gave it to me.

Now I'm starting to get some of the complaints people have about them. Selling a "new" copy (!?!??! how would I even know!) as card-only is beyond sleazy.
 
Fantastic game. Started out slow, but I am amazed with how it developed. It's better than Ace Attorney, Hotel Dusk, etc... basically any other DS visual novel. Though I must say that either the writing or translation is kind of awkward at times.

Random: if you liked LOST, you'll like this game!

Anyone check to see how many they had in stock to start with?

Was 255 in stock a moment ago. Check a few minutes later and it's now 251.
 
I actually bought it fairly early and i put in 500 units. It was funny seeing the 18k or so in the total.

So they had at least that much but probably not much more.
 
They probably have more of the game itself, but that number sounds about right for the watch.

I just want that watch damnit!
