What Is Transferred During the System Transfer Process?
Answer:

Applies To: Transfer From Nintendo 3DS

Answer

For the most part, information on the target system (system being transferred to) will be overwritten by the information on the source system (system being transferred from). See below for specific details, or click here for more information:

 • All content downloaded via the eShop on both systems (DSiWare, Ambassador games and status, 3DS Downloadable software, etc) will be combined together onto the target system.
 • After the transfer is complete, titles will be available to re-download from the Nintendo eShop.
 • Any game data that is duplicated on both systems is overwritten by the data on the source system.
 • The eShop balance from both systems is combined together. (Total amount cannot exceed $200 or the transfer will be canceled.)
 • Data associated with any pre-installed software or applications (Face Raiders, Streetpass Mii Plaza, etc). Only the data associated with the source system is retained.
 • Photos, Videos, and Sound files
 • Any photo and sound files that exist on the target system’s internal memory will be overwritten. However, photo and sound files saved to the target system’s SD Card are still retained.
 • System Settings from the source system (Parental Controls, Internet settings, etc)
 • Save data associated to DSiWare and Nintendo 3DS Downloads
 • The WFC ID associated to DS online games.

Yeah, that seems pretty comprehensive in the best way possible. As in, if there's ever a reason to pick up a new 3DS, you're basically able to just port your existing stuff over without much hassle.

Which means that Zelda 3DS is mighty tempting now. Dammit. I was sort of banking on the answer being 'well, I have to just keep the one I have because so-and-so doesn't transfer'.

Anybody purchase 'Pushmo' from today's update and care to give it a quick review?

It looks interesting, as opposed to 90% of what's in the store.
Technically Sony beat them to it first, as far as online games/content distribution is concerned in the console world. Sony never forced any branded points as substitution for currency, though.

I don't have a 360 so I didn't realize that Live was still that rigid on content purchases. When Nintendo does something before a competitor with it's online marketplace... holy crap! is all I can say.
I know. I was talking about it being between the two companies that still used this style of clunky payment system. Microsoft is the only one left that doesn't offer an exact change option.

My quick review: It's fun.

I might pick it up its caught my fancy but I just bought mario kart 7 and the rest of my paycheck is going to families gifts

Went to 2 local Gamestops that are within walking distance of one another and wrote the following message for the Mii: 'use plaza 4 pzl'. I hope people copy this trend. My good deed got rewarded as 4 people rushed in right before I left, and I got the last 2 panels I needed, Zelda and Kirby. Now to traverse the globe for the 6 new Puzzles.

I was wondering and thought of something, if the 3DS can now transfer over to other 3DS and ambassador games as well does it mean it can be possible for someone to have a predated demo unit that has ambassador games to transfer to a newly purchase 3DS? Just wondering since most of the demo units here in Bakersfield have received the ambassador email when I checked their notifications.
I've found that this system hurts the palm of my hands while playing Mario Kart 7. Is this happening to anyone else?
Yes. I got used to it after a while though, but I try to keep my playtime per session around 20 minutes instead of 40 initially.

I read that and the biggest surprise to me was that there is now 3D video recording on the 3DS!? WTF!? When did this happen? Of course I haven't played mine in like 6 months so maybe that's why I haven't been paying any attention. And what's this about visiting different plazas? Sounds new to me also.

My son plays his, though, and I keep buying lots and lots of games for it (thanks to Best Buy mostly).

I really should check it out again to see what's going on.

Yeah...my only real complaint about MK7 so far has been the 3DS' un-ergonomic design keeping me from being able to play it for very long. On top of the system digging into my right palm, I also start to cramp up a bit from holding down L so much (to hold an item behind me) while also frequently holding down R (to powerslide)...and then there's the way the A or Y buttons dig into my thumb from holding down the accelerator the whole time.

I start to feel it during the second race (of GP mode). By the time I'm done with all four races, I call it quits on the game for a while.

Getting Pushmo. Wow, I'm actually getting my first paid title from the 3DS's eShop.

Also, didn't get charged tax. Changed my zip to that one that wasn't taxed ages ago. Guess it works, or does no one get charged tax?

While reading this post I kept saying to myself 'man, I can't wait for that Cradle to come out.' It gets better over time, but it's still a problem.

Same thing happens with me and MK7. About halfway through a GP my left hand is hurting.

Picked up Shinobi with that $20 for $40 Newegg credit deal the other day. Fans of the series will definitely enjoy this one. The parry system is brutal in an awesome way. I kinda wish it had a dash button (with after image like PS2 would be even better), but maybe it would break the game's difficulty. If you pick this up, be sure to start at beginner difficulty since that equates to normal in other games. Even at beginner I'm only B-ranking the missions... I can't imagine getting S rank.

hahaha, glad to hear it's not just me. My left thumb is sore the next morning after playing too, cuz it's at a kinda odd angle as opposed to most controllers.

Doesn't stop me from playing though :D Gotta join the CAG group too eventually.
it is already in the game
I want it on my 3DS HUD when I don't have Mario Kart with me. How do I do this? I've read that you can..
Can anyone recommend me a crystal case, like Hori had for the DS Lite back in the day?

I googled but didn't find an official Hori.
CTA makes one

I picked up a khaos one but I would recommend not getting it

Hori doesn't make one :(

Anyone?? I really want to install the channel...
I saw the CTA one at Amazon but some reviews said it didnt fit right.
I think I read that CTA retooled it. Fits better now or something.

Anyways I only picked up the KHOMO not KHAOS case. It's tight... but I think my lid is tight too.

It's not as good as my Lite's HORI.... but it'll do.
Anyone?? I really want to install the channel...
I think the data is just install to your memory card and you can get street pass without the game.

So the "Mario Kart Channel," itself cannot be installed???

hey, a brand new owner of a 3DS or any kind of DS really, i was wondering would it be wise to play the 3ds without a screen protector? if not then which screen protector should i get because i've been hearing that HORI has been pretty good but it's also the most expensive of them.

I have the CTA Crystal case and am pretty happy. They redesigned it so you no longer get the moisture effect between the plastic and the system. And based on the amazon reviews, even if you get the wrong model they're quick to send you a replacement.

Hori does make a plastic case similar to CTA's. Do a search on Amazon for "Nintendo 3DS Protector"
They also make a silicone version. But read the reviews carefully because their plastic case also suffers from the moisture effect.

For screen protectors go with Hori. They've even improved the design to make it easier to apply.
With other screen protectors you run the risk of them being cloudy or leaving a gap open on the sides.

I agree, Hori is the way to go if you're planning to get a screen protector. It's not wise to be without one.. as Nintendo never fixed the screen-scratching design flaw so your top screen will probably end up getting scratched eventually, unless you use a screen protector, or extend the little rubber bumpers.

I bought my 8 year old son the flame red 3ds from target, taking advantage of the free giftcards. I also got him mk7 , sml3d and loz:eek:ot.
I need screen protectors (probably going to order Hori) suggestions.
I also need a suggestion for a good case. Do any work with the charging cradle?
How about the nyko charge base, power grip, or power pack plus? Any cases work with these? I am concerned of the complaints of short battery life.
Any and all suggestions or comments appreciated.

Can't recommend Hori enough. They may be a bit more expensive, but they're definitely the best. I'll never go back to any other brand out there.

I know i broached this subject a few pages ago but I can't get over how uncomfortable this system manages to be. It's like each iteration of the DS has gotten harder on the hands.

I will also say that the 3d in Mario Kart seems to e way better than the 3d in Mario 3D land. Anyone else notice this?

It's been bothering me too, especially since I've been using it way more this past month with the two big releases. I keep being tempted by those controller grip things on Amazon, but I'm just making myself hold out for the circle pad pro. It may be ugly, but the general consensus by those who have had a hands-on with it is that it makes the system infinitely more comfortable.

It's more subtle, but overall better done imho, mainly because racing games lend themselves well to 3D effects, because you are constantly moving from the foreground to the background.

Ok, I am not up on my 3ds news/gossip so I will just ask. When are we going to see 3d movies or is that just not happening? I remember the big 3ds announcement and they said 3d movies were coming, I assumed they meant full length films. Are the only 3d movies we have the several short clips in the video app and the eshop trailers? I want real movies omg.

Along these same lines, has Netflix 3D streaming been implemented yet? I don't currently have a Netflix sub to check.

I've seen a homebrew PC app that lets you take 3D videos or rips of 3D youtube vids and convert it to a format for the 3DS, but it's limited to 10 minute segments and I can't say how well it works.

I recently re-bought a 3DS with the TRU deal... and all I can say is after playing Super Mario 3D Land, and Mario Kart 7 the current iteration of 3DS hardware design does not do the games justice at all. The power of the system is just fine, but the design needs a revision NOW. The second a 3DSi comes out I'm selling/trade this thing in, it's terrible... but it doesn't have to be.

The screen is too small, the controls hurt my hands after 10-15mins of play, the whole device feels plasticy and cheap, the menu software/online store is atrocious. It's too bad because playing these recent big games has changed my mind about what the 3DS can be in the future... a phenomenal handheld, a portable Gamecube essentially. Nintendo needs to get that hardware revision out before next holiday IMO.

If I could have a 3DS with a 4"-4.3" screen, (hopefully) improved 3D viewing angle, much improved cameras, 2 circle pads, better battery life, and a revamped eShop/online/online functionally... this system would be a monster, probably my favorite handheld ever.

The eShop needs game demos! It's also kind of ridiculous that we don't already have NES, SNES, and GBA games up for download... how hard can it really be to implement that Nintendo?? The sad thing is even if we did have them I wouldn't even buy them after seeing how tiny the NES ambassador games play on the current 3DS' screen... no option to stretch them out for full screen, and because the current screen is only 3.5" you're essentially playing NES games in thumbnail. My eyes strain to see details that small.

Long story short, if they come out with a new and improved hardware model, and get the online together the 3DS would be perfect. Right now though, it feels like it's already forgotten.. Nintendo needs to make some announcements, or show some signs that they're working on making things better. An update with some useless Spot Pass/Streetpass junk isn't going to cut it. I want some REAL features.
All of you, buy Pushmo. It rocks.
I probably will when I get home today. The seemingly endless supply of puzzles means it will have good replayability.
