Nintendo 3DS - General Discussion Thread
seriously? nobody else is buying Kid Icarus?
I'm getting it but it's just going on the pile with the other games. I won't have hardware until a redesign drops.
I have mine pre-ordered at Nintendo World Store because they're giving the 3D classic code PLUS a free pack of AR cards with purchase :)
Don't you have to be one of the first 250 people to pick the game up? That's the only reason I didn't bother with the NWS - I can't go shopping at 9am on a Friday
I wasn't going to because it will be a while before I get around to playing it, but I've got a buttload of Amazon credit and that pre-order bonus is rather tempting...
what is the preorder for Kid Icarus

Damn, now that i hear of a Target B2G1 free, i'm not sure if I should cancel my amazon order.

what's the classic icarus worth? $10 to buy separately?

I'm pumped about Kid Icarus! I'm also pumped that I'll be able to get a Nintendo game on release day without having to deal with retail store hassles.

I can't even remember the last time Nintendo released a high profile game on a day other than Sunday. I hope they start doing Friday releases more often.

Metroid: Other M got pushed from a Sunday in June to a Tuesday in August. I think that was the last one.

EDIT: I got another new Puzzle from my usual Gamestop source. This time it was Star Fox 64 3D, and it was a Pink Piece, my 2nd overall.

Any idea if Pinball Arcade is coming out to the eShop tomorrow?

Also, is 3D classics Kid Icarus only gonna be available to pre-orders, or will they sell it on the eShop?

I was in 2 different Gamestop's yesterday and only got a single Street Pass from it all, despite that each one had 2-3 employees working. I was somewhat expecting GS to be a hotbed for Street Passes!

Comic book and/or anime conventions.

Well you really have to find the right time. I found an employee who works at a local Gamestop from 5:00pm ~ 8:00pm on Wednesdays. That's when I go. The last couple of weeks I've gained more Puzzles and Pieces. I should try and go at other times though, but the state of North Carolina has COMPLETELY fucked the road up to get there, making it a hassle to go to anymore. Making inquiries also helps if you know someone who works there.

I get most of my hits from Target.

Yeah, it's worth it to me. I don't mind putting in a little effort for the things I like or love...and I DO love shopping (at any time of day)! Isn't shopping one of the main focuses of this site lol?

There are going to be hundreds of these cards available so the more I get for free the better for me. Plus, there's sure to be other fun happenings at NWS launch event. :D

I really enjoy my 3DS but will like it even more once I get Gamefly and not have to spend $40 on each game.

I'll be picking up Kid Icarus Friday morning. Can't wait....done enough of that the last 20 years. Hoping to score some more AR cards somewhere, but the Gamestop event on April 14th seems to be the only other time. I'll get Nintendo Power for the cards and did get the Game Informer card. That's it for me, other than the 6 included with the game.

Took the 3DS to the biggest city near my hometown and only got 2 hits. One was in the parking lot of Kirklands and the other in a Gamestop. I think one of the workers in my town's Gamestop has a 3DS, as I've gotten the same hit the last couple times I've been in.
my sister just gave me a 3DS now I don't have to wait for a port of revelations =D
YOU'RE SPELLING IT WRONG!

It's REVELAYTONS!
Anyone going to the launch event tomorrow at Nintendo World?
I am...if this event at GameStop ever ends...

Anyone know yet if the preorder bonus code comes packed in with Kid Icarus Uprising? Curious if there will be a chance early non-preorder copies will also have them.

Pushmo (in the eShop) and Crush 3D.

So UPS finally decided to deliver Kid Icarus to me.

#1 - The flight controls are absolutely perfect
#2 - The ground controls are nearly perfect, except...
#3 - THE fuckING CAMERA! HOLY SHIT THIS THING IS TERRIBLE!
#4 - The dialog is funny and feels natural
#5 - The AR cards are...ok. I want to collect more though. Too bad Nintendo doesn't want to make money off of them :(
#6 - The stand is pretty disappointing. I thought it would have a clamp or something to kind of help the system be locked in, but no, it doesn't.
#7 - Having to bet Hearts to increase or decrease the difficulty feels odd to say the least.

Overall, I'm enjoying it, but man, the camera controls are terrible for the ground section. I wish they went for a fixed perspective or an N64 style camera where you could press a certain direction to move the camera instead of the floaty globe controls. And for those who may wonder, I found Metroid Prime Hunters to be unplayable due to its' controls. This is perfectly playable to plays sorta well.

so
6 card from game
3 from Nintendo club
1 glued to Kid icarus ad from this months gamer informer (or was in BB's @Gamer?)

from game (Pit,Palutena,Medusa,DarkLord Gaol, Fortune Bow, stackjaw,)
from CN (I assume everyone will gt the same)
from ad insert (Power of flight)

Did everyone get the same cards I did, including the power of flight?

Bestbuy's @Gamer mag's upcoming issue is supposed to include one (some?) as well, not sure if it would be the same as Gameinformer's but I'm guessing it will be different.

My preorder from NWS had the code printed on the receipt. I think GameStop is doing that as well? Best Buy is emailing the codes. Don't know if non-preorder will have the bonus?

EDIT: I am a little butt-hurt about Best Buy having a release date sale on this for $29.99, but I figure getting the Three Sacred Treasures Card, an extra booster pack and supporting Nintendo is worth the extra $10 to me.

Here's the breakdown:

 • Included with Kid Icarus: Uprising: 6 random cards
 • Club Nintendo giveaway: Great Reaper, Palutena and Drill Arm
 • GameStop (April 14): Eggplant Wizard, Skyscraper Club, Fireworks Cannon, Minos and the Fiend's Cauldron
 • Nintendo World (March 23): Three Sacred Treasures
 • Game Informer (subscribers): Power of Flight
 • Nintendo Power: Poseidon, Thanatos - God of Death and Medusa (Battle)
 • @Gamer: Pit, Pandora - The Goddess of Calamity and Samurai Blade
 • Events: Random packs
I got a few packs from yesterday's GameStop event. The highest numbered card I got was 328. So could there be 350-400 cards?!:hot: I spoke to Nintendo reps at the event and employees at Nintendo World and they were all unsure about whether booster packs will be for sale in the future. Opportunities to get and/or trade cards are few and far between and even then you'll only be able to get a few at a time. At this rate I think almost no one will be able to collect a full set unless they pay out the ass for them in the secondary market.

Thanks a lot! Still, Nintendo would be fools not to capitalize on selling these.

Ha! I love how the article says: "Here's a super-special-awesome card this time. Three Sacred Treasures. To get it, you'll have to be one of the first 250 lucky persons to be at the midnight release of Kid Icarus: Uprising at the Nintendo World Store at 9 A.M." ??? NWS did not have a midnight release. They opened at 9AM as usual and there were plenty of the special cards to go around for all the peeps who lined up prior to opening. They even had lots left over to give out at the tournament they had later tonight.

Yeah, I kind of regret waking up early and heading over to Nintendo World for a not-so hard to get AR card. Would have liked it if the release was more like the Scribblenauts release with all the freebies and the developers hanging out to chit chat.

Did get some Steak and Shake so it wasn't all bad ;)
Yeah, I kind of regret waking up early and heading over to Nintendo World for a not-so hard to get AR card...
Yeah, you and me both! I got up at 5:30, got there at 7AM and there was only like 10 people there! I don't even think 100 people were there at opening or even for the whole morning! I thought it was going to be a major outing like with all the other first party releases. They didn't even change the window displays! Only putting up a couple of standees and hanging cutouts...lame. They most likely will still have some more of the special card tomorrow and the next day!

Make sure to post a clean, flat pic of the Card for Idol Purposes.

I'm up to Chapter 6 so far. It's pretty good. But like all Sakurai games there's always one thing holding it back from being Perfect. With this game it's just the Land Controls. I think they could've found a better way to control the game during those sections. And the game is still playable, but they're...weird to say the last. The controls aren't broken like Metroid Prime Hunters. That much is certain.

Apparently Miiwata is going out to EU/US 3DS owners today. He'll be a Level 5 with all of the Puzzle Pieces. I'm currently contemplating which Puzzle I'll get. Probably Rhythm Heaven Fever.

More Kid Icarus Classic and Kid Icarus Uprising for me. I'm reminded of how terrible the map in the original is by playing 1-4. UGH. Also, the Insight Staff they sent out over Spot Pass is TERRIBLE. It has homing ability, even for a Charged Shot. What a waste of 27,500 Hearts.

That place would be fine if there werent 300 people there and they finished cooking the burgers

Played some Kid Icarus earlier and I'm not having any issues with the controls so far. I'm using the stick move and the buttons to aim. I suppose that the higher difficulties might cause it to bother me more, but I find at around 3 that I can pretty much strafe to kill the enemies and the timing isn't so exact on aiming that the buttons do just fine.

Can the circle pad pro be used for two stick moving and aiming? I know it mentions left handed controls, but I wasn't sure about using both sticks.

No, it doesn't have dual analog. I think the game would kinda suck with them given the game's speed.

I re-did Chapters 1 & 2 just now for a couple of Achievements. I still need to beat Chapter 2 in less than 10 minutes, so I guess I'll drop the difficulty to 0 when I do that. The odd thing is that lowering the difficulty past 2 costs hearts as well. Anything from the default of 2 does. I wish it was a sliding scale personally. Still, it's a great game.

Played through the 3D remake of the original. What nostalgia.

Uprising is an interesting take on the game. Not sure what I think of it yet, other than: yeah, I'll use the 3DS stand. Played 2 chapters without it, and my left hand is cramped.

Well, I wasn't having control issues in single player, but the way I was using it didn't work in multiplayer. I'm trying to strafe with the buttons and aim with the circle pad now. This is awkward being right handed, but once I can get my brain to adjust it is much better for aiming and should work fine in multiplayer.
