Figured this would be the best place to ask. That New Nintendo 3DS that was on sale during Black Friday (with swap-able faceplates) was that a limited run? Are they not planning on making anymore of those? I can't find much info about it online.

anyone played SteamWorld Dig before?  i enjoy metroidvanias but i haven't heard much about it, good or bad.

It's primarily a digging game in the vein of things like Miner Dig Deep and others, but the Metroid elements comes in the way it unlocks new abilities that let you explore the underground more easily.

anyone play

Dragon Ball Fusions

thinking of trying to buy it off best buy and resell it for a cheap rental... but could swear i seen this cheaper then 23

one of these days i will type it out and not just copy and paste :)

got lord of on cart.. tempted to get download for 10
Eh, not played it...

I am annoyed by the censorship.

For some reason Bandai & Nintendo decided to censor all weapons.

So instead Swords.. they use STICKS to fight.... because they look like kids. Even canon characters like Future Trunks, now uses a stick.

Which monster hunter should I buy?
generations is the latest and honestly does so much good for the series in terms of gameplay. you get fighting styles that give you more flexibility in how you want to play the game and they've made making armor and the like easier by not requiring as much materials to make, atleast to me anyway. really though, generations shares a bit of content from monster hunter 4 ultimate so its more worth it to play generations just because of that alone.

Another reason why I have purchased my last nintendo system (the Wii U).  As a cheapassgamer, I'm never that impressed with the e-shop sales or any other nintendo sales.  Even with the Nintendo Wii u on its last legs, they still can't produce a sale with some 99 cent nes classics.  It's too bad because i grew up with the original nes and I love all zelda and mario games... but their lack of sales in comparison to the xbox and ps4 is staggering.  Does anyone else share this sentiment?

While I think this is true for the most part, selling "99 cent nes classics" seems like a terrible idea for a company whose biggest holiday item is the NES Classic.

Also: Finally got to share Mario Party 2 with my partner of many years! She's never played despite owning an N64... Tonight while playing however, she literally just fell asleep in the middle of a game. I'm currently packing her belongings and when she wakes up tomorrow morning I'll be letting her know that she is no longer welcome in this home.

Think I'll jump on some Phoenix Wright. Definitely Dual Destinies since I was gonna buy that anyway with my recently acquired bundle of discounted eshop creds.
w00t a second unexpected discount!

But I'm on the fence about Spirit of Justice...will I have to wait another full year for the next holiday season to see it reach 11.99 like Dual Destinies?

I'll probably get Phoenix Wright now.  I can't make it another year avoiding spoilers, waiting for that better deal.

It was a limited run item. At this point they do not plan on making anymore

Same, not sure if I should buy Spirit of Justice now since my backlog is big and it could get cheaper. The Trilogy hasn't budged, though, so I should probably at least pick that up (already bought Dual Destinies in another purchase).

You should be tried and jailed for cruel and unusual punishment for asking someone to play a Mario Party game. They're as fun as the Zelda CD-i games or the Mario typing game.

I totally agree that these eShop sales are terrible, especially compared to PSN, XBL and Steam. I don't understand why they are so reluctant to discount 20+ year old games. The only digital games that get consistently discounted are the shovelware titles. Beyond that you're lucky if they knock a buck or two off an old NES or Gameboy game. And if they happen to take $5 or $10 off an old Wii title that you want, you better get it because that is probably the only time they'll ever discount it.

Capcom, strangely, does a much better job with the sales and I've bought and enjoyed a number of their titles digitally for 3DS.

I sort of feel your sentiment with regard to the sales. The Eshop sales honestly kinda suck, and for the Wii U you're basically required to invest in an external hard drive if you want any real collection of digital games. I will still invest in Nintendo systems, but I can agree with your feelings on the subject of their sales - lackluster. I was really hoping for a big VC sale, to send the Wii U off to greener pastures. There are a bunch of GBA and SNES things I'd happily get, even some DS games as well, if they were on sale. At the same time, I'd like some sort of assurance about being able to re-download them on the Switch as well. I wouldn't want to have to just pay for them again, I hope they make all the current VC stuff compatible unlike the Wii to Wii U transition. There's a bunch of titles in the Wiishop library that are missing from the Wii U Eshop but cards are unavailable and I don't want to connect a credit card.

All that said, I will eventually be investing in the Switch, when I can. I'll likely never give up fully on Nintendo hardware.

And that right there is why Nintendo will never learn it's lesson and get worse and worse.

As a college kid, i can barely afford to play a nintendo system. I got a 3DS as a gift and only have a handful of games, which is why i check this thread often to see if something good actually goes on sale for once at a reasonable price. Whereas on Playstation, if i just wait a while i can afford to buy pretty much any game i've had my eye on at a reasonable price.

Nintendo has the face of a family friendly company, but they suck you dry if you actually want to get anything out of their products.

I am a fan of a lot of Nintendo's games and i've mainly been buying VC stuff because i never had a Nintendo system as a kid. I decided not to sell the 3DS in the hopes of eventually being able to afford the games i want, and so far that hasn't worked out too well.

When online was truly first introduced on consoles during the OG Xbox era, all I thought of was how cool it was going to be for "N" to offer their back catalog on future devices. It took well in to the Wii to finally be offered, and once it was, it was pretty bad, but at least a start.

Sadly, the same reason why they won't do good sales, or offer anything that their competition does, is due to their "we know best mentality", our games are better than anyone elses and there for, worth more. Once they finally offered their back catalog, I no longer cared, and then when I saw the quality and effort put forth, I just didn't see the value.

They could almost stop making new games, and live off their last 30 years of games if they where offered properly and at the right pricing. Iwata used to say they never want there games to be offered to cheap, as that makes the games look like a lesser quality, or something to that effect. So while the competition sales tons of games at competitive pricing, "N" sits around thinking the games they made are better than anything else, and the public will pay it anyway. Which is true of a certain fan base, but that same group is really what has been keeping them going, as most consumers just don't care.

This is why they have slowly been circling the bowl for ages, and will never return to a competitive stance in the market, as they have no clue what it means to be in the current gaming industry.

Blasphemy, how dare you. I challenge you to a duel you cretin, Western Land style!

Man, I bought the limited edition and it hasn't worked since I bought it. Lol. I just sent it to Nintendo again because the power goes in and out, which makes it unplayable. :(

With that said if I do get back, eh, I've never played a Phoenix Wright game. The trilogy maybe a thing I get?

Are he games just text based courtroom dramas? I've always been confused by them

The Ace Attorney games are basically visual novels with a bizarre sense of humor with an equally bizarre set of characters. I enjoy them, but they're certainly not for everyone. Maybe watch the first episode of a playthrough on youtube or something?

.... I've never played a Mario Party game.

Not because of lack of interest, but because I'm picky about playing games in sequential order.

Is the original Mario Party available for purchase? As someone who never owned an N64, I would consider checking it out.

Only get Mario Party 1 if you hate your controller and want to destroy it. The rotate analog 360 degree mini games are stuff of nightmares and majority of the games are the same (minus the recent ones with the terrible travel together mechanic).

Yeah, they straight up don't sell it on the eshop for this reason. It's just an inferior version of Mario Party 2 with virtually the same mini-games.

There mostly text based, but in between the court room banter, there are investigation segments where you have to search for clues and evidence to use during the trial segments.

Mostly though, it's a ton of reading, with very little actual time doing much else, as even the investigation parts are reading, as it's not like a point and click where you might have some mini game, or combining items together to reach a goal.

It's very straight forward on a set path, but I've always enjoyed them myself. Last year I started the trilogy again, and now I'm at the AAI2(fan translation), and then going on to Layton x Wright, and Dual Destinies, and finally the latest game.

Boo I was willing to pick up Spirit of Justice for $19.99 instead of waiting for it to go cheaper but unlike the other Ace Atterny game on sale this one isn't equilvent in Canada and they are charging nearly $27 before tax for it

The best part about buying Nintendo games is the knowledge that you can safely buy them at release without feeling bad later for not holding out longer. That shit ain't never gonna get discounted! AAA games like Battlefront will go from $60 to $20 in a month. Smash bros might go from $60 to $50 for a one time five day sale 3 years after release.  If the high priced software isn't enough, then the hardware is even worse. The Wii U is the weakest system with the fewest games but guess what? Besides the premium Neo model targeted at advanced users, the U is currently the most expensive gaming console on the market.  One would be forgiveable. But both taken together is too much a sour pill to swallow for all but the most hardcore and passionate of Nintendo's niche fans.

Then there's the rare sale where a great game (Mario Maker) got a sale for $30-40 off one time from Best Buy never to be seen ever again a few months ago.

Can anyone confirm Sadame is $7.99 on the eShop?  I checked Frisky's link and it shows $14.99.

I've been waiting on a sale (apparently I missed the last few) and wanted to get it, but not for full price.  I guess I'll grab my system and see, but it's strange the price isn't showing up correctly on the web store...

Yeah, it's on sale in the eShop. That's why it's on the list. ;)

Every Phoenix Wright game is about some smug asshole on the witness stand taunting your ass because you just don't quite have enough evidence to prove he committed the murder and get your loveable innocent loser schlub client off. And then Phoenix is all "It can't end like this... Wait, I have to turn my thinking around. If I could just prove this one thing..." And then the smug asshole is all "Hmph, don't listen to this pathetic excuse for a lawyer, judge. He doesn't have a clue and won't be getting one anytime soon." And then the judge gives you one final chance to provide one piece of evidence at the risk of your entire life bar and then you do and the rockin techno music starts playing and you explain your proof and the smug asshole, finally cornered and his guilt display for all, screams like a madman, foams at the mouth, and collapses.

Is resident evil mercenaries worth $5?
If you like RE4/5 style Mercenaries, yes. But it is just the Mercenaries minigame and without half of the satisfying physics involved in RE5's Mercenaries or cool graphics.

I STILL play RE5 Mercenaries for score after all these years though

And this right here is why they're all fantastic.

Ah. Sounds like I should pass. Prolly fast cuts, and sweat drip anime things with scratchy eyes at one point?

I thought it was more than a glorified manga. Meh. Thanks for the info everyone!
